This is my story.
What baseline proper public health guidance for covid and other airborne illnesses should look like: "Some people are at higher risk, and you can spread this illness to them unknowingly. Public health is a collective responsibility. Wear a tight-fitting mask in public spaces to reduce rates of transmission, and stay home when sick to keep others safe and healthy."
What public health guidance for covid and other airborne illness actually looks like: "Don't be scared! Don't do anything! Go on vacation and spend lots of money! Cough on your grandma! Who are we supposed to be, health authorities or something? Who are we to dictate public hygiene? Live your life! You only get one! Maybe get a vaccine, but also it's a personal choice!"
Imagine they made Space Jam 2, but they were like, "parents hate hearing cartoon voices, so we're replacing all the voices of these characters," so Porky Pig was voice acted by Generic Male Actor #1, and Tweety Bird was voice acted by Generic Male Actor #2, and Elmer Fudd was voice acted by Generic Male Actor #3, etc etc. That's what these Mario movies are like to me. "We can't have this child cartoon character be played by a woman doing a Cartoon Child Voice, so let's make him sound like some random grown ass man instead." And I see and hear that during the game awards and cringe and think, "Okay, well that sucks, but these movies aren't for me anyways. They're for normie parents and children who are too young to care about what the characters sound like. So I'll just keep trying to ignore these movies." But the reality is is that I'm an adult Mario fan who follows adult Mario fans online and is friends with adult Mario fans. So I open Youtube and it's like, "here's what this Twitch streamer thinks of the newest Mario movie," and I gotta just keep scrolling. And then my friend is like, "Dude did you hear Yoshi's voice in the newest Mario movie? It sounds awful." I'm not clicking that link man. I already know they made Yoshi sound like Generic Male Actor #4, I don't need to hear it.
Things that society considers autism an excuse for
Nazi salutes
sexual assault
Things that society considers autism not an excuse for and things that people think children who do should be met with violence
using the wrong tone
showing too much or too little emotion
asking questions and having an authority figure take it as "arguing"
I love being covid conscious and everyone around me tolerating my respie wearing habits but not doing anything to really mitigate the spread of viruses
We live in different worldviews, but the same world. Covid still affects both of us, I’m just the one who isn’t in denial.
I get angry sometimes, but I keep it to myself. Who else would I have if I cut them out? I’d have no one.
Even talking to them about how covid works as a virus is like talking to a wall. They just don’t want to think about it at all.
So here we are, living in 2 different worldviews, loving each other anyway. It’s complicated and I try to make the best of it.
note: respirators aren’t the only way to mitigate viruses, they’re just a good way. if you don’t feel safe wearing one, you can still encourage your community to use air purifiers and get their vaccine boosters. and if it’s an anti vax community, air purifiers will be the easiest way to make some kind of progress. anything better is better.
“It just means you have to work double as hard as most people!”
Well maybe I don’t WANT to work double as hard as abled people!! Maybe I deserve a BREAK!! Maybe I’ve been working MORE THAN double as hard for MY WHOLE LIFE and it’s led me to immense burnout & caused me to develop several MORE disabilities!! Maybe I should be ACCOMMODATED so I don’t have to KILL MY BODY AND BRAIN over trying to do what abled people can do!! Maybe I DON’T have to work double as hard!! Maybe if there’s the option to let me NOT work double as hard, I should have it, because I’m already working double as hard JUST TO SURVIVE!!
Why do you think disabled people deserve less rest than mentally & physically abled people?
This is literally what people are talking about when they say AI will be used to mainstream widely held bigotry. LLMs are trained on frequency and probability -> straight relationships are more well represented in the dataset -> straight pronouns and terms become the "correct" normal.
This is a form of backdoor bigotry from both normative facts (there are more straight than gay relationships) and well represented bigoted beliefs (men are superior to women).
Combine this with the mass of people inclined to believe (and being encouraged to believe) that if AI says and does something it must be correct
Hey, you, cis girl that's very (correctly) vocal about women being allowed to talk about their periods, do you include trans women in that?
I ask because every single time I've tried to talk about it to anyone that isn't a trans woman they get fucking angry. Which has caused me to have to just suffer in silence every single month. So I really relate to cis women when they talk about literally the exact same thing; being shamed by everyone around them their whole lives for talking about their periods, so they just suffer in silence every month as it negatively impacts their work and social lives. But I don't even feel like I can voice that I am literally dealing with the same exact thing because most of y'all react like you want to throw me in front of a bus for saying it, even those of you who act like your such big great transfem allies.
drug addicts deserve housing, food, water, and healthcare btw
No bond stronger than a disabled girl and her disabled cat
(images depict a comic. All of the text is in all caps. the panels are as follows:
Panel one: "hard to love" simple drawing of a cat curled up on a cane "disability and cats"
Panel two: "sometimes, i think i'm hard to love" drawing of a person with shortish hair sitting on the ground facing away from the viewer "my body doesn't work like it's supposed to"
Panel three: drawing of the same person hunched over what looks like maybe a calendar with their head in their hand and question marks over their head "I forget things" "I move slow" drawing of the same person walking with a bag and a cane. Drawing of the same person hunched over to grab something off the floor with their hand on their back and lines indicating pain coming off of them "it hurts to do things most people do easily"
Panel four: "my cat's body also doesn't work like it's supposed to" drawing of a cat with part of one ear missing sitting up and looking at the viewer
Panel five: "he doesn't remember things" Drawing of the same cat looking at the ground with question marks over his head indicating confusion with what looks like a food bowl in the background. I think this is meant to be the cat having trouble finding the food bowl. Drawing of the same cat falling gracelessly on his face. "he's clumsy" "he can't do things that other cats can do" drawing of the same cat stretching up towards what looks like a counter. I think this is meant to be the cat having trouble getting up on to the counter.
Panel six: "and i love him so much" drawing of the person holding the cat up, touching their faces together. there is a heart symbol above their heads likely indicating fondness, affection, or love
Panel seven: "so maybe" drawing of the person with the cat in their lap, petting him, facing the viewer this time "it's not too hard to love me"
end of description, that is all of the panels)
you need to mask i’m so fucking tired just say you don’t think disabled people deserve to exist in public spaces and value yourself over your community

This Pride Month, I am begging queer orgs to branch out from hosting events at bars and breweries. Some of us are sober, neurodivergent, and COVID conscious and it makes it so goddamn hard to find community when everything revolves around consuming alcohol in crowded indoor spaces.
A zine by me.
KN95 (or higher) rated, well-fitted respirator masks are revolutionary.
+ Anti-ICE/anti fascist? Wear a mask. The unmitigated spread of disease is killing and disabling people being violently and wrongfully detained by ICE. Every break in the chain of transmission of illness saves lives.

Look. Let me be so fucking for real rn ( ^◡^)
Unfollow me.
Un-FUCKING-follow me if you read any of this goddamn post and think to yourself that I'm overreacting. Do it. Fucking just do it.
And, to my covid conscious moots: I love you, hope you're doing well, virtual hugs, and I hope something good happens to you today or this week or something.
Because my disabled, biracial, POC, genderqueer, queer, poor, unemployed, ass cannot fucking even right fucking now.
I'm angry. I'm pissed. I'm so fucking lonely and exhausted.
So do it. Gtf outta here if you're gonna willfully dig your head in the sand.
Covid is still a thing. Airborne disease is still a fucking thing despite the "back to normal" bullshit ass agenda that's been getting pushed from the MOMENT covid got declared a pandemic.
Like, fucking wearing a damn mask is not that fucking hard, you motherfuckers.
Wearing goddamn n95 when you go out is not fucking infringing on your shitty ass fuckwitted fucking freedom.
I have gone fucking nowhere and met fucking NOBODY in the last 4½ fucking years since everybody threw their hands up and went "I'm tired of this, pandemic over, teehee!"
Okay I'VE LOST MY FRIENDS because they didn't want to mask anymore.
Friends I've known for over a fucking decade. I'm twenty-fucking-four. People I've known for at LEAST half my shitty fucking life.
Just. Left. Up and never spoke to me again because I wore a mask.
Like.
Giving a single half assed fuck about any of the damn people around you, and your own fucking self, is basic fucking decency, but like common sense, I guess the fucking name is misleading, innit?
Investing in healthcare, instead of capitalism and warfare, is apparently too fucking scary for the bitch ass cucks at the top— they weren't making enough goddamn money and had less control over the average fucking person, so they bitched and moaned their way to downplaying one of the worst viruses (COVID you fuckers) yet! Did you know it's right up there with AIDs and TB? Did you know, it ages your T-cells, that's important to your immune system, BTW. You don't get that back. It, COVID-19, SARS-CoV-2, effects your entire goddamn fucking body.
Your entire body.
Do you happen to know someone who died from covid? Do you know someone who lost someone in the last 7 years to covid? I bet you fucking do. I sure as fuck do.
Did you know it fucks with your head? Permanently. People talk about extreme personality shifts, about how someone they know, who talked about having covid and how bad it was, would, in just a few weeks, have no recollection of ever being sick.
But it's fine. It's mild.
It doesn't matter if it kill you or your neighbor or your kid, it's just a cold.
So much of that steaming pile of bullshit stems from billionaires not wanting to lose their fucking money.
No matter if the poors die. At least Delta Airlines has passengers onboard, that's what matters, after all.
Like, for fucks sake, you cunt ass cowardly fucking jackoff parasites for brains ass motherfuckers.
Are you fucking kidding me.
But no, sure millions disabled and dead and the number growing by the day and it's "just a cold," you stupid ass fucks.
Gotta rush and make sure everything goes "back to normal," can't be beleaguered by the horrific ordeal wearing a fucking mask to run my errands. Can't do anything to filter the air. No no no!
If you're disabled, if you're immunocompromised, if you're scared of the big bad virus, why don't you just lock your doors and windows and never leave your house again?
I have literally been asked that to my face for wearing a fucking n95 to costco.
You just want everything to be peachy fucking keen, you fucking cunts.
No no no, it's only airborne. So if I stand six feet from you nobody gets sick. That's totally how fluid dynamics work, don't you fucking know.
Fuckers.
oh my goddddd you wanna know why reading comprehension is down? BRAINFOG FROM LONG COVID! but admitting this would be admitting the issue of ableism and eugenics & how most of the world put capitalism and profit before human life.
