Unfortunately, only three of us are able to attend Konsplosion, but weâre looking forward to seeing you all there!
Forezt will be cosplaying as Mikaela Hyakuya from Seraph of the End on Friday, Chiaki Nanami from Dangan Ronpa 2 on Saturday, and May from Pokemon Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire on Sunday. Tama will be Matt from Digimon Adventure Tri on Friday, Sheldon Cooper on Saturday, and Milly Thompson from Trigun on Sunday. Serah will be Asuna (in a lolita outfit) Friday night (she will be getting there late :â( ), Fractured Milla in her IdolMaster! outfit on Saturday, and Serah Farron from Final Fantasy 13 on Sunday.
Forezt and Serah are each hosting several panels, and Tama is hosting the Cosplay Contest!
Come to Konsplosion!!
We have a Cosplay Amino account now! If youâve joined this cosplay bandwagon, please check us out! If you havenât joined yet, maybe this will entice you to do so... ;)

Iâm in love with me in this selfie. I showed it to Mom and said, âLOOK HOW HANDSOME I AM!â [ #miroku #inuyasha #inuyashacosplay #mirokucosplay #cosplay #hotdamn ] Where Sango at?
Dressing up as others is what has taught me to love myself
My friend when I asked what Cosplay had done for her
Sadly we will not be returning to the #glitchcon today, so instead, weâd like to introduce and shoutout the Con-Fam Squad! Some arenât pictured here, but did hang out with us yesterday for a bit, and some we have probably forgotten to tag, (many apologies in advance!) but let us just say that you guys made the con 100x more fun than it would have been. Thanks a ton, and we hope to see some of you at the meet up next weekend!
For all of my friends who cosplay âŠ
Next time you watch a big-budget movie or tv series, I want you to look at the credits, and count the number of people involved in costuming. Costume design, tailors, seamstresses, leather-workers, agers/dyers, embroiderers, hair/wigs, make-up, metal-work, prop building, etc, etc.
Then remember that most of you do ALL OF THE ABOVE, usually solo, in cramped bedrooms and kitchens and garages â typically on shoe-string budgets, and squeezed into the hours around work and/or school.
Are you proud of yourselves yet? Because I am. I am bloody amazed at the talent & creativity & work you all put in. Youâre Jacks + Jills of all trades and deserve to feel a massive sense of accomplishment for that.
Some truth right here.Â
My basic-ass closet cosplay helped get me into a highly selective costume design program at my last university. My primary professor at the time has worked on Tony-award-winning productions and has done two tours costuming for Britney Spears.
My professors had all done professional theatrical work before for decades, and they were seriously impressed by even basic cosplay simply for the wide range of talents necessary to pull off even ONE costume.
Cosplay impresses people who have done this shit professionally. Keep it up you beautiful nerds.
some of our TnT 2015 selfies
One of my favorite pictures from the con so far. We were waiting for Rachelâs panel, but then we had to change into Ouran for a panel. I am determined to see her today so we can get a picture! And Bri is the perfect Lightning! đ #finalfantasy13 #finalfantasycosplay #cosplay #ffxiii #ff13 #tnt2015 #tokyointulsa2015 #fang #lightningfarron

Basic Cosplay Tips: How to UP YOUR GAME (without going totally broke)
[Please take heed: the linked content is not under my control and some of it is slut shamey and body shamey and iirc there may be a few binarist/transphobic comments in the makeup tutorial? So tread lightly and remember to take these with a grain of salt. Amassing knowledge is the point, even if you donât use it all.]
Iron your costume! If youâre sewing, iron your fabric before you work with it (and donât forget to pre-wash it, either).
If youâre at a con, bring safety pins with you. Bring them with you everywhere. You never know when you might need one. Bring a  compact mirror, too.
Do you need a certain shade of lipstick thatâs IMPOSSIBLE to find? Donât waste a shit ton of money. Mix some eyeshadow or eyeliner or other face-safe pigment into a glob of vaseline until itâs an even consistency. You can store the lipstick in a contacts case! (video tutorial)
Practice posing! Learn the basic mistakes people make in posing for pictures and figure out what looks best for you. This guide is super helpful, as is this video, and these links: [1] [2] [3] [this one has the video in it i think]
Even if your character wears literally no makeup, you probably should! Even if itâs just a little bit of foundation and some eyeliner, itâll keep you from looking strung out and greasy in pictures. I learned a ton from this tutorial set. This post is also really helpful.
Wigs are your friends.
No really, they are. By using your real hair you run a risk of doing actual damage to your body or, like a friend of mine, going back to your agricultural college after a con weekend with fuchsia hair. Wigs can be expensive, but so can hair-care, and you only have to buy and style a wig once (if cared for properly). I buy most of my wigs off of ebay and 95% of my wig experiences have been perfectly fine! On average my wigs have cost me about $15 per, even the extremely long ones! Unless you need a lacefront or something with incredible body (and there are ways around that, too!) thereâs no reason to break the bank on a wig.Â
(If you DO need a REALLY GOOD WIG for whatever reasons, Arda, MatchWigs, Amphigory, and Cosworx all have good recommendations.)
But whatever wig you buy, donât leave it unstyled. This guide is pretty helpful, but the things I suggest investing in are: - a blowdryer - a wig head - got2b glued hair spray (ESSENTIAL!!!) - scissors (really any old scissors will do. itâs how you use them thatâs important!) - a comb (or an assortment of combs) (these can be bought at the dollar store) - plastic curlers
An unstyled wig is obvious and often too long and looks bad. Even if your makeup and clothes are pristine, a bad wig or bad hair can make your cosplay blow hard.
A wig from Party City is also a bad idea. Itâll cost you about as much as a wig from ebay and it will immediately and eternally look like butt. There are some tricks you can use to battle this but Iâm not sure how effective they are.Â
If youâre going to wear a wig (or a bald cap), get a wig cap and learn how to use it!Â
(I will be filming a wig styling tutorial very soon to show you how to tackle wigcraft and wigzardry if youâre wary of screwing up.)
Choose a costume you can feel confident wearing! If youâre constantly worried about how much of your butt is hanging out of your microshorts, or if you canât see where youâre going, itâs going to be way less fun (and possibly dangerous).
Iâve accumulated my supplies over a long period of time! Makeup and wigs and fabric and basically everything about cosplay is expensive, and even the little things add up. Learn where your Goodwills and thrift shops are and shop wisely! If youâre going to buy a wig off of ebay, keep in mind that youâll need to order it about a month in advance to make sure it gets to you on time.Â
Are you ready for an adventure?
