Something about this scene happening again in the finale of the show. The siblings say goodbye for the last time after the wedding of Aegon III and Jaehaera. Alicent is staying put because she will be on the regents team for the two kids, and Gwayne is going back to be Lord of Oldtown - a job he never, ever wanted or expected to have. They can barely look each other in the eye this time as they express their cordial farewells (while the first conversation was filled with so much affection and love). And then suddenly, Gwayne whispers how sorry he is for failing Daeron and being unable to save him.

I try my best not to judge, but the fact that folks keep insisting that you will never meet an Ormund in real life and that's why he's the better person for Gwayne is driving me absolutely batshit.
