Unicorn

Golden Yellow coat. Royal purple mane and tail.

Destiny was ruling and leadership.

Princess Platinums father. Technically the first ruler of Equestria. He is proud of his daughter and her accomplishments.

Princess/Queen Platinum-

Unicorn

Pale purple almost white coat. Dark blue/indigo mane and tail.

Cutie mark is an ingot of platinum

Her destiny is leading, her talents are public speech and politics, her hobbies are in metal smithing.

Past ruler of Equestria, direct ancestor of the current Royal Family the Blood family, indirect ancestor of the Belle family (cousins). First ruler of note. Her father was technically the first king to rule newly established Equestria, but he was old and frail, so she did most of the heavy work in his stead. She might as well have been appointed Queen from the start. A little bit snooty and perhaps a little full of herself, but she was a caring and generous leader. What’s wrong with knowing you have talents?

Queen Blue Rose-

White coat. Blue and purple mane and tail. Maybe looks like the toy majesty (the one canon celestia is based off of I think)

Cutie mark is a crown covered in roses

Destiny is ruling. Talents are political in nature. Has no hobbies besides reading and studying. A leader and ruler and nothing more, she serves her people first and foremost. Loves her son but she was always so busy with work. Emotionally neglectful of her son, castle staff practically raised him. Maybe that’s why he has such a taste for adventure, hearing the fascinating stories from the common folk.

Prince Blue Blood-

Unicorn

Pale cream colored coat, almost white. Golden blond hair with streaks of royal blue or purple. Eyes are dark blue.

Cutie mark is a compass.

Destiny…what is destiny….his points towards becoming King one day as an only child. Talented in exploration, reading maps, reading the stars and constellations, has an innate sense for which direction north south west and east is. Also talented in politics and public affairs. Holds a mask of nobility on his face like a master….he wishes he didn’t need to do that so much. He prefers singing shanties while on the sea with his crew. Loves exploring and learning new cultures. Meeting new people and making connections in new places. His personality comes off as blunt and perhaps even a bit of a dick head at first glance. You need to get to know him better first before you can get past the facade and see the real him. (Very different from his canon counterpart. Most notably he would never use Rarity as a meat shield…how dishonorable and disrespectful. That’s not how HE was taught how a Prince acts.)

“Shining Armor” Stellar Stargaze-

A unicorn with a passion for the art of offense and defense magics, not only because the art is rich in history but because he himself has a passion to protect others. Especially those closest to him. His parents are of noble blood, but many like him have to prove themselves as worthy of the noble title before he is accepted.

To his parents dismay he never cared for the mind games that was noble politics. He knew the songs and dances by heart, the hoops to jump through, but all he ever saw was a battle field made of castle halls and ballroom floors. He never liked leaving the common citizen out of the conversations on politics. He hates what he has learned about those he used to consider friends.

He’s terrified how his parents reacted when Twilight got her cutie mark.

He knew how opportunistic nobles were, but he never thought his parents would try and use their own daughter to gain influence and power. Sell themselves to the cult of magic if it meant glory. He wasn’t going to stand for it. He was going to use everything they taught him against them and keep his little sister safe. He has connections in high places, childhood friends with High Prince BlueBlood, was in the guard with a changeling from a hive who lives in the Ever Free called Pharynx, pen pals with the changeling princess who was so curious about life outside the hive of Ever Free Cadence.

Has a path and that path leads straight towards the Ever Free. It’s safer than staying in the capital where the cult after them runs rampant.

Stellar has always been more of the parental figure for Twilight, their parents being irresponsible and neglectful. They never hired enough workers to watch over the two so Stellar stepped up and made sure Twilight was fed, bathed, sent to bed, went to school, doctor’s appointments……he took his role so seriously that he was willing to uproot their entire lives and make a new one elsewhere.

Cadence was so happy to meet him in person for the first time…despite the circumstances. She led them to the Eye of the Ever Free, where not only Lord Starswirl was often, but the first temple of the sisters is. The Tree of harmony lays its roots, and where the sisters themselves call home most often.

Stellar never expected to meet the Goddesses himself, but apparently they had felt the magic tremors and were waiting to see what it was. They were surprised to see three children on their doorstep, a nearly crying overworked teenager, and a terrified crying pre teen holding a screaming baby. All three marked by destiny for something greater

Types of Dragons- (to be added and edited as world building continues)

Dragons are a species heavily influenced by elemental magic. Subspecies of dragon often rely heavily upon their inner magic and environments ambient magic.

Arctic Dragons: Born in the frozen north, these dragons are aligned with ice, wind, and water. Thick coats of polar bear like fur. Their underbelly is plated with scales for protection against sharp ice and cave floors. They tend to live underground in the cave systems of the frozen north. They have a long history with the Crystal Empire. In the wastes of the frozen north you need all the allies you can get, and befriending the dragons who can traverse the bitter cold with little problem is a good thing. - [think like a smaller version of Japanese style dragons, not as noodle. Fuzzy lizards]

Volcanic Dragons: born in volcanic regions, these dragons are practically immune to heat, fire, and lava. With matching alignments in fire, wind, and earth. The first thing you think of when you hear dragon probably. Fire breathing and lava bathing, covered in mostly thick rock like scales. They sadly have a rocky relationship with their pony neighbors despite their efforts to appease. Ponies just have to many expectations….and frankly many impossible expectations. They consider dragon culture “greedy” but have never stopped to consider that since rocks/minerals, gemstones and metals are a staple food source that “hoards” are the equivalent of a pantry. Despite their rocky relationship with many ponies, they get along well with Earth ponies who have a diet that leans towards rocks minerals and gemstones. These ponies at least know what they’re talking about, these ponies are hoot to be around. They adore exchanging recipes. Baked goods with sapphire? Delightful! - [for a good description think of the western style dragons, or the canon ones I guess.]

Empyrean Dragons: Born in the tops of mountains, in cloud cities, or in the branches of ancient trees. These dragons are aligned with air/wind, electric, water, and ice. Considered the dragons of the skies and heavens. These dragons are often the go to for depicting deities like the Celestial sisters. Long bodied, covered in decent amount of fur, scaled underbelly, and giant horns on their heads and often running down their backs. Wings are not required for flight when you are aligned with the sky itself. They have good relationships with other flying creatures like gryphons, Pegasus, and Harpies (what I call the anthro birds) - [Japanese dragons basically. Fuzzy noodle dragons. 👍]

What Species is Spike/Astral?

His egg was from an Empyrean Dragon. But who the egg came from means very little other than aesthetic changes, what matters most is where the egg was fertilized, incubated, and hatched.

Astral is a conundrum for the dragon species as a whole. His egg was never properly fertilized by another dragon, supposedly a dud egg never to hatch. He was never incubated properly due to this reason, his incubation period was rapid and frankly dangerous. Being fertilized by the magic of six ponies destined for greater things via a rainbow in the sky, incubated rapidly and hatched in the eye of the storm of one of the six ponies catastrophic magic surge.

Cradled in the heart of magic itself, Astral was born. A brand new kind of dragon aligned purely with magic just like his mother/sister.

He has many similarities to Empyrean dragons in looks alone. Horns on his head and back, no wings, a mixture of fur and scales. He’s a bit squat right now and not very long but he is also still in his childhood, don’t be mean to him about his length he will tell uncle Shining or Starswirl on you.

The Tree of Harmony -

Two trees intertwined, one made of bright white crystal and the other made of darker night sky like crystal. These two trees combined create the illusion of one tree, the tree of Harmony. One tree represents order and the other represents chaos.

There are three fruit on each tree, and one that combines the trees together.

Tree of order: Elements of Honesty/Strength, Kindness/Caring, and Loyalty/Bravery

Tree of Chaos: Elements of Laughter/Joy, Generosity/Charity, and Change/Hope

Both: Magic/Union/Unity

Its creation- Celestia and Luna planted two seeds next to each other in the garden of their first temple/holy ground at the center of the Ever Free Forest. It’s a symbol of their sisterhood, their joint godhood, and their love for each other despite their differences and conflicts. The fruits regrow whenever they are needed most. Usually a few at a time. There has never been a time where all the fruit has been needed……yet.

The ever free forest -

The Ever Free Forest is a huge circle of trees, double sided like a yin yang symbol. One side has more order magic and the other more chaos magic, And in the center that combines the forest together is the tree of harmony and the very first temple of the Twin Celestial Goddesses. The Temple of the Two sisters.

The Forest of Decorum, one half of the Ever Free. Defined by its abundance of order in its ambient magic. The creatures here are like star maps, constellations, trails weathered into the dirt. The Ursa species line makes its home here, giant bears made of stardust. There are other stardust creatures here, some are even sapient. centaur and Minotaur are notable examples of two that wander the trees. Creatures that look like they fell from the sky or straight from the dreamscape itself.

The Forest of Dissonance, the other half of the Ever Free, defined by its ambient magic rich in chaos. You will find creatures like chimera’s here, manticore, timber wolves, and phoenix’s. Like the world itself is coming to life around you. A small kingdom of Crystal “Ponies” live here, connected with the earth and plant life surrounding them, some even connected with chaos itself.

The center of the forest, the Forest of Ever Free, the Eye, the Trees resting place, or the Goddess’s palace. You’ll find a blend of creatures here, surrounding the Temple of the two sisters. And the priests of harmony Amity Accord and eventually his brother Tumultuous Discord live here. Tumultuous Discord’s statue is kept in the forest of Dissonance until he is finally freed.

Notable Plants in the Ever Free Forest besides the Tree of harmony

The Center- (the obvious being the Tree of Harmony and its fruit)

Zap Apples are a rare fruit only found in the center of the forest. Found on seemingly ordinary Apple trees, these apples ripen into their notable rainbow and electrified appearance once every Blue Moon. Packs of Timber wolves howl and dormant chaotic electric magic starts coming out of the trees into the apples. Cultivation of these fruit is difficult but not impossible, a certain Family of Earth pony Cow/bull hybrids would know. Especially their elder that is still alive today, Granny Anne Smith.

Decorum-

The Forest trees on this side of the forest are strangely crystal like, the leaves glow and glisten, and the roots look like they pulsate with magic. Full of order magic these trees are an extension of the order half of the tree of harmony.

Giant dark blue star speckled mushrooms known as dream mushrooms may be found. They shed spores that look and feel like golden sand. These spores are often used for hour glasses. If eaten it is said you may be able to contact one of the celestial sisters, in reality eating them just gives very vivid dreams. Possibly even lucid dreams. Now depending upon where you sleep could you run into the sisters? Unlikely but not impossible. Don’t expect goddesses in your bedroom. Their use for hour glass making is more symbolic than anything, regular sand works just fine. Your golden hour glass may become enchanted over time but that requires a lot of time mortals don’t have. If your hour glass making skills are good you may pass on a very important heirloom through out the ages however. The oldest known spore hourglass is Canterlot libraries giant time piece.

A rare unnamed breed of white and blue lily can be found in the decorum forest. Absolutely filled with order magic. And deep intense sorrow and grief. These flowers are considered endangered and are not allowed to be used for spells or rituals. Besides it’s hard to use them when you can’t stop crying while you’re near them. (The Forest of decorums “poison joke” they only bloom when Discords Twin brother Starswirl Amity is in the forest to cry alone)

Dissonance-

The Forest Trees on this side have deep dark brown bark that looks almost like shadows with gnarled faces. The leaves look relatively normal, green like a plant should act. Perhaps some look like insects flying by. Perhaps the shadows they cast look like limbs and claws scratching on the ground reaching out for you. They are full of chaos magic extensions of the chaos side of the tree of harmony.

Golden apple trees look absolutely stunning, trees seemingly of solid gold, leaves seemingly made of gold foil, apples that are seemingly rare quality you’re able to eat. They do absolutely nothing that ordinary apples can’t. And that Zap Apples can’t do BETTER. But the gold luster is luring for the rich and greedy. And maybe because they are a little bit chaotic in nature. They are useless for anything else but being food, but many beings will brave the dangers of the chaotic forest to get them. They cannot be grown outside the forest of dissonance, and they cannot be cultivated by mortals. They are a divine prank and nothing more.

Poison joke is a beautiful blue breed of lily flower that sprung up around Lord Discords statue after his imprisonment. It is a chaotic poison that has a convoluted cure. If touched it will do whatever it deems funniest to you. A “joke”. Someone who is known for their strength will find themselves helpless. Their abilities in magic their way of casting ruined. A fire breathing dragon with a sore throat. A racing Pegasus who can now only fly backwards. If untreated for too long the effects may get more severe and become permanent or even fatal.

Current deities in existence-

Deities are basically timeless. They have always existed yet somehow they are born in different time periods and places. The pantheon is a strange place, you can have a run in with yourself there if you’re not careful. The pantheon is the meeting place for all gods. The middle ground between temples and holy grounds.

Two particular deities have existed since the dawn of time and are considered as old as the universe itself. They are basically the keepers of time and space. Of order and chaos. Celestia and Luna are not to be trifled with. They will watch other gods be born and die yet they will always remain until the death of the very universe they call home.

There are ancient deities. There are elder deities. There are Demi deities. There are newly formed deities. Twin deities (siblings, couples, friends forever). Cursed deities/spirits (often called Lords).

The Celestial Sisters- Sol “Celestia” Crepuscule and Eventide “Luna” Elysia- Ancient - born as deities - always depicted as sisters, often as twins connected at the tail

The Lord of Madness- “Sombra” Somber Night- born an umbra crystal pony hybrid- thousands of years old - most common depiction is a mass of shadows and crystal dust

The Lord of Chaos- Tumultuous “Discord”- born a Pegasus- thousands of years old- most commonly depicted as a serpent with mishmash of different races and species branching off

The Lord of Order- Amity Accord - born a unicorn- thousands of years old- most commonly depicted as a white/gray serpent covered in stars and swirls.

The Lord of Hunger- Queen Chrysalis -born a changeling and dragon hybrid- thousands of years old - most common depiction is of a locust breed of changeling or as a dragon

The Deities of Love and War/The Newly Weds - Cadence Mi Amore and “Shining Armor” Stellar Stargaze- born a changeling (cadence) and a unicorn (Shining)- Newly Ascended - most common depictions are of a changeling and unicorn/alicorn due to their recent ascent

The wonder bolts is not a military organization or purely just a racing group. They’re more like a public service like fire fighters. It’s can be an extremely dangerous profession to be in. But it is an important job.

There are many sub sections of the wonder bolts. Fire duty, Weather monitoring, storm chasers and storm study, life guards at watery locations and the edges of cloud cities, postal services, and the most dangerous being weather management and control.

There is still a group of racers for the Wonder bolts. To help with Public reputation, and to help get money for all the other services the wonder bolts provide. They cycle racers around, to make sure everyone is doing public service instead of just racing on the track.

Spitfire is a Pegasus with a fire alignment who you most often see in the fire fighting duties. She can stay in a burning area for an extended period of time with no damage to her bedside the worry of smoke inhalation. But that’s what her gear is for isn’t it? Many wonder if she’s on racing duty so much is because she puts herself in harms way so often.

Soarin is a Pegasus with water and wind alignments. He is often a life guard. Why is he so often a racer? Many ponies find him pretty attractive and they get more money if he’s on the racing team. He actually doesn’t really like the attention all that much. Spitfire is often getting in the way of cameras and interviewers for his sake. They’re childhood friends!

Some Other Wonder Bolts -

Bubble Wrap “Derpy/Ditzy” Hooves- Pegasus

Derpy and Ditzy is a mean spirited nickname from flight school, these days she has reclaimed the name for herself and only allows close friends and family to call her that. She works for the postal service section of the wonder bolts, being one of the best package carriers in Equestria. Both for speed of delivery and for keeping packages intact. For someone as clumsy as her you’d think she’d be the last person to go to for such a service, but here in Equestria she is known for not just delivering packages but an invention named after her. Bubble wrap. Cloud/bubble like packaging materials that surround an item in its packaging during transport. Different textures for different items that may need different support. She makes bubble wrap packaging with a combination of her inner elemental magics and supplies bought from sweet Apple acres. Everything is biodegradable!

ThunderLane- winged Kirin

Thunder is an electric and wind aligned Kirin with a passion for chasing and studying storms. One day he hopes of joining the weather management and control group to see the storms even more closely. Another one often seen on the racing team for his electric personality and seemingly endless energy.

Surprise - Pegasus?

Surprise is known for being nearly indestructible, like a cartoon character. No one is sure if she’s actually fully a Pegasus, or even one at all. Her magical alignment is clearly chaos, and she finds thrill in being on the weather management and control team. Sometimes seen racing, her races are always a spectacle to watch. (Might have a relation to a certain element of laughter)

Types of Dragons- (to be added and edited as world building continues)

Dragons are a species heavily influenced by elemental magic. Subspecies of dragon often rely heavily upon their inner magic and environments ambient magic.

Arctic Dragons: Born in the frozen north, these dragons are aligned with ice, wind, and water. Thick coats of polar bear like fur. Their underbelly is plated with scales for protection against sharp ice and cave floors. They tend to live underground in the cave systems of the frozen north. They have a long history with the Crystal Empire. In the wastes of the frozen north you need all the allies you can get, and befriending the dragons who can traverse the bitter cold with little problem is a good thing. - [think like a smaller version of Japanese style dragons, not as noodle. Fuzzy lizards]

Volcanic Dragons: born in volcanic regions, these dragons are practically immune to heat, fire, and lava. With matching alignments in fire, wind, and earth. The first thing you think of when you hear dragon probably. Fire breathing and lava bathing, covered in mostly thick rock like scales. They sadly have a rocky relationship with their pony neighbors despite their efforts to appease. Ponies just have to many expectations….and frankly many impossible expectations. They consider dragon culture “greedy” but have never stopped to consider that since rocks/minerals, gemstones and metals are a staple food source that “hoards” are the equivalent of a pantry. Despite their rocky relationship with many ponies, they get along well with Earth ponies who have a diet that leans towards rocks minerals and gemstones. These ponies at least know what they’re talking about, these ponies are hoot to be around. They adore exchanging recipes. Baked goods with sapphire? Delightful! - [for a good description think of the western style dragons, or the canon ones I guess.]

Empyrean Dragons: Born in the tops of mountains, in cloud cities, or in the branches of ancient trees. These dragons are aligned with air/wind, electric, water, and ice. Considered the dragons of the skies and heavens. These dragons are often the go to for depicting deities like the Celestial sisters. Long bodied, covered in decent amount of fur, scaled underbelly, and giant horns on their heads and often running down their backs. Wings are not required for flight when you are aligned with the sky itself. They have good relationships with other flying creatures like gryphons, Pegasus, and Harpies (what I call the anthro birds) - [Japanese dragons basically. Fuzzy noodle dragons. 👍]

The scars are from the sonic rainboom induced magic surge she had as a kid. Her horn can’t grow fur at all anymore. She’s didn’t have the chest, back, and horn marks before the magic surge.

And Now Starswirl the bearded is a noodle who has adopted these two runaway unicorns that desperately need a tutor like him. The little purple one reminds him of his Stygian :)

Once Starswirl knows just why these two unicorns (and baby dragon oh goodness) have ran away from a seemingly cozy life in the Equestrian capital, he becomes very protective. He understands the ins and outs of the cult of magic and just what lengths they will go to once they fixate on a certain pony they think might be the ONE.

He must admit though, this Twilight Sparkle sure is the biggest contender yet. Even HE can’t read her magic alignment in his thousand years of experience.

There was once twin brothers, a unicorn and a Pegasus. One aligned with order, the other with chaos, other ponies were always weary of the one aligned with chaos. But his twin brother was always supportive of him, loved him dearly, and would never leave him behind. Even as the brother of order became one of the most renowned wizards of his age in order magic, he never left his dear brother behind, he encouraged his interests and talents.

The brother of chaos desperately wanted to get the same public approval and attention his brother had, maybe that’s a little jealous and selfish of him. But he spent his entire life trying desperately to conform but still being treated like a monster for his magic. So eventually he thought why should he continue to please others and just become the monster that they so obviously and desperately wanted him to be.

He was given this magic so why not use it to its full potential? He spiraled out of control, bringing the world into a reign of chaos and disorder.

And The goddesses of harmony did not take kindly to their domain being twisted and altered without their permission. If something wasn’t done right now things could get out of hand. The goddesses were getting angry, the people of the world were being affected by the chaos in unimaginable ways.

But The brother of order couldn’t bring himself to harm his brother, so he pleaded with the goddesses. Help him find a way to calm his brother down without hurting him. He would do anything for them if his brother returned to him unharmed and back to his usual self.

A deal was struck. The two brothers would become beasts of magic, the brother of chaos would be turned to stone by the brother of orders student and whoever the student could find to help him use the elements of harmony they provided. And the imprisonment would last one thousand years, and the brother of order would wait for him. Tasked with finding wielders of the elements of harmony for any problem that may arise in those years. Even if eventually one of those problems became his brother a thousand years later.
