it’s my firm belief that fem!Percy Jackson’s name wouldn’t be Persephone, Percy/Persy for short. Yes I know it’s an easy name to come to, because there’s a built-in “Percy”, and it’s a mythological name that can work in the modern era.

But like. In universe. In-universe, the reason Perseus Jackson is named that, is because Sally Jackson wanted to name her son after a hero with a happy ending. And arguably Persephone didn’t have a happy ending, depending on how modern of an interpretation you take of her story etc etc.

Also, something I never see considered is that like… Persephone is an Actual God who presumably would find out at some point that Poseidon’s kid is named after her. Why on earth world Sally draw Persephone’s, and more specifically Hades’ attention to her daughter like that? Bad move. Nobody would like that.

Anyways. This is my argument for fem!Percy’s name to be Penelope, for the woman who held Ithaca by outwitting her suitors for twenty years and whose entire family survived her story. That’s pretty impressive for a Greek myth. And she can have the nickname Penny as a treat.

There are plenty of things that I disliked about how the Duffer's mishandled Will's arc, but it's hard to engage in online discussion about because I have never believed that byler was necessary for Will's sexuality arc. I do think the Duffer's very clumsily handled that storyline, and I don't think they should have given Will feelings for Mike if it wasn't going to go anywhere. I think that Will should have been set up with another love interest, but romance was always the cherry on top for Will's story, not the crux of it. I do like that they prioritized Will's self acceptance over how another boy feels about him. I don't think that byler not happening in itself was homophobic. I don't think that Mike not being confirmed as gay was homophobic. I don't think that Robin telling Will to center himself is homophobic. I don't think that Will referring to Mike as his Tammy is homophobic. I don't think that Will's coming out scene was homophobic. I do not think that Will going to a gay bar in the future is homophobic.

I do think that the Duffer's greatly underutilized Will in the last season after teasing it for so long. I'm upset that Will wasn't given a proper love interest. I'm upset that Will's queer pain was used to uplift Mike and El's relationship. I'm upset that the Duffers did not properly reprimand Mike for his behavior, and I don't like how the two (and some members of the cast) pat Mike on the back for doing the simple action of remaining friends with his gay friend. I think that all of these complaints can co-exist with the things that I like. It was possible for the Duffers can get some things right while overestimating their ability to tell queer stories and fumble other aspects. Appraisal for one aspect does not mean a complete sign off on the entirety.

rick riordan really went there with the original percy jackson series.. he wrote a story about a kid with adhd living in an abusive, low income household who realizes that the generation before him created a world that he and the rest of his generation could not possibly thrive in and then refused to acknowledge that the society they crafted was detrimental to their children,, percy must make the decision to demand change in the end;

meanwhile his antagonist is a blond haired blue eyed kid from one of the top 20 richest towns in the united states who should have had it all but was denied it, causing him to come to the same realization years before percy ever does, but he believes the answer to their problems is to look to the past, to the traditions and methods of the Good Old Days without recognizing that the corruption and depravity of that era will only continue the cycle if they are implemented in the present day – luke believes the world needs to return to its former glory whereas percy realizes that the system will always be corrupt if they don’t invest in an entirely new way to support the younger generation and basically what im saying is rick riordan has been stoking the revolution in us since middle school
