Jordin Sparks’s voice crackles through the tinny phone speakers.
Tell me how I’m supposed to breathe with no air…
Cas glances up and, upon seeing the no doubt mischievous expression on Dean’s face, looks back down at his phone. He shakes his head a couple of times and Dean just laughs.
“You don’t think that’s funny, huh?” Dean asks him.
“Dean, you have never been funny in your entire life,” Cas teases, “why would that change now?”
“Rude,” Dean mutters, but he smiles anyway. He watches Cas scroll through his Instagram for a few seconds, taking in the shallow movements of his chest.
It’s how I feel whenever you ain’t there…
Cas drops his phone onto his thigh and, shaking his head again at Dean, stretches his arms above his head carefully. He says he’s not in pain anymore, which is good, but Dean can’t forget the panicked look on his face at the onset of his lung collapse.
