The private prison company CoreCivic has a long, storied history of human rights abuses, forced labor, violence, and inhumane treatment of inmates. The original federal facility in Leavenworth, Kansas was shut down in 2021 over hellish conditions.

Now, they're back in Leavenworth trying to open up an ICE detention center. They are flagrantly disregarding local laws and the voices of the Leavenworth community in their attempt at opening in effect, a concentration camp.

Do not let this corporation make money off the indiscriminate targeting of our neighbors. CoreCivic has an unparelleled, multi-million dollar incentive to lock up as many individuals as they can. If they build it, they will fill it.

The Carceral Accountability Council is an organization that has formed out of a grassroots movement to keep this facility closed, and we need your support to continue the work that we are doing. Anything helps, please help us stop this ICE detention center from opening up in the heartland of the US.

Here's the footage we currently have. I figure posting it myself will get me banned. At least four officers piling on top of a guy, disarming him, and then killing him in the street.

Reports are that they arrested witnesses and immediately brought them to the Whipple building. Everyone's talking about wanting to see the footage of the person in pink, which, let's face it, is probably gone. From what footage can be seen, it appears that the victim was carrying a handgun and had been disarmed by officers. Moments before shots break, you can see the officer with the grey coat over his armor pulling a handgun from the victim's belt line, then he moves towards the car in the foreground as the shooting starts. An image of the handgun was later posted online. This appears to be an execution-style killing. The officer seen beating the victim in the face with a can of OC spray is also seen firing into the victim's motionless body as he is flat on the ground.
