She/Him, Ao3: DuruDuru. Asks and DMs are open for anything! Local Four fanatic and Warrahim enjoyer. Pfp from Project Sekai: Colourful Stage! Feat. Hatsune Miku Banner is Neuro-Sama
Hi! I know lots of people do some type of introductions in this place, so I will too! The name's Shii (but you can call me DuruDuru too), and I use She/Him.
This blog is mainly for Linked Universe and potentially my own Links AU in the future, but for now only LU. Outside of yapping about characters™, I'm going to post my fics, headcanons, and LU AUs here!
Outside of LU, I love some other Links AUs like House of Heroes and Linked Maze! I also love Pokemon (anime and games), Persona, and Project Sekai!
My DMs are open if you want to talk, and my little submission box is open if you want to yap about anything, give ideas, or anything of the sort :)
Warriors, paranoia, and traitors… a beloved trope in this community, and something I also enjoy. I know a lot of people explore these themes with premises like, “warriors suspects the Chain,” “warriors has trust issues,” but! I think it could be interesting if people actually took it in the opposite direction.
Consider: yes, warriors is experienced with traitors. He’s also someone who’s often written with royal politics experience. Always charming, a figurehead in his Hyrule, a war captain. He’s gone through brainwashed knights, dark versions of himself, dark versions of his allies, betrayals even on the enemy’s side. Consider fanon, where he’s experienced years of people trying to poison him, assassinate him, and blame him for the war. He's been through a lot..!
But rather than become distrustful of everyone around him, I think warriors is someone who’s extremely analytical and proficient in reading people. I think warriors would become someone who can sniff out a traitor right away, and that he’d have confidence in this.
hi here’s my unnecessarily long thinkpost on wars and his relationship with trust, traitors, and surveillance.
On trusting the chain more, I’m also just fond of the idea that sharing the hero’s spirit gives them all a sort of… unbreakable bond of faith and love. And I don’t mean this in the sense that they’re a perfectly healthy and functional group—learning to fight alongside each other is a canon struggle. But I simply don’t think warriors would doubt the chain to such an extreme extent that he'd hurt or put them in danger. His own journey was full of allies from other worlds that saved him at his lowest time, after all, with him only regaining the master sword’s “true power” when he “[understood] the bonds of friendship” (a real quote from the game narration lol).
And so consider the alternative… where he’s watches and catalogues everything about the Chain, not because he’s suspicious, but because he cares about them. Hyper-vigilance? Contingency planning? All this means that he can instantly tell when someone is acting off or hiding an injury. He’s seen the kind of things people say to try to get his guard down, or when they’re not themselves, and its very difficult to fool him; he’s not paranoid about his allies, he’s prepared. Just look at the way he gives advice Wild. He’s someone who is always actively reading those around him (both emotionally and physically) and trying to help.
As a war captain, he should also know that paranoia can lead to even more infighting: witch hunts, false accusations, I mean, a big part of the game also includes keeping up your army’s morale. If there’s any doubt to be had, he should be quick and efficient in addressing it and solving the problem.
Also… I think warriors + paranoia in relation to cia rather than traitors is an underutilized concept. Because stalking? A stalker that can observe you across all of time and space?? Even if his journey ended with cia defeated and no longer evil,… it’s not like cia/lana’s feelings for link disappeared. They accepted their fate as an unrequited lover and resumed their activities as the overseer of the triforce. Warriors can’t even complain because it’s their duty to be watching over heroes like him. Now that many of them are all gathered together… who knows when she’s watching. What she thinks. Feels. Does he trust that darkness will not enter her heart again? Being under constant surveillance, even when its out of love and duty can be extremely heavy.
A bit of a tangent, but I also like to think that in contrast to being an extremely skilled people-reader, he’d be absolutely awful when it comes to himself. “Wow my hearts beating really fast whenever I see rose gardens whats up with that” “Wow I guess that statue of Wild made it a little hard to breathe but That’s just how it is.” Wars is lecturing everyone on making sure to ask for help when needed and then going “what? Trauma? Emotional suppression? …Do you mean you need help with that?” and he means that genuinely. He’s gotten so good at putting on a façade, of always needing a façade, that it makes you wonder if he even remembers he’s wearing one in the first place.
Now tie in his identity as a very public hero and figurehead for those in his era. Consider that he’s a Link often discussed in relation to his looks. This is a person who is constantly being watched. Observed. Digested. He’s good at reading people, and he’s aware he’s always being read by others too. So what's the plan, captain, where to next, captain. C'mon, we're alone, no need to be so tense, captain! Captain, is someone there?
When you close your eyes, who do you see looking back at you in the dark?
Idk if you remember me, but I made a fic of one of your AUs—the 2 adventures AU! I was wondering if you were okay with me writing more with it? I can give you the details if you want too
Of course I remember you!! I loved the fic you wrote.
I am more than okay with it, please don’t feel like it’s necessary to ask. If something inspires you, I’d hate to be the force to get in your way. I would love the details!
I'm glad you likes the first fic I wrote if the AU! I got the writing bug back and suddenly got brainworms for it again, so I wanted to ask before I posted anything—it's not near finished, but still.
Anyways! The story starts not long after the first fic ends, and it's just Wars struggling😭 he's going through the motions man...
Trying to understand that everyone is an adult and he's starting a NEW journey with them where he doesn't need to be the leader (he's still acting like a leader who takes too much responsibility) whilst processing the fact that his OWN adventure just ended isn't very easy.
Also he and Ravio are besties and this is relevant (he is called Captain Linky)
except it still it starts off with just Link being one guy. then he gets hit by a magical isekai truck, but instead of being sent to a differernt world, he splits into four. shenanigans ensue
I just fully believe that Sky is the kind of person who absolutely makes sure he's strong enough to lift up any one of his friends (yes, including Groose) and being as he's clingy, that carries over to him liking carrying his loved ones around as well. The 'pick up' urge is not limited to animals and Legend when turned into a bunny, no! It applies to everyone, and that would 100% include Time and the professors of Skyloft if he was particularly happy with them.
This man lifts when he hugs. Definitely gives "spin you around while hugging you" vibes, especially with Zelda.
He will totally be the type of dad who refuses to stop lifting his kids up, and if they get too big for him to carry he will probably be utterly broken hearted and training to be stronger just so he can lift them again, because nothing matters more to him than keeping his loved ones close and safe, and right up in his arms is the best place for that <3
I'm writing a Shadow-focused fic (Ik, shocker) where he and Four (kinda) meets the chain. But...I can't decide when to reveal that he's not Hylian!!! There's one scene that could easy be the reveal, but Idk if I want everyone to learn of it then, outside of just some. And what happened after...
Would they accept it right away? Would Shadow willingly go back to them right away? Sometimes I have writing without a plan, but that's 99% of the fics I do, so I just gotta continue it...
But it has Warrahim so it's automatically gonna be good anyways
I know most of the Link’s kind of have ambiguous families or are just straight up orphans but Sky’s origins are particularly mysterious to me. Like we intentionally know that Time is an orphan, his mother died getting him into the lost woods. Four has a father and grandfather, Wind has a grandmother and sister, Twilight has an adoptive family (I think?), Legend had/has an uncle, and Wild had a family. Wars doesn’t mystify me as much bc he’s working as a soldier, it can be assumed he grew up somewhere else, and Hyrule doesn’t have anyone in his game so he just very much has wandering orphan vibes (There’s weird non canon stuff from the 80s but I don’t count it).
Sky, however, is surrounded by people in their families. Like everyone else in the academy has a family member yet they don’t ever mention Sky’s. Like not even if they had died when he was young or anything, like Sun’s mom.
So, I created my own backstory to fill in the gaps as I play Skyward Sword.
I think the people of Skyloft found Sky as a really young child one day just sitting in front of the Goddess statue with a baby loftwing nestled into his side. This is confusing bc nobody has ever seen this child before and there’s no way he could have flown to the island at that age and on a loftwing of that size. So they send search parties looking for his parents but find nothing. The academy takes him in and the island kind of raises him.
I think Sun would bully him as really young kids, she’s very jealous of his close bond with his loftwing. Her father is kind of horrified that she’s bullying the orphaned mute kid so he forces her to be friends with him. She starts feeling really bad for how she treated him and pulls a 180 becoming his biggest defender and best friend. (I don’t think the bullying would be super serious just mean kid stuff)
She tries to teach him sign but he doesn’t seem to be picking it up so they just enjoy quiet company for a while. Randomly, like 4 years after his arrival he just starts talking. Probably something mundane to Sun like: “The sky is really pretty today…” and she’d be like: “Yeah it’s so pink-“ *neck crack* “whatdidyoujustsay”
And turns out he did pick up the sign she was teaching him he just… didn’t want to use it. Then people start asking him questions about how he got to the island but he genuinely can’t remember. He doesn’t even think he remembers his parents. He thinks he can recall a soft voice and strong arms but it might just be something he made up to soothe himself…
I love backstory headcanons!!! Honestly a pretty good one, since as you said, we don't really know much if anything about him before the story begins others than he's eepy in class.
...But I have my own backstory which I think is cool too.
Does it makes sense? In some parts, yes. Will it ever be any sembelence of real? Fuck no.
But that's what's fun!
So, Warriors met Sky as a kid.
...Okay, time to explain.
In Warriors' game, he goes up to Skyloft via a portal, where he fights with Ghirahim and Volga, meets both Fi and our favorite resident great spirit thing, Levias.
He gives him soup :)
ANYWAYS.
Imagine when he's up there on Skyloft, he meets little, little Sky. Maybe by a suggestion from Fi to go there even if she couldn't know what was there, or even just by plain chance.
He meets Sky. Or more importantly, Sky's dead parents.
Maybe he tried to save them but couldn't. Maybe they were dead from the moment he got there. Either way, they were dead and there was a little child there. So young there's a good chance he wouldn't even remember anything.
Still, a part of that little kid did.
It made him become a knight. He was probably going to do that if met Wars or not, or even if his parents were alive, but now it gave him a reason to be one, a purpose.
He had to be taken care of by everyone on Skyloft. Often swapped around from household to household, never able to grow close to any of them as he just went to however has the time to take care of him that day.
He started spending time at the training grounds, managing to convince them to let him learn how to use a sword, which is one of the reasons he's so good at it today.
He started at the school a bit earlier than his peers, mostly so he could live alone not just be thrown around everywhere. Though as he didn't have any of the prior teachings of the other classmates, he fell behind since they were talking about the complicated mechanisms of stuff he didn't know the basics of.
Still, he managed to hold on even if he has to repeat for a few years. So much that he was snow the same years are the other kids his age, even if he didn't start that much before them.
And he managed to hold on both because of his Loftwing he met not long before he started at the Academy, but also because the dreams of the knight in the blue scarf that protected him...
like genuinely so cool, i love your fics, your art is amazing and your posts are the highlight of my day <3
could i ask for something with four and legend together? maybe they both talk about their adventures and stuff, idk :)
i just don't see them paired very often, and im curious ig. (maybe it could even involve the palace of the four sword, if you want)
again, no pressure at all! have a nice day/night! ❤️
OH MY GOSH THANK YOUUUUU😭😭😭
ALSO- ABSOLUTELY I WILL DO IT.
Oh, and btw, you, Anon, are my best friend now. No arguing, and no take-backsies.
AO3- How Did You Know?
Link slashed, hitting the last of the four demons.
It (he?) collasped, fading to golden dust which settled on the floor. He sighed.
A golden light lit the back of the palace like a lantern.
The Palace of the Four Sword. Legend truly struggled to win against the four demons. He remembered the fight so well.
The Four Sword he was given.
His fellow hero's sword.
What were those shadows? Were they Four himself?
Did Four know?
Was that his future or past?
He sat, leaning against a cool, large boulder, trying to even his shaking, ragged breaths.
His thoughts wouldn't even from their raging spiral. What was happening?
Was Four cursed?
Did he kill another innocent person?
Or people, he supposed.
Yeah, he had to ask about the four people thing later.
"-gend? Legend? Link?" Legend tensed harshly.
Four.
Legend opened his mouth, trying to speak, but not a pitiful word could escape.
Four leaned down, kneeling in front of Legend. His lips were pressed in a thin line, and his eyes were creased with worry.
He rose his left hand to his face, wiping off leftover tears.
When did he start crying?
"What's-" Four's voice faltered. "What's wrong?"
Legend couldn't speak. His throat felt plugged.
He couldn't, not now.
Then again, he wasn't supposed to cry in front of others, or frankly at all, either.
Something was up with the veteran.
One second, Four was talking to Twilight, Wild, Time, and Legend about the Four Sword, the next, Legend had froze in place, and run off.
Now, he was crying.
This was absolutely not right.
'What can we do?' Red questioned.
'Nothing, Red. Not now. I... I don't know.' Green suggested, his voice breaking.
'Not all of us care, either!' Blue shot back.
'This is quite the predicament. He may have been triggered, given his displayed trauma response.' Vio explained.
'Triggered? By what?' Green queried.
'Oh no, did we do it?' Red exclaimed.
'What trauma? Maybe he wanted to leave!' Blue retorted.
'Blue. We all watched it. He didn't leave for no other reason than wating to.' Green said plainly. He was right, and they all knew it.
'Alright then, wonderous leader! What do we do?' Blue demanded.
'I said, I don't know!' Green shouted.
'Stop arguing!' Red begged.
The mind was filled with arguing and begging.
'Shut up!' Vio screamed.
Finally. Silence.
'We have to focus on Legend. We don't have time for this.'
Oh, right. Legend.
Four sighed. "That's alright. You don't need to speak yet. Or at all. But I'm here, if want to."
Four adjusted himself to sit.
Four's eyes were red.
He comforted Legend, while his eyes were red.
They were still red.
They did that sometimes, but not often.
So, why now?
Why red?
Why?
Legend swallowed harshly. He let out a shaky breath.
There was a red four.
Red was first.
Then he fought blue.
Purple was next.
Finally, green.
He'd always thought that Four's tunic was peculiar.
It had four colors.
A section for all four of the pieces.
The smith was four people, wasn't he? He was sealed with the Four Sword's dark magic, most likely.
Each one was a piece of him. His eyes must change color because different parts take control.
Red must be timid kindness, or something similar.
He sounded like Ravio.
"You are four people, aren't you?" Four stiffened beside him. "The Four Sword has dark magic. It seals you together."
The smith sighed. "Yeah, you're right. I have Red, Blue, Green, and Violet- or Vio. But how do you know?"
Legend bit his tongue, hesitating. "I'll tell you another time. We need to get back to camp. The others are probably worried." Four nodded, and stood.
He held out a hand, his eyes flashing green. His eyes were green most often.
Green was passion, and seemed to be the smith as well.
Legend grabbed Four's hand.
He didn't have to reach very far.
"To take out the most monsters, we should take out the biggest ones first."
As always, Warriors was leading battle plans. Legend hated to admit it, but he was probably right.
Across from the veteran, Four's eyes flickered to a smooth purple, like a field of violets.
"That's not a good idea." Warriors looked at Four, his eyebrpws raised. "If we do that, we risk smaller things attacking us mid-battle. If you're surrounded by other monsters while focused on something else, you're bound to not see attacks from them. You're bound to get injured. If you finish off the small guys first, the fight'll be easier, leaving you less vunurable to attacks outside your main fight. After, we can all focus on harder things without having to worry about other monsters. Plus, if someone is injured by a large monster, they aren't immediately swarmed by smaller scaled mobs."
Humms or agreement rose from the group. "Alright, then." The captain agreed. "Also, when did your voice get deep?" The captain asked.
Four just shrugged in response.
Vio must be intelligence and strategy.
Four's eyes blazed a bright blue.
The smith had been arguing with Wind forever.
Which was especially annoying because Legend, Four, and Wind were on patrol together, and he had to deal with them.
"That's not a good point! It's just plain rude!" Four shouted.
"I'm just saying, maybe if you tried a little more, you'd have less to complain about!" The sailor retorted. Four dug his fingers into his palms, his knuckles turning white.
"I do try! More than you! Even if I did try harder, I would still be able to complain anyway!"
Legend stepped inbetween the two. "Both of, stop it! This is not the time! Both of you are in the wrong, so accept it. We need to focus on what we're doing, or we're bound to be be attacked by monsters. Come on."
The youngest heroes both tensed. Wind spoke first. "But-"
"No 'buts'. Let's keep going."
Wind grumbled something under his breath.
Blue must've been anger, then.
Four leaned against a tree, reading peacefully. The colors would not shut up today, so it was good to be single-minded for a while, even temporarily.
He still wondered, though.
How did Legend know about Four's secret?
What had he seen?
As if it were prophesied, Legend strolled over towards the smith.
"It's a bit weird to read in the forest alone, don't'cha think?" Four chuckled, and shrugged.
"I like it. It's peaceful, being alone." The veteran nodded.
Should Four ask Legend what he knew? Or was it too early?
'Just ask him. We need to know.' Blue proposed harshly.
'It's too early! We don't want to rush him!" Red objected.
'It's best if we do it now. When else will we have time?' Vio reasoned.
'We can still ask, without being rude or pressuring him.' Green decided.
Four looked at Legend.
"Legend, I want you to answer me honestly."
The veteran tensed. Hesitantly, he nodded.
"How do you know about me and the Four Sword?"
Legend seemed to stifle a gasp, breathing in sharply, but exhaling as an attempt to seem calm.
'Vio, shut up!'
Legend bit his lower lip. Cautiously, he started to speak.
"I once went into a dungeon. It was the hardest one I'd ever seen. I was supposed to collect something- this sword. The place-" his voice faltered. "The place was called The Palace of the Four Sword." Four froze.
The Palace? Legend had been there?
"I fought four shadows. Red, blue, purple, and green. I recognized your sword, when you showed it off. I fought, and defeated, you. It's horrible. I know."
Four's eyes widened. His jaw loosed, falling slightly open like an old book.
That was the veteran?
The fighter?
The dungeon master?
His savior?
"Horrible?" He asked breathlessly. "Legend, you saved me. I was teleported there, split against my will, and coated with malice. You broke the curse, and I was free! You did what I couldn't."
The smith unconciously decided not to mention the pain, just to save time. The split wasn't normal.
It hurt.
A lot.
The malice... oh, he'd never forget. I burned his skin, like furious flames. It made his skin feel so raw, and broken, he may as well have been hit two-hundred times with a horse whip.
Legend looked shocked. Not quite impressed with himself, like he should've been, but shocked was a start.
'That phrase was redundant.'
'Shut up, Vio!'
The smith rubbed the back of his neck before continuing.
"I've always wanted to thank whoever did that. It really changed me, honestly. I should've been stuck for eternity and a day, but, thanks to you, I didn't."
He'd spent two years there, sure, but it was much less than there could've been.
Legend abruptly interjected into Four's speech. "It wasn't-"
"No. You're wrong."
The smith wasn't about to let him finish that thought. He looked up at Legend making eye contact.
Four's eyes, which were more than definitely flashing many colors at this point, blazed with passion, wisdom, fury, and compassion.
