'yes it does make more sense for gai's leg to be amputated if it is still in a fucking SOLID CAST over a decade after his injury because ohhhhhh my god that is NOT in any way sanitary' vs 'I am only pro-gai-leg amputation if people do not presume that 'amputation' = 'somehow nixing disability'' vs 'gai could have a KICKASS prosthetic leg designed by tenten with all sorts of cool tricks built into it and that's super fun!' vs 'prostheses are not a magic 'cure all' for limb loss. Limb sparing measures are taken wherever possible instead of amputation for very real reasons' vs 'Gai's active lifestyle and mobility clearly means A LOT to him and that is the sort of thing that should be taken into account in order to let him enjoy his life as much as possible!' vs 'Gai still clearly found joy and love in life as a wheelchair user!' vs 'Gai is still a disabled man regardless of if he uses a wheelchair as his primary mobility aid. A prosthetic limb has SIGNIFICANT difficulties and pain attached, and many folks with limb differences STILL use a wheelchair regularly or as their primary means of mobilisation. Prostheses and wheelchairs are tools that allow disabled people to mobilise. Someone with a limb difference may use different tools according to their varying needs day by day' vs 'some fans seem to slap a prosthetic leg on Gai because they don't want to deal with him being a wheelchair user and that's Bad, Actually' vs etc. etc. etc.

#it's so real #i am obviously biased but i will always be pro wheelchair user gai even when i write him as an amputee #there are good other option and some writers and artists are great at it tho #but also side side eye to ppl to try to make him less disabled in the process come on #what's the point of being into retired gay veterans if you're going to make them abled bodied #let us eat #maito gai

ahh!!!! i’m so flattered… i’ve only drawn him once so it was quite a challenge. it’s a sketch that turned into something more elaborated but i’m hella busy right now so this is all i’ve got.., i hope i did him enough justice!!

in my head gai is the supreme public affection master and kakashi just lets him be even though he is dying inside from first hand embarrassment (he’s the most content he’s ever been tho)
