does anyone know what this miranda's rescue situation is in northern california i got recommended some police press release footage ig about how theyre continuing to search for missing animals apparently theres like 700 unaccounted for. i dont want to watch 25 minutes of press release, they appear to be out there digging, saw someone say someone bought a house next to the property specifically to investigate themselves what this rescue is doing. anyone know anything about this

It looks like an animal advocate who had concerns about the number of animals that were getting placed at the rescue is the one that bought a house next to the rescue. Apparently she saw someone burying 'large objects' and went over and excavated it, finding dead dogs.

From what I could find out, Miranda's rescue took in like 900 animals in about a year, and has only rehomed a bit over a hundred of them, which is where the 700 missing come into play. It seems like they were getting paid to take in animals, particularly ones with bite risk or behavioural issues. They're supposedly a no kill rescue but I think the assumption is that they've likely killed most of the animals that are missing at the moment.

They're being investigated for animal abuse and also for fraud (I'm assuming in relation to the payments they got for taking in animals, and potentially for donations they recieved but idk). I found a reddit thread and some articles, I've linked the article w/ the most info below.
