Sad ramblings ahead.
There are two kinds of butterflies that you get in relationships. The first is the best type - the ones you get when your fingers brush over their skin, when your lips touch, when they send you a good morning and goodnight text. You feel sick with happiness, stomach fluttering all of the time that you’re apart and half of the time you’re together. You bite your lip and smile, blush and giggle. Your heart feels like it’s going to burst from happiness.
Then there’s the other kind of butterflies. These are the last ones - the slow burn of the relationship ending. The last fuck, the last kiss, the last birthday, the last christmas. It feels like you’re being torn apart. You can’t breathe, you can’t speak. You can’t think. You can’t blush or smile. You feel sick and tired and angry and sad and scared for the future. And then, just like that, it’s over.
But the feeling doesn’t end there. The feelings, the love, the butterflies, they don’t end when it’s over. And every barbed word, every ‘seen’, every shady status awakens the ugly butterflies. And eventually, you’ll begin to wish that you’d never opened yourself up and let the butterflies in in the first place.
you shouldn’t like things just because people tell you you’re supposed to.

On July 11, 1804, Vice-President Aaron Burr shot Alexander Hamilton in a famous duel that ended Hamilton’s life and ruined Burr’s.
For 202 years it remained the only instance of a sitting vice-president shooting someone until Dick Cheney broke the streak in 2006 by shooting 78-year-old lawyer Harry Whittington in the face during a quail hunt.
(That shooting was an accident and Whittington recovered, but the lesson remains that it’s never a good idea to piss off the vice-president.)
i love hearing what people *almost* got named.
my mom almost named me Sheila.
there’s trouble in the air, you can
and alexander’s by himself
i’ll let him tell it
there’s nothing funny about brexit. it is hurting people, particularly the working class. having been through the 2008 recession, i don’t see it as an amusing karmatic shift, i see the people who are going to have to choose between food and clothes like my parents did.
i want all of the americans watching it and saying “this isn’t going to happen to us” to understand that there are people who voted brexit who are shocked and horrified, who voted because they thought their vote “wouldn’t count” or that brexit “wouldn’t happen.” i want you to understand before you go to the polls in november if you even think about jokingly voting for trump bc “fuck it,” and if you don’t vote because “it doesn’t matter” i will personally be in your nightmares for every single hell-filled day of his presidency. because what we see in brexit is that people who are passionate vote - and unfortunately, enough people were passionately xenophobic.
now, knowing anything about america recently, are you sure that you want to say to yourself, “well, there aren’t enough bigots to make change”?
