do you think that Tenna has body dysmorphia? like, he used to be perfectly happy with his body but now he sees it as not good enough for others and that causes him to feel like his body is wrong? (um, sorry if this is a bad question or something)

no no no youre totally right. theres people i feel write this subject better than me(ecto-hazard(not @ ing bc im shy and im not sure how cool theyd be with it), for example, has lots of posts about it that're more specifically that- esp with like. a properly fat tenna), but like 100% i think he has some form of that. it's a little hard to explain how i see it- for me he specifically experiences it in comparison to like. His LightWorld form vs flatscreens. hes very defensive of himself i feel, probably calls flatscreens cheap and not real ect whatever he can to make himself feel better because. hes old tech thats heavy and way more dangerous than modern stuff with lower quality. he knows flatscreens are "better". he knows hes bound to die because of this. i think itd be hard not to feel ashamed of yourself.

I feel I draw Tenna not fat enough to really...justify? writing an extensive narrative of body dysmorphia. I base a lot of Tenna's issues with his Darkner body and his eating habits off of myself- I was underweight for most my life because of medications and PTSD and AFRID, the closest i got to that body shame feeling is "well the upside to all this is im skinny which people like" and the shame of like, having pudge that protects your organs lmao. my family used to bully me a bit for it so i was SUPER insecure and ashamed of it- drawing Tenna with that same shape and referring to it as a primordial pouch has made me feel so much better about it. And I'm no longer underweight now! Which means muffintops and being softer and healthier ect ect- i still wouldnt refer to myself as fat because. im just not. but my plans for tenna is a bit more pudge than i have LMAO. ive drawn it before(like here or here!), but i still think it like. doesnt count. like my friend Key @eyegengrauu has a beautiful fat Tenna who I adore very much. thematically Tenna being fat makes a LOT of sense! CRTs are fat! its great!

I would say the way I write Tenna for DFW is very similar to myself/how I used to think. I actually have this interaction in the chapter coming up that I wrote:

Tenna to me is the type to run himself ragged and avoid eating out of stress. Him putting on weight would be a for sure sign of getting healthier, but I think it'd fluctuate a lot, much like Tenna himself lol. He'd also see it as good for him to be underweight- he's a TV star. If he starts gaining weight, people will point it out and make fun of him. It's a lot of pressure to be under I feel like and something that actively discourages him from getting better.

Also, my friend Terry @dylterrance has a fic called Eat up, Darling that specifically focuses on Tenna having body dysmorphia and heavy disordered eating. It's done EXTREMELY well and realistically, and it's Mettatenna! I highly suggest it- it has a soft place in my heart. Give it a read if you like the subject!

Anyways! Not a bad question at all :) it's a subject that I like to discuss and I think fits Tenna's character well!

° He is older than Doof (to my knowledge from what i recall P&F lore is really timeline inconsistent). He has to be at LEAST 50 years old given that he is a CRT TV. He's likely closer to 70.

° He is canonically both divorced and also a child of divorce and has a buttfuck load of trauma from both events

° He has fangs.

° He is literally doomed by prophecy. Like the Deltarune version of the Bible straight up says he's supposed to fucking die lmfao.

° He does stupid little autistic ass dances (im autistic and he dances like me)

° He probably has BPD and his abandonment issues are so bad he nearly committed multiple homicide over them

° He canonically shrinks to roughly the size of a soccer ball when he is sad

° His divorced ex is Spamton G. Spamton, another Tumblr Sexyman. They used to be partners and they share leitmotifs. They also have a literal daughter.

° Tenna is the one canonically responsible for cracking the egg of Mettaton in the Deltarune universe.

° He can do a perfect 180 mid-air split.

° He has a pronounced lisp.

° He was so torn up about falling out with his partner that he tore down every poster of them together and keeps his dressing room sealed behind a wall.

° He grows a flower out of the tip of his nose when he's happy.

° He was originally supposed to look more like an Ant and had four arms

° He is CANONICALLY into petplay and begs IN-GAME to be walked on a leash like a dog.

I respect the HELL out of Doof, but nobody is doing it like Tenna fr.

like it's the whole thing that it's something that no one could've predicted. in no world could we have predicted the weird route would take such a turn, even with the previous chapters and the clear undertones the route works with. it's the fact that it's Real. it's the fact that within the headspace Undertale and Deltarune both ask of you, one where you consider this world and these characters to be real, living people who have existed before you started the game and could exist beyond the playtime once you close out after the final credits roll, you've just murdered two children. Except not even quite that. You've broken them, shattered them. Kris refuses to give you flavor text. They're not There, anymore. Noelle, little Noelle, who was offering you a pencil at the beginning, is snarling with her mother's fangs, because you've dug and pried so deep that what could've been confronted in a safe, healing way is now an open, fetid wound.

Deltarune's story is, among many things, about growing up.

You've robbed these children of the chance to grow up.

They cannot heal. They cannot come to terms with what has shaped their lives. They cannot make peace with their experiences and traumas. And not only that, but in doing this route, you leave two communities in mourning. Confused, terrified mourning.

And I don't think that Home Town will learn from this. They certainly didn't learn from whatever happened to Dess. No one will talk about Kris Dreemurr, the weird creepy prankster. No one will talk about Noelle, the blogger who loves scary game easter eggs. No one will talk about it. It will happen again.

and in the end, they're both just so scared. it's just so awful. you don't need to do this. but you Can.
