When Amal surprised me by telling me she named her newborn after me, I felt like part of my heart had gone to Gaza and remained there ever since.
This part of my heart is now breaking. Amal, who's been on a poor diet because she can't afford better food, is unable to breastfeed baby Mina any longer, and is unable to afford enough formula to compensate, and now both mother and baby are weak and malnourished.
Amal is suffocating from the stress of having to provide for her daughters. Her husband Motasem is doing everything he can (recently, he was almost caught in a bombing while trying to get food) but they're both overwhelmed. I wish there was anything I can do for them.
I'm begging you to donate if you can and share if you can't. I want, more than anything in this world, for these kids to grow up healthy and for their parents to be able to rest.
In my absence, Eman's village's situation has been getting worse, far far worse. As the fabric of Sudan's medical and other social infrastructures have been destroyed by war and genocide, displaced people are seeing a high risk of disease outbreaks amongst them. This is what Eman's village is currently going through, and her family has been one of many affected by dengue fever.
Eman is scared, alone, and feels like her family's situation is invisible. Please show her that she isn't alone, and that her and her family and her village aren't invisible. Please if you can spare anything, help Eman out.

For two years, war interrupted my education and future plans.
Despite everything, I completed my Bachelor's degree in Computer Systems Engineering and continued supporting students through educational initiatives in Gaza.
Today, I am taking the first step toward my Master's degree.
🎯 Goal: $300
⏳ Deadline: 6 Days
This amount will help cover university application fees and the first steps toward graduate studies.
Missing these deadlines could mean postponing my dream for another year.

Every dollar brings me closer to continuing my education and helping others through it.
There are only two days left to register for graduate studies at the university, and I still need an additional $170 to register. It's a simple goal, and I'm trying to achieve it today: to give a student from Gaza the opportunity to register for graduate studies and secure my future!
I am also 100% on board with him having fucked up. 10/10, no notes, this story is feeding me so well right now. I love exactly where it’s at, as well as all the potential the story has for future development.
Character/story exploration below, so if you don’t want anything to do with critical analysis, look away.
The first way Nirei fucked up: He fell for Suo's verbal bullshit, landed right in the same trap he's seen Suo set up for others over and over.
Do I find it believable that Nirei fell for it? Yep. Nirei doesn't expect Suo to pull that shit on him, nor is Nirei especially adept at defending himself from such behavior.
The second way Nirei fucked up: He chose violence.
Nirei. Was. The Aggressor.
Even if he's a sweet little blorbo and is all that is beautiful and good in the world, he is still the one who started the fight. Suo did not choose to fight -- he answered Nirei's demand to fight and defended himself. (Not just that, but based on what was shown, Suo defended himself properly and directly, rather than “playing with his food” as he often does. However, this post is not about Suo, so I’m setting that aside.)
The moment Nirei chose to fight, he lost. Suo, Nirei, and we the audience all knew there was no shot in hell Nirei could win in a physical fight. What outcome was Nirei hoping to achieve by choosing violence? He wanted answers, but forcing answers out of Suo through a fight was not something he was capable of achieving. Which means Nirei fucked up by choosing an action that was highly unlikely to achieve his desired outcome.
It makes complete sense that Nirei chose to fight for a lot of reasons, which is why I'm enthusiastically on board with him having made the wrong choice:
The people Nirei admires use fighting to communicate and resolve issues. Nirei is striving to be like those people, especially Sakura.
Given his current circumstances in the story, Nirei is stressed and anxious and not thinking straight. He panicked.
He's an information guy but not a master strategist -- he failed to think of an alternative solution under pressure. His opponent is a master strategist, as the story has established in multiple ways.
I love conflicts where character behavior rings TRUE, and everything about this situation rings true to me.
Did Nirei have other options to take if he'd been thinking straight? Yes.
He could have used his phone to call for back up while doing EXACTLY what Suo taught him: keeping his eyes on his opponent. He could have stalled for time and followed Suo. But, c’mon, narratively, that’d be a helluva lot less interesting, at least in my opinion. This situation opens the door for so many great possibilities in the story, and I’m GIDDY to see where Nii-sensei is going to take it.
If Nirei hadn't fucked up, this would all be over way too quickly.
I hope this is going to be fuel for Nirei’s personal growth because that’s something I’d love to see. We’ve seen Sakura growing in leaps and bounds, and I feel like this is a great time to put some story fuel into Sakura's first real fan and #1 backer.
the best fanfiction you've ever read was written by a woman in her 40s before she made dinner for her kids. it was written by a teenager after school when they should've been studying for a history test. and a barista came up with the idea while they cleaned the espresso machine and busser fact-checked it on their break and the post-doc edited between writing grant proposals and the nurse apologized for typos in the notes after a long shift and behind every drabble and one-shot and multi-chapter fic there is a person with a wonderful and interesting and chaotic life and it is such a privilege that we get to be a part of it because they decided to do this thing we all share, for fun.
I have considered the angle that Firin wasn't directly threatened at any point, like, they didn't care where Suo was going every day but rather Suo left because with things worse I g he could no longer come and go but also he must have been pretty exhausted and I'm a firm believer that Suo didn't want them to see how he slowly deteriorates under the weight of everything, because then they should press, and if he had left with any other excuse they'd ended up getting worried about him and tracking him down, and RC might have seen them as enemies because they're a gang from another town, they're outsiders.
Maybe Suo doesn't want to involve them, doesn't want them to see who he is and what's going on with him.
Maybe Suo just wants to keep being Suo for them, because Suo is a teenager who loves messing around with his friends, joking, helping out and hanging out. He doesn't want them to know that he's Sun Fei, the officer somewhere else, because Sun Fei has too much on his shoulders, too many people to care about... And maybe if they knew he's not using his full potential they'd get mad at him or force him into more work, He doesn't want to be Sun Fei where he finally found some freedom...
Also, once again, he doesn't want them to see him at his worst because he knows they'd do something and then they'd get in trouble, so when he saw Nirei wouldn't back down he went the extra mile, make sure they "hate" him so they won't come after him
He didn't go to Sakura because he knew how it was going to break him and couldn't bear to see it.
He probably blames himself, he probably thinks they hate him and are trying to forget him, or he hopes that's the case.

Hey artists, C. Spike Trotman, founder of Iron Circus Comics, just posted an invaluable thread on depicting different types of black hair. I’d do the thing where you screencap the whole thread and post it but it’s just too long (which is great because it’s a whole lot of useful information!) Give her a follow while you’re there.
Anyway, go check it out. I just wanted to save it and share it because I didn’t know how much I didn’t know!
This is an amazing resource, not only for artists, but for writers too! I love this!
