Edgar loves the city, and the sound of culture swirling through the atmosphere. He loves the grime – it adds character!  he speaks with the street vendors and will happily sit in the parks listening to the buskers. New York is his home, and he does not plan on relocating anytime soon, especially with the family business to look after.

The bookstore / record store has been in the family for generations. It is filled with classic books and records he and his grandfather have collected over time. Every now and then, they have open mic nights, where Edgar encourages all his friends to come along and play something.

His dad, however, dad no interest in running the store. When Edgar’s grandfather got sick his dad, Emilio wanted to sell the store. However, Edgar insisted that with his help the family would be able to run the store together. Edgar can now be found managing the store in all but on paper. It was his favourite place growing up, and the man has even moved into a tiny apartment above the shop.

Growing up, Edgar was one of those kids who had potential. He was smart enough to do well in classes without studying, so he just… didn’t study. His parents kept pushing him to try harder, to think about what he could be if he just applied himself a little more, but honestly Edgar didn’t have the enthusiasm for his academics. He would rather sit in the band room geeking out over anything from Debussy to Billie Holliday to Weezer. This lead to him disappointing his parents even further when he dropped out of University and took over his Grandfather’s store.

From then on, his relationship with his parents has been extremely rocky. While his father inherited the store from Edgar’s grandfather, he has no desire to run it. That left Edgar, desperate to keep his grandfather’s dream going, running the store all on his own. The only time he really speaks to his father, is for holidays or business. Being such a secretive person to begin with, this rift with his father didn’t help. His parents were barely aware of Ed’s ex-relationships, or interests beyond the store. The only member of his immediate family that Edgar still kept  in contact with is his sister, and more recently, his mother.

Music people are his people. While Ed is quite private a private person, nothing makes him open up more than music. He loves collaborating with different artists while getting stoned after the shop closes for the day.

While most pay him no mind, and he flies under the radar, once you get to know him, Edgar can be incredibly warm. He’s the type to invite everyone over for dinner and cook a huge meal (more like order it), or take his best friends hiking up north when he has the time. It just takes a little effort, and a little banter, and he’s a friend for life.

For those he is close to, he’s kind of guy you call on if you are in a jam. He’ll come help out whenever there’s an issue and usually won’t ask any questions about it. However, he tends to be very private when he is going through his own issues. 

Once had a big, deep, love. His best friend, his heart, they thought they were so in love that nothing could break them… to the point they stopped trying. Edgar, without realising, had closed himself off once again when his grandfather got sick. While his boyfriend wanted the world, Edgar was honestly happy to stay in the Bronx, build his grandfather’s store up and play music. As hard as they tried to open Edgar back up, to speak with them about the pain he was experiencing, he just wasn’t ready. Despite them giving Edgar so many signs that they were unhappy, Edgar was still shocked when they left him.

Nowadays, Ed’s life has kinda plateaued. He has the shop, and it’s doing fine. He has several people to keep his bed warm at night, nothing too deep. He has his friends, who he is always happy to help. His smoking is getting a bit too frequent, but nothing he can’t handle. Everything is fine, and he should be happy. However each morning it’s getting harder and harder to get himself out of bed.

RECENTLY (updated): After getting back together with the ex-boyfriend, and breaking up once more once he realised he was in love with two people at the same time (yikes) Edgar has been focusing on being single, and getting himself out of his rut. He’s currently working on opening up the store to more open mic nights, and even small gigs with bigger artists - it’s a work in progress with big, big dreams.

His position between Celeste’s legs was beginning to be one of his favourites. he loved knowing that it just him eliciting those sounds from her mouth, it was him that sparked her very prominent arousal between them. The power he felt from that only served to add to his own, the pressure building in his jeans below. With the wig thrown off, and Orion’s hand tilting Edgar’s head up to meet his eyes, Edgar grinned at his friend. The hand gripping Orion’s thigh let go, reaching up as far as possible, thumb barely brushing against his friend’s jaw, wiping some of the smudged lipstick. “Hey you,” Edgar paused the fire to greet Orion, with a soft, easy warm smile. Different from the intensity of before. It only lasted seconds however, as his lips made contact with his hips, pressing kisses to his hipbones, following the line of the lace on the way down. Hungry hands slid back up Orion’s thighs til they finally reached the only article of clothing remaining between them. palming him momentarily, if just to tease Orion a little more, Edgar finally tugged down the tiny piece of fabric. “Shit, O,” Edgar rasped, gazing down at him, hard and wanting as a hand stroked him before finally, Edgar took him in his mouth.

The new dynamic of their relationship was a welcome surprise in Edgar’s life. Surprising, but welcome. and fun. and intoxicating. Celeste’s confidence was intoxicating. His breath hitched as she laid bare on the table, waiting for him to take her, to do whatever he wanted with her. It was a different beast to the slow warmth he had with Orion. This was a flame ignited, more passionate than anything. The steady ease Ed usually had rapidly deteriorating to something much more desperate. Something that started the moment celeste walked into the store. “shit,” a hand gripped her thigh, wrapping it further around his hips, pressing himself into Celeste, “do you know how sexy you are right now?” he groaned into her skin, teeth grazing against the edge of the lacy fabric, tugging it down to expose more of Celeste’s chest, “how bad I want you?”. His tongue flicked the now exposed nipple on his descent, free hand coming round to unhook the bralette. The trail of fiery kisses only paused as he hastily slipped the bra off her body, before continuing down her stomach, settling himself between her legs.

Spring had always been Sloane’s favorite time of year. The transition from cold and dreary to bright and beautiful always happened to lift her spirits, which was something she especially needed now. She had hoped spending the afternoon outside in Bryant Park would help spark her creativity for her latest freelance assignment, however, her plan seemed to have been failing.

She sat at a table by herself, increasingly growing frustrated with how wrong all of her sketches were turning out to be.  “Ugh!” she grumbled as she ripped a page out of her sketch book and tossed it completely without looking.

Sloane’s outburst surprised Edgar, leaving him wincing as he watched her toss a piece of paper to the ground. The park, for him, was a place of calm. Where he did his best thinking. For others, it seemed, not so much. Picking it up, he stepped over to her with a kind, but tentative smile, “thought you might want this,” he mused, placing the paper and himself in front of her, taking a seat, “you good? You don’t have to take it out on the paper.” Edgar joked, unfurling the piece rolled up and having a look, nodding his head appreciatively, “y’know, it’s actually pretty good.”

          𝐓𝐎 𝐖𝐀𝐓𝐂𝐇 𝐄𝐃𝐆𝐀𝐑'𝐒 𝐑𝐄𝐀𝐂𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍 to her little birthday surprise brought an immediate grin to the artist’s features as she couldn’t help herself but immediately hug him once she had carefully placed the coffees and box on top of the store’s counter. It was really no secret to anyone who knew Aubrey that visiting her usual coffee shop and little corner bakery in the West Village had practically been a part of her daily ritual ever since she had first moved into her little shoebox apartment almost ten years ago. And so, to buy just a few little more things extra to commemorate the very special occasion had practically been a no-brainer. Especially when thirty seemed like such a milestone. 

          “What are you talking about? It’s your birthday,”  she exclaimed, perhaps a little more loud and a little more enthusiastic than she had intended.  “It’s the absolute least I could do.”  She was literally about to spend most of her day in his very presence, after all. It really seemed only cruel not to acknowledge it. Even if she was already doing so much for him with this mural.  “Besides… These cupcakes really aren’t gonna eat themselves. And I made sure to get you your oat milk latte fix especially.”

Hugging her back tightly, Edgar knew he’d have to thank Aubrey in more than just a hug and his company. He made a note to do something equally as special for her own birthday, they were turning thirty after all. When he finally pulled away, Ed leant against the counter, still grinning at his friend, forever grateful for the people in his life. Especially ones that knew his coffee order. “Yeah, but we’ve already got this,” he gestured behind him, the mural in progress, “goin’ on. It’s worth at least a thousand coffees... but,” Edgar grabbed his coffee cup, holding it up to her, “thank you, I appreciate it.”

At the promise of cupcakes, Ed’s interest piqued. Even his most polite self couldn’t say no to the promise of cake, already peaking into the pink box in curiosity. “I guess I can eat some cupcakes” he sighed dramatically, handing her over the box to take the first choice, “so what are your birthday plans? Gonna throw a rager, or you stayin’ in with Finley?”

Val stayed comfortably laid out, letting Ed take the joint as he listened curiously. “I mean, some people think foot stuff is kinky, ya weirdo.” He laughed, turning a little bit towards Ed’s voice, waggling his eyebrows. “Less than wholesome… y’ere being very illusive. It was a good birthday, though? Y’had fun? People treated ya like the king y’are? I’m gonna get you some killer weed. I’m always late to get birthday gifts but I’m gonna find the most expensive, dankest weed for you.” He promised. “Oh! Seriously? That’s fuckin’ cool! You’ve been workin’ hard on the shop. I’m proud a you, buddy.”

“s’not illusive it’s... I dunno, being respectful?” It wasn’t something he made a habit of, talking about his extracurricular activities with friends, especially when it was something new and undefined, “but yeah, yeah, and then some. I had a lot of fun. A... friend did a show for me, got about five different cakes baked for me too, so if you want any, let me know.”  He puffed on the joint, watching the leaves flutter on the trees above them as he slowly exhaled. “the dankest?” Ed chuckled, “nah, don’t worry about it, you don’t have to do that man. But if you really wanna, I promise to share,” he patted Val’s arm, passing his friend the joint, “thanks man, wanna tell my dad for me? But nah, the new gigs are goin’ well, and I’m passionate about it, you know? I think I can do it.”

The sneak peak of Orion, in Celeste’s ‘gross’ had Edgar tilting his head back, laughing quietly. It was always a welcome surprise to remember underneath all that make up, and cool confidence, was his friend, who he really did care for. “It’s cool,” he pulled back, meeting her eyes, trying to reassure her with a kind smile before she became more flustered, “Orion doesn’t have to say anything.” He didn’t try to over complicate it, or fixate on defining whatever was happening between them, Ed just knew whatever it was, it was a good thing. And it was fun. Hungry eyes watched as the fabric pooled to the ground, revealing the pale skin and lacy bra Edgar had glimpse during Celeste’s performance. “Shit,” came his breathless response as he took in her body, a curious hand running across her chest, down her stomach appreciatively, revelling in the feel of soft skin underneath his fingers. Edgar let his shirt be tugged over his head, before pressing his naked chest against hers. Steadily, Ed guided her back until she hit the table, giving her something to lean on before his head ducked down to suck and nip softly along her neck and collarbones. It was as he dipped lower, lips down brushing along her chest, almost to the lace, that Edgar met Celeste’s eyes, “I’ll do whatever you want me to do.”

it wasn’t until violet stepped inside that she realised how long it had been since she had been here. in many ways, this had been another home to her for so, so many years. how many times had they danced in his little kitchen? bumping into draws and knocking bowls of benches? or curling up on the floor underneath a blanket fort because that was what mature adults did? it felt like a lifetime since they had done any of those things.

she put her bag down, hand immediately going to adjusting her overalls. maybe she could have dressed up a little more? “water would be perfect.” it was beautiful really, seeing him in his own space again. it was small, but the small things meant even more these days. “thank you well, letting me come over.” now, she was well aware she should have said happy birthday by now and it really shouldn’t be so hard but it was. once again, it was a small thing but she wanted that to be perfect too.

Violet in his home, Edgar in his home with Violet. It was surreal. A moment transported back in time, like most of their good moments were nowadays. Like it didn’t make sense in the reality they were living in now. Everywhere he looked, had a memory of her attached to it. Edgar had worked hard on not associating the spaces in his home with her anymore, yet here she was, bringing them all back.

“You look nice,” he commented lamely, noticing the way she fidgeted with her overalls, wanting to ease her nerves. Pulling out a jug of cold water, he poured a glass for the both of them, handing Violet hers before leaning against the counter. At her thanks, his face scrunched up into a curious smile, “why’re you thanking me? I wanted you here,” he reminded her, stating the truth simply.

She loved the time they took- fingers brushing the ribbon of fabric at her hip and lips soft against her own. She slid closer and her arms wrapped around his neck. It was easier to play with his curls, to let her hand slide down his spine. But she laughed against his mouth, grinning. “I’ve definitely said weirder.” She agreed, but made no move to pull away or slide back. Ed was already tall- and if Celeste hadn’t been a giant, and in heels, she wouldn’t have had to duck so much.

“A few days?” Her voice was a bit more breathy as she teased at his lower lip between her teeth, kissing him slow and taking her time. The idea of being cozied up to Ed for days at a time had her chest pounding. She slid her hand into his, brought it up to her cheek. Kissed the palm. “The makeup might have to come off after a day… you might be left with Orion, eventually.” She joked. She gazed at him through long eyelashes, unable to stop smiling, and let the hand she’d brought up drift back down to her waist. “Now… do you want to open your gifts, or would you prefer to wait?” She murmured, letting her mouth dip down to kiss and nip at his earlobe and jaw.

“Yeah, a few,” Edgar confirmed with a nod, mostly joking, but also not opposed to the idea of the two of them not coming up for air for days at a time. Especially with Celeste slowly teasing him, the soft graze of her teeth against his bottom lip pulling him in deeper and deeper. He could do this for days on end, easily. “I dunno if you know this, but I kinda like Orion, too, we go way back. Might have a crush on him,” he teased, free hand still playing with the sash as he watched Celeste kiss the palm of his other. It was an action so soft, so… tender, Ed almost didn’t know what to do with it. He was unaccustomed to such freely given affection. Like he was waiting for the other shoe to drop, the reality to sink in just as it always did. Edgar shoved those tiny insecurities to the side, focusing Celeste nipping at his jaw, while his fingers dug into her hips encouragingly, pulling her closer. “Ah,” Ed’s other hand found the back of her neck, curling into her hair as his breathing grew heavier, “they can wait. Gotta thank you, first.” Watching her perform for him sparked something inside Ed, similar to his confidence after the gig that night. The hand in her hair pulled her back up to him, lips crashing on Celeste’s as deft fingers worked on tugging open the sash.

Celeste followed along respectfully, hand in Ed’s as they walked and he pointed out where everything was. It was a perfectly respectable New York City apartment- she knew how expensive things were, and this was honestly very similar to what Celeste had thought Ed might have- small, cozy. A little bit rustic- there were little items against the wall and books stacked. Of course, a record player and a guitar. The little fridge and the windows looked out on other buildings and a little bit of that nice blue sky.

She looked over, realizing the other was actually nervous. “It’s so cozy. I love it- it looks and… feels just like you.” She pointed out, moving closer to Ed. Dropping the bag to the side, on the floor for later, though she did it carefully. “It smells like you, too- I dunno if that sounds weird… but there’s a nice smoky, earthiness to it.” She ducked her head a bit to look him in the eye, brushing fingers over his chin and his jaw. “You shouldn’t have let me see all this. I might not want to leave.” She teased, before closing the distance between them in another soft kiss.

Whatever nerves Edgar had about showing his apartment to Celeste steadily eased away as she reassured him. How did she manage to read into his insecurities and say the right thing so easily? “Yeah?” He asked, stepping closer to her, one hand still wound around hers, “I guess I thought maybe it wasn’t really Celeste’s style? Maybe she’d want something fancier... nothing but the best, you know,” he said all this as curious fingers trailed along the velvet fabric of the green dress, brushing over the sash. “ A little weird, but that’s okay... you’ve said weirder” He grinned, raising a teasing eyebrow up at his friend, remembering the bizarre conversations they’d have in the woods. 

There was part of him that quickly wanted to be carried away, undo the sash, and thank her for the performance right then and there. But another part wanted to savour it, spend quality time with her before they started taking off each other’s clothes. Figuring out which one he wanted more was an even harder task, with Celeste pressed right up against him, kissing him like that. “What if I don’t want you to leave?” Edgar asked, “’m not totally opposed to being holed up here for a few days.”

James was able to catch onto the slight hesitation for a moment coming from Edgar, a little bit of nerves settling into his stomach. Maybe this was something he didn’t want to do after all? Though as Ed grinned, it eased James some, unable to stop from laughing as his friend seemed to ramble a bit. “Whatever songs you wanna do, Ed.” James said with a nod of his head, curling a leg under himself. “I just play the drums.” He grinned, leaving most of the decisions of what the band did to Edgar. Trusting him to make the right choices. Like he had said, he was simply the drummer and would go along with just about whatever. However, he gave a light shrug of his shoulders. “I mean- Cece and them were already like a part of our family. Just makes it official I guess. I just sort of-” He paused, brow furrowing. “Have to get used to sharing mom, if that makes sense?” Speaking for the first time out loud about that to anyone. “I’m so used to it being just me and her. Now there’s this-” He trailed off, not quite for sure how to explain what he was thinking. “It’s all fine though.” James added instead. “But how are things with you?” 

“I gotta make a list,” Edgar jumped up again, running to the fridge where the mini whiteboard sat, and grabbing it to start scribbling down ideas underneath his tallies. “Hey, you don’t just play the drums, you’re part of this too. We could do the one about hookin’ up with a sasquatch? That went down well at the Valentine’s gig,” he scribbled down the song title, along with a few others. Whatever doubt he had evaporated the moment he started thinking about the music, how good they both were. They were ready for this. Pausing in his list, Ed glanced up at James, listening to him speak. “I get that. Like... reality shifted and suddenly you have a sister?” Edgar guessed, “ happened on Buffy once, too.” He paused, considering the question with a happy shrug, “I think this is the best they’ve been in a while.”

There was something intoxicating about how easy it was to fall back into Ed, to slide fingers through his and feel their bodies so close. There, of course, had been some trepidation on showing up in full drag to a record shop on Ed’s behalf. The man might’ve been terrified of a customer walking in, or uncomfortable. Maybe Celeste was fun to look at after a few drinks at a singles’ mixer, but in daylight… she wasn’t sure how he would feel. To have Ed gaze at her like that and want her, sober and at some unimportant time in the afternoon… she was unable to stop smiling. And the electricity she felt as she leaned into him was exhilarating. But she pulled away reluctantly, biting her bottom lip as she followed him up the stairs, very close.

“I had to. Couldn’t show up to perform a whole number to your employee.” She pointed out with a small grin, tugging the bag around her shoulder. She had a feeling they wouldn’t get to the gifts until later, which was perfectly fine. Her fingers were tangled into his, walking in her heels up the stairs. It occurred to her that this was the first time that she was getting to see his place, and she wondered if it had that same energy that he did. The kind and soft, down to earth energy that he provided. If it smelled of incense, or probably weed. She wondered if she should’ve gotten him a tapestry, and she hadn’t even seen the place yet. “Am I getting a tour?” She asked, but her voice was a bit huskier, rough around the edges as she watched the other, coming up to the top of the stairs.

“Dunno, it was a pretty good performance... I can call him back in? Encore?” Edgar teased, pretending to call out to his friend, but dropping the act the moment they reached the creaky stairs. “Uh, kinda, there’s not much to show, to be honest,” he answered, leading her up, each creak of the steps adding to his shyness about the state of his apartment. It wasn’t that it was messy by any means, just old and small. Modest. a place he didn’t make a habit of bringing people to if he could help it. 

Pushing open the door, Ed took a deep breath as he led Celeste inside the tiny kitchen. The place was modest, with a small table and chairs in the kitchen, a couch for reading pressed up against the wall, a few plants scattered around. “This is... basically my kitchen, dining room and living room in one. Told you it was small, sorry,” he pointed to the door on the left, “bathroom,” the door on the right, “bedroom,” Edgar tugged Celeste forward, so she could further take in the humble space. Along the floor of his bedroom were stacks of books pressed against the wall, beside with his record player and guitar. The most important things in his life. “It’s not much but you know... I like it,” he ran a nervous hand through his hair, glancing at Celeste for her reaction. It felt rustic compared to her glamour.

Celeste was usually pleasantly out of breath after a performance, and today’s was no exception. Her soft hair was tousled and she got her bearings as she came down from that high of performing, of turning and twisting, throwing her head back to the soulful music that had the perfect amount of sensuality, of teasing, that she needed for Ed’s birthday. But oh, she was delighted to see him smiling like that. All for her… and it wasn’t hard to tell he had enjoyed the gift. The kiss had her reeling and she bent down to return it, arms wrapping around his neck, resting on his shoulders as she just relished in his mouth on hers for a moment longer. 

“So you liked it?” She teased, brushing fingers through his curls. Something she loved to do- something she knew he liked. Celeste stayed pressed to him, leaning in to kiss him one more time- it was more chaste, soft, slow. “I called ahead so we wouldn’t be disturbed.” She murmured, a glint of mischief in her eyes. “And I have other gifts for you. Tangible ones. But I thought I’d come in a nice dress… do a little performance for you. Since you haven’t gotten to fully see what I can do…” She took her time, sliding back only to grab the bag of items she’d brought for him, before coming back over, a hand out easily for him. “I think your employee can handle it if you take some time away from the shop.” She murmured, voice low, almost a purr as she got back close to him, until they were flush together. “But… you tell me what you want to do. It is your birthday, after all.”

In simplicity, Edgar found happiness. The uncomplicated dynamic with his friend, where he simply felt happy and appreciated without any expectations, and could give the same in return, was exactly what was helping everything feel so good. “I did,” Edgar nodded happily, melting under her touch, “it was better than anything I ever expected.”  He kissed Celeste back, slowly, indulgently, taking the time to savour each moment. They had the whole night for whatever else she had planned, but Edgar wanted to enjoy every last bit. 

Glancing around the store, Ed noticed the distinct lack of his employee, who probably left them for privacy. Clicking his tongue at Celeste’s masterplan, Ed grinned, honestly touched by the time and effort she’d put in, “you got it all figured out, don’t you?” His fingers tangled with hers the moment she returned to him, breath catching as they pressed up against each other, Ed caught between Celeste and the counter. “I want to take you back to my place,” he glanced behind him, to the stairs at the back of the store, mischievous glint in his eye, “it’s kind of a trek, but think you can do it?” Edgar teased, tugging on Celeste’s hand, sliding out to pull her towards the staircase leading to his apartment.

violet had gotten the invite for edgar;s birthday party. she knew that going would be the right thing to do. however, as she learnt over the past ten months, that wasn’t always enough. so, she might have spent the night in bed, watching reruns of west wing but all wasn’t quite lost.  it wasn’t all bad though. she might not have been there but she had texted him. she was quite proud of that.

her plan for his actual birthday consisted of two parts. one, makeup for saturday. two, and this was the important one, celebrate edgar. today was is and she wanted him to have everything.

so there she was, with her version of everything, a homemade cake and a small gift that she hoped meant signified all of the things that didn’t have words. oh, and a smile. that’s the important thing. it took a few moments for her to actually get the courage to knock on his door. what if he didn’t like his gift? or the cake? or what if she just made what was supposed to be a happy day, sad? however, before such thoughts could turn her away, she knocked on his door. “edgar? i’m a bit late i know, but i’m here.” @edgarmendoza​

At the knock on his door, Edgar rushed to greet Violet, smiling down at her as he let her in. While he knew he couldn’t expect her to come to the party, that sometimes she just couldn’t do the things he wanted, he couldn’t help but feel the disappointment when she didn’t show up. The little, anxious part of his mind told him that perhaps he pushed it too far on the night before Valentine’s, asking her to dance. It was too much, and whatever tentative friendship they’d managed to maintain, couldn’t risk that confusion again. 

But then she called, and all stress melted away, leaving him with more time with his friend. “Don’t worry about it,” he brushed away her apologies, like he always did, and let her into his space, “you haven’t been here in a while, have ya? Weird,” hurriedly pushing papers together and cleaning up the surfaces, it dawned on Ed how nervous he was to have her back in his tiny apartment. It felt too familiar. “Can I get you anything to drink?” He stepped towards the fridge, pulling open the door, frowning at the empty contents of the shelves, “we have... uh, water, water and more water.”

“I mean, if ya feel like you can do without a few toes, then I guess you’ve already made your choice,” she joked back with a shrug before grabbing hold of the axes for them. She walked over to the target practice spot closest to him and said, “Okay, come here.” She then began to quickly give him a rundown of what not to do and a good stance to try before demonstrating an actual throw. “…And that’s pretty all there is to it,” she said once she was finished. After going to pull her axe from the bullseye, she positioned herself a couple of steps from where he would need to stand and told him, “Now you give it a try.”

Edgar followed along with Isa’s instructions, nodding and taking as much as possible to avoid injury. He really didn’t want to wind up in the emergency room again. He let out an appreciative whistle as she demonstrated her throw, “are we allowed to cheer in axe throwin’? Cause I feel like I should cheer to that,” he grinned. Ed’s smile dimmed as he stepped up to the spot, axe in hand, stance almost as she’d shown him before. “How do I look?” He shot a glance at her before throwing, the axe landing far due to strength rather than any skill, and landing close to the target. “Ah… shiiiet. That’s zero points, right?”

          𝐁𝐘 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐓𝐈𝐌𝐄 𝐌𝐀𝐑𝐂𝐇 arrived, Aubrey was finding herself in high spirits. It was no secret the artist positively loved spring — and with not only New York slowly but surely beginning to blossom into the new season, but her planned road trip down the East Coast with Finley and her birthday coming up soon, too, things really couldn’t be any more exciting as there were literally so many future memories in the making to be looking forward to. To share her special birthday month with none other than the friend she was currently painting a mural for made everything even better. They were both turning thirty, flirty and thriving, after all. And what better way to surprise him on his very special day than by bringing him some delicious treats when she was only ever supposed to come into his record shop to continue working on their little art project? 

          “Special breakfast delivery for Mr. Ed Mendoza,”  the tiny brunette announced in her usual sing-song voice, a bright pink colored box in one hand and a tray with two coffees in the other as she carefully walked herself through the entrance door.  “Happy dirty thirty.”  ( @edgarmendoza​ )

When Aubrey had brought to him the idea of painting the mural, Edgar had been stunned. It was the nicest, most thoughtful thing anyone had done for him, and he hadn’t thought of the right way to thank her for her time yet. It was a delight, though, watching the bare, old walls of the record store slowly transform into the psychedelic ode to music and his grandfather. How could he ever thank her enough?

The kindness didn’t end there, however, as the sing-song voice of Aubrey rang through the store, calling to Edgar. Running out to greet her, Edgar’s already warm smile widened into to something glowing at the sight of two coffees and a box in her hands. “Hey, there’s nothin’ dirty about my thirty,” Edgar quipped, beaming down at Aubrey as he greeted her, “you know you didn’t have to get me anything, Aubs… I was gonna be in debt to you for the mural for the rest of my life, let alone for this coffee.”
