Fabric and Sewing Supplies

I have a family of people who craft, sew, quilt, and cosplay. With the fall of Joann and the impending doom of the Big 4 pattern companies (my mother is devastated), I compiled a spreadsheet of sewing shops. It is a mix of my own research and suggestions from the internet (including Tumblr and Reddit). If someone gave any information about what the store/website offered, I included it. I am located in Texas, so the ones in yellow at the top are specifically physical locations that my family can reasonably road trip to. If anyone has any suggestions for additions to make, please let me know and I'll try to add them.

in 2004 a thread started on buffistas.org to discuss tropes used in Buffy and other Whedonverse shows. At the time there were no formal names for most tropes so users assigned them names based on the scenes they were discussing. This thread inspired one of the site members to start the website TVTropes.org

Most of the listings on TVtropes were named after scenes and quotes from Buffy the Vampire Slayer

We were doing an activity where the kids got to make a playbill for a musical about themselves and all the other kids were like “character list: mommy, daddy, me, my brother, my best friend” “scenes: I get a puppy, first day of school, my baby sister is born”

But one little girl was like “oh, it’s a musical about ME you say” and the character list was all the other girls in the class cast as her body parts, and a story about how her body works.

“Kaylee is nice so she will be the heart. Lily is my kidneys. Sapphire is the lungs.”

She surreptitiously showed me that the girl who kept taking the crayons she was using was cast specifically as “left buttcheek” and I had to pretend like that wasn’t the funniest thing I’d ever seen.

The Rodeo Rule: you only have to do it for the first time once.

The Rohan Rule: if you are at a social function full of new people and you want to be liked, find someone doing important work like setup or food prep and offer to help.

The Tutorial Mode Rule: to navigate an unfamiliar situation where you fear you will mess up an interaction, preface the interaction by mentioning that you've never done this before, and let them know if you have a specific concern or question.

The Rocket Science Rule: most new things you want to try seem very complicated but are simple when taken step by step.

The [X] Will Remember That Rule: if you need to make small talk with the same person on a regular basis, try to save one fact or current event in their life from a given conversation and bring it up next time you talk.

The Cool Binder Rule: by wearing clothes and accessories that are to your taste instead of trying to blend in, people will be more likely to compliment you and show interest in you as a person.

The last two are important in reverse as well, as in - there will be times in your life where you need to interact with someone and you hope like hell that they don't remember you and don't notice you

You'll have a better chance of being nondescript if you wear something that you don't particularly love, but also that isn't deliberately "a disguise" (ie, don't try Invisibility Hi-viz-vest unless you usually wear some kind of safety gear in your day to day life, otherwise you'll look like you're in a costume), and just by not following-up on someone's conversational openers ("I went to italy last month" "Oh, that's nice (downward inflection, silence)"), they'll categorise you as not someone that needs remembering.

Why is it that every time I google something like "Are olives poisonous to cats" the top results are always like "Fun fact: Cats are carnivores! This means that they eat meat. There is no reason to include olives in a cat's diet. You should feed your cat cat food, which is dry or wet food especially designed for cats. You can purchase this at a store." like is there a single person alive on the planet who's googled "Are blueberry muffins safe for cats" because they're planning on switching their cat to a muffin-only diet??? No, I'm asking because the little bastard somehow popped open the packet while I was putting away the groceries and dragged one under the couch before I could react and now I need to know if I should call the after-hours vet. I've been using the pet poison hotline's poison list cause it has a search function. It also tells you whether something is mildly, moderately, or severely toxic which can be very handy! It doesn't contain like everything but it might be a good place to start, it also includes plants for fellow houseplant lovers <3

The deuteranomaly and protanomaly ones are very similar but they are different. The purple section ranges out a little farther to the right in the protanomaly one. Not seeing the difference between might not indicate color blindness but rather difficulty with color differentiation.
