new/updated conceptkin symbol!
hi all! i don't usually make this kind of post, but feel it's necessary for community safety.
@/sillyjewishqueer, a member of the mogai community, has been posting awful transphobic garbage on a radfem sideblog for months, while simultaneously posting here in the mogai tag.
do NOT harass bug, just block and move on. i won't be sharing the sideblog because it is genuinely vile, but send me a dm or ask off-anon if you want proof/to block/etc.
that being said, if you're a trans woman or transfeminized member of the mogai community, please promote yourself on this post! happy pride!
I’ve talked briefly here about not having a dni on my blog or my terms but I technically align with being anti radqueer (in the sense that I do not align with the community and think that it is flawed), so I think I should also quickly note that yes, anyone can use my terms, but I am ‘anti radnormal’, and fyi I might block you if I see that you describe yourself or align with ‘radnormal’

snakehearted — an otherhearted term for having a connection with snakes in any way.
Happy National Indigenous History Month!!
[pt. Happy National Indigenous History Month!!. end pt.]
in canada, national indigenous history month is celebrated in june to recognize first nations, inuit, and métis peoples! as tumultuous as this year has been for indigenous people, i want to celebrate our continual resistance through joy and presence!!
———
for this month i’d like to send some recognition to indigenous mogai creators, particularly canadian first nations, inuit, and métis creators and coiners! (if you see some not listed here who you’d like to be, please let me know)
@pupgendered a métis mogai coiner who has coined terms such as métis queer and métis plural!
@anigitli a mixed native coiner who has coined terms such as ethnivariant mi’kmaq and indigigirl and indigiboy
@radiomogai a métis and jewish coiner and archiver! they have a wonderful archive with tons of indigenous and non-indigenous coins
@isuggestlandback a canadian cree creator who posts lots of indigenous awareness, politics, and important commentary
@lucidsdog a canadian inuk furry artist who is very talented and frequently has commissions open!
@ladyimaginarium a mixed mi’kmaq, métis, and more creator who’s posted several coins such as mi’kmaq / i’nuk intersex and two spirit
———
i’d also like to take the time to include some resources for both native and non native people interacting with this post! these resources are focused on canadian first nations, inuit, and métis peoples, but can be used for a wider range of nations!
indigenous resources network - an organization that was established by Indigenous workers for Indigenous workers to provide a platform for workers, business owners, leaders and their allies who support full Indigenous equitable inclusion in the natural resource sector across canada
indigenous women’s fund of canada - supporting programmes for Indigenous women’s education, empowerment, micro-loans, healing centres, museums and other important activities
the legacy of hope foundation - works with survivors, Indigenous communities, researchers, curators, and educators to develop educational resources to increase public awareness and knowledge of the history and effects of the residential school system and the ongoing experiences indigenous peoples continue to face
hello, radio! i come here today with a few questions.
ive recently been thinking about the violent maltreatment of indigenous peoples in north america. i would like to ask if you know of any resources to help educate others on this crisis? anything helps; articles, statistics, important dates, donation pools, etc.
i sat and thought for a moment earlier, trying to think of indigenous liomoqai creators to message about this issue, and honestly, you're the only one i could think of. so if there's also any indigenous liomoqai creators/archivists out there that you'd like to give a promo, also feel free!
thank you so much in advance. have a good timezone!
Hm... We don't have a lot of resources on-hand for this, but the final report from the National Inquiry into Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls (link) has information about, well, MMIWG, and the website at that link has other documents as well. I think of the Moose Hide Campaign (link) also. If you live in Turtle Island, I would also recommend looking up information about whose land you're on and seeing if the nations in your area accept donations or have storefronts. Even just poking around the websites of various nations is good, it can help with learning more about the identities of individual nations and combatting that idea of a homogenous Native American race!!
As for other Indigenous people in MOGAI... @indigenous-mogai, @militantcoining, @altarofdeceit, @emailmeurheart, @fishtank-thinktank, and @halosmic all come to mind!!
i encourage looking for local nations in your community you can support first and foremost! most nations have a website or facebook you can contact them through to find volunteering opportunities or other ways to support them! also, if you have local art markets or vendor halls look for local indigenous artists to support and buy from! additionally, many nations and groups will have events open for the general (non-native) public! they’re a great opportunity to show up and support us!
radio included some really good resources, but i’d like to add on to this list of online outreach and support resources, here are some great nonprofits, organizations, and groups!
native american disability law center
peacekeepers society
indigenous justice
association on american indian affairs - becoming an ally
native partnership / buynative
being a good ally to indigenous peoples starts by making space for us, listening to us, learning from us, and supporting us in the ways you can!
another thing is promoting the few holidays we do have to spread awareness, like MMIP, indigenous peoples' day, national native american heritage month, and other such holidays! a lot of these get overlooked and forgotten about, so spreading the message helps out a ton in getting people to see and hear our experiences and voices!
