Thanks for the tag @orange-peony! I’m also working on my COBB. It’s … okay, I think it’s funny, but it’s also dark, and it’s super plotty in all the ways I struggle. Still, I’ve been having a fun time with it, even if I’m pretty sure it’s one of the hardest things I’ve ever written.

I furrow my brows and stare at Baz. His face has gone as blank as a fresh notebook. Or like a computer trying to restart, throbber spinning, every single processor engaged in trying to solve an impossible equation.

“Well, that could count as our honeymoon,” I suggest. “Couples that kill together … stay together?”

Waitttt wait wait wait. Okay obviously I am on the train of ‘Baz’s leg is still injured and that magical healing never happened’ however.

The implication that Simon’s magic has that affect on Baz’s body, when he only has some of it and it’s temporary, also has implications for Simon’s body once he loses all of that magic.

He’s been fighting for years and his magic has been holding his body together with scotch tape and a prayer, so when he loses his magic all of the consequences of years of fighting and pushing his body hit all at once. Simon is Like That after the first book in part because he’s having a catastrophic level flare up and his body will never be the same in more ways than he thought, actually.
