being a fire emblem villager is actually so scary. if a single bandit walks up to your village gate suddenly you're all dead... and you just have to hope the protagonists want the item you have to give them and aren't rushing through a low turn count playthrough...

you know i really like that claude and edelgard kind of reflect each other. like claude gets edelgard. he understands what she's doing. he also thinks that rhea is better off dead (or at least not in charge anymore) and really the only thing he can't see eye to eye with edelgard is her methods because claude is idealistic.

he knows the price of war but he'd prefer not to pay it. he would rather not sacrifice anyone in service of his dream, even if he knows it's inevitable. (his dialogue vs. edelgard really sticks with me for this reason)

and then there's dimitri who holds the position of 'wow the poors really have it rough, huh? i realized that when i was hanging out with them. maybe i should consider like... doing... like... something... to help the poors be happy. but that'll have to wait until after i've crushed any and all revolutionary action being taken against the church, feudal system, and crest-based caste system.'
