âCampus,â the sixth song on Vampire Weekend, was written by keyboardist Rostam Batmanglij before the band was ever formed. The version that appears on the album is very different from Batmanglijâs original version, presented here. Instead of an indie rock track with Afropop influence, âCampusâ appears here with no guitars or keyboards, and minimal drums, all replaced by a luscious string ensemble. Batmanglijâs vocal delivery is softer than Koenigâs, and the song takes a completely different attitude from the final version that appears on Vampire Weekend.Â
this track and an instrumental version of it are now available on bandcamp and half the proceeds are going to Palestine Legal, Chirla, Palestine Childrenâs Relief Fund, and Sudanese American Physicians Association
today at work i rung up a customer and the total was 12.30 and i said â12:30, reminds me of a clock :)â and they kind of smiled at me with confusion and i was like âlike the time on a clock, just reminds me of it⊠12:30â and they said âi have no idea what youâre talking aboutâŠâ with an expression of supreme pity and gentleness. after that was finished i turned to my coworker next to me and said âi just bombed so hard with this clock commentâ and then realized the customer hadnât moved and was still standing right next to me. if my fate continues down this path, the customer will probably read this tumblr post as well
