trans boy ichimatsu is a very good headcanon but i feel like we also need to consider trans girl ichi
blmatsus don't interact i will run you over
i created some gyates of mike makowski out of pure self indulgence >:3 free to use if you want to but pls give me credit!!
as much as were all enjoying watching maga idiots get burned by this shit, having meltdowns in airports about being placed on no fly lists, outing themselves to journalists, etc etc
im really terrified about the impending backlash from the government
were gonna get patriot act part 2, were gonna lose a ton of online privacy and freedom, were gonna get some pretty draconian new firearms laws, were gonna see further restrictions on right to assemble being used against protestors
and this is going to heavily affect the left, and worse were going to see widespread popular support for it among liberals and centrists who will just see it as owning the trump fan club
Went to the Aboriginal artifact exhibit in Chicago. And it’s interesting. How many blankets and masks and totem poles say ‘unknown source’, because every five seconds my mom would stop and point to something and say. “Pauline’s grandmother made that,” or, “That belongs to Mike’s family, I should call him” because. It’s all stolen
“These artifacts were excavated by archaeologists from a burial site in the 1970’s. The remains were returned for reinterment” Okay cool, cool cool. So you just, like. Dug up the grave of a respected family member, stripped them naked, mailed their body back to their family and kept everything they were lovingly put to rest in. Like a graverobbing bastard
Reminds me of the time when of the elders from my hometown started touching a totem pole in the Museum of Anthropology out at UBC and got yelled at by the staff, only to tell him that the pole had been stolen off of the front of her bighouse when she was ten years old.
Museum collectors did the equivalent of kidnapping a family member when they were away fishing.
The Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act requires all institutions that receive federal funding to repatriate remains and artifacts so if you can identify the source of something on display absolutely get a hold of that institute’s repatriation office
please talk me i am no longer angy

hey—the thread that starts like this?
it's been debunked by snopes
i cannot stress enough that it has been debunked by snopes and contains dangerous misinformation
stop reblogging it! stop retweeting it! you are actively putting people in danger when you do so
Though not all of the post's assertions lack a theoretical basis, their applicability to COVID-19 home care is largely flawed.

“And that quote, “The only disability in life is a bad attitude,” the reason that that’s bullshit is because it’s just not true.” - Stella Young
[IDs: Screenshots from the late, great, Stella Young’s TED Talk: I’m Not Your Inspiration, Thank You Very Much. Stella is a wheelchair-user sitting up on the stage in front of a massive crowd. In these screenshots, she’s saying, “No amount of smiling at a flight of stairs has ever made it turn into a ramp. Never. (Laughter. Applause.) Smiling at a television screen isn’t going to make closed captions appear for people. No amount of standing in the middle of a bookshop and radiating a positive attitude is going to turn all those books into braille.]
I use this speech and the underlying theories a lot in my PhD, but Stella Young honestly had one of those voices that needs to be heard by everyone, so I figured I’d post my favorite part of the speech here. If anyone remembers that time I threw myself onto the floor For The Vine, you’ll know that I also hate the quote: “The only disability in life is a bad attitude”. Stella just conveyed the message with less pain.

Yes I WILL reblog this again like. Beyond her obvious songwriting prowess it always floors me how much of an INCREDIBLE vocalist and musician mitski is, the level of pitch control you have to have to perform a song like this not just live but fucking a capella is UNREAL, she sounds clear as a bell all the while maintaining the irregular snapping rhythms like it’s nothing……she’s just amazing and I’m so thankful and I’m gonna go watch this 7 more times in a row goodbye .
This happened earlier this year but I didn’t see anybody talking about it and its kind of important but in september the american burying beetle was taken off the endangered species list and reclassified as threatened despite the fact they are still critically endangered.
This isn’t just some random act of malice against these beetles, this is something that the oil and gas industries have been pushing for for years because their populations are in areas that they want to use for development, which they were prevented from using due to their endangered status. This was, essentially, a green light for the destruction of some of their last known habitats, not to mention the harm that the resulting pollution will have on people.
