Story idea

It’s been over a century, but she still feels the sting of a tragic love that was never meant to be. She’s learned her lesson and is content to wander through the world as a shadow of her former self. Despite her stubborn streak, there’s something about a pair of hazel eyes in the face of a young man that calls to her humanity again…

Loneliness is an epidemic in large cities that he’s fortunate enough not to suffer from. He knows he should be happy surrounded by friends and family who love and support him. His perfect life is marred only by the reoccurring nightmare that leaves him in tears and no memory of why. He’s happy to ignore them until a chance meeting with an ornery woman who feels strangely familiar…

This is an idea I've been playing with for nearly two decades! lol I love the idea of reincarnation and flipping the classic gender roles of a vampire romance. I have AuDHD and struggle to follow through lol so I guess my question is...would anyone read this?

Female lead - Vamp. Classic Tsundere. Grumpy introvert. Over 200 years old and over it. (I get Jesssica Jones vibes from her, but less of a drunk mess lol love you Jess!)

Male lead - Human. Reincarnated dead lover of female lead. Charming extrovert. (I don't have a comparison yet, but I'm feeling golden retriever vibes.)

I don't want this to be fluff either. I'm going for more of a dark adventure thing like Vampire Masquarade meets Immortal Instruments, you know? Anway, I'm probably just blabbing into the void, but I hope I can get some feedback!

ADHD/AuDHD Tips/Tricks

Hi Internet!

So as an ADHDer (and I suspect AuDHDer, but I haven't been diagnosed) that's lived well into her 30's, I have a few things I want to share. Now I should preface this with the fact that some of these may not work for you. They don't always work for me, but I still want to share in case someone finds something useful. Half of these are more about reframing how you think of things to make them easier.

Make your bed!: I know, it sounds so simple like "drink water", but I swear this helps. When I'm feeling stuck in my paralysis of "I can't do anything", I roll out of bed and make it immediately. Not well. Not even that neatly. Even if it doesn't snap me out of it, it feels like a small accomplishment and I get a small hit of dopamine.

It's never too late!: You know that hobby you've left sitting for months? Maybe years? Or the exercises you've been planning to start? Or maybe you started and stopped and every day you wake and think "Well it's already been forever since I did that". Guess what? WHO CARES!? What's wrong with today? Take advantage of that impulsive nature and just do it! Even for five minutes. If, after that, you stop, that's fine. If you want to keep going, do it! We often create these imaginary rules and I still get stuck in this mind set. Just the other day, I was complaining that I don't get to game anymore (I'm a PC gamer, mostly RPGs like Balder's Gate, Dragon Age, etc, but also Otomes and visual novels) and he asked why I don't just do it? I said I didn't feel like I could spend as much time on it as I'd like and that I hadn't done it in forever. He reminded me that I spend most evenings sitting on the couch watching tv or playing on my phone next to him. I felt very attacked lol but I realized he's right! What is stopping me from just going to sit on my computer? Just me! Seriously, I can't impress this upon you enough, but I know it's hard. I still haven't gotten to my computer yet, but I keep reminding myself that I can at any time. I think I might do it this weekend!

Be flexible with yourself: Everyone has off days, even neurotypicals (maybe less often, but you get my point). Don't beat yourself up too much, even if it's more like months or years of off days. Maybe a little depression has snuck in and that's ok! Remind yourself that every day is a new day. So if you've been sticking to a routine, but you broke it one day because you just couldn't, remember that tomorrow is a new day. A fresh start. The routine doesn't need to stay broken forever! Even if you broke the routine months ago, I don't care. Do it again for one day! No one says you have to be perfect. Our all or nothing thinking tends to make us forget this. Personally, I've finally got myself to wake early enough on weekdays to shower before work (and before I get my kid up) for nearly six months now. I don't wash my hair every day, but I always get in the shower. It helps me wake up and forces me to take care of my hygiene (I used to not shower for days before). Do I shower on weekends? Mostly not lol but that's ok!

Invite people over: And no, I don't mean just for social reasons, although we forget how important that is too. I'm a bit of a hermit myself, so it helps with that too, but this is mostly about cleaning. That's right! I'm sure most of you have heard this one by now, but I love this tip. I trick myself into going into turbo clean mode by occassionally inviting people to our house. This is usually my last resort, but it works EVERY TIME. You may burn out after, but at least your house/apartment/room will be clean! lol

Other People

I see the same people every day, but never interact with them.

The ADHD side of me wants to know everything about the lives of these random people who I intersect with daily, but the anxious side of me (and what I strongly believe is undiagnosed Autism) can't even make eye contact.

I see them every day and imagine what their lives are like. Like the kid with wild, curly hair that waits at the bus stop just outside my work.

I say kid, but he's likely in his early twenties. Swiftly aproaching 40 myself, anyone under 25 looks like a teen to me these days lol no offense.

Anyway, does anyone just talk to strangers anymore? Or am I on my way to becoming the annoying yet well-meaning middle aged woman that chats up strangers? Is it wrong that I /want/ to be?

I struggle with this all the time. I always feel like a burden to the people in my life. It's why I struggle to ask for help or just to ask for what I need from the people in my life. I'm working on it...
