My perfect man forever memorialized as a millet-loving grouch! At my request, my artist added the single grey chin feather. As typical/basic as it sounds, I feel like getting this helped a lot. I miss him pretty hard.

9 yrs old? Why did he die so young? :( RIP birdy
I was just tearing up over Einstein memories this morning. He was very young which makes it hurt so much more. Heart and liver failure was the official diagnosis. Doc thinks it may have been genetic since he had seemingly been so healthy in the years leading up to January when I first spotted symptoms. He likely had the issue for a while before anyone realized it. I just wish I had known. I'd give anything to have him back. I'm really glad people still visit his blog even if it's just to ask about what happened. I promise I'll share a picture of his little wooden urn and footy prints. It's all boxed away since I've moved, but I'll make it to unpacking one day.
The urn pendant I ordered arrived today. Einstein was a chatterbox, and you were guaranteed to hear him say “Such a good boy!” at least 20 billion times once he got going.
Had a tough time today picking up Einstein's ashes THEN I FOUND A HUGE STUFFED VERSION OF MY SMALLER 'TOO. It cheered me up a lot, so I brought it home. Einstein would have been scared shitless of it 😂 Indiana considers it a serious threat to the household.
I’ve packed away all his toys and perches. It helps a lot not to see his toy-filled cage every morning.
I dropped him off to be cremated yesterday at a small local place. I expressed my desire to have his leg band, and they kindly offered to retrieve it for me since I didn’t have the stomach to do it myself.
In a day or so, he’ll come home in a little carved wooden urn with some feathers and a little claw print made in clay.
I miss you so much, bub. @indianathegalah doesn’t understand what’s happened and keeps landing on your empty cage looking for you and chanting “Hey, bub!”. It’s heartbreaking.
I lost my perfect handsome little man last night. He fought so hard these last six months. I'm kind of at a loss right now. Thanks for enjoying all my pics of Einstein. I miss him so much. I can't bring myself to write anymore right now.
New bird means new decal! I’ve finally added @craigthebourke to my car, and look at these chubby birds!! Y'all have to check out @birdhism because these are too frikkin’ awesome! Now to find a place for them…

Pretty please welcome Lucy the 5 1/2 year old African Senegal to the family! She’s a consignment bird at the local shop. Her owner moved out of the country and was barred from bringing her back into the states if he returned. He loves her dearly, and left a 5 page bio on her likes and habits. She comes home tomorrow. She unfortunately loathes women, but my bf could not resist her charms. She’s giving me the stink eye for getting too close with the camera.
Da da da DAAAAAA! Doc was right! He's fully recovered! He has spent the entire morning singing and eating.
Story! While eating last night, he started sneezing repeatedly. I took him into a warm shower, but the sneezing continued. I think he horked up a couple millet seed hulls in the course of his sneezefit. By the time we got to the emergency vet, he's been sneezing non-stop for 30 minutes. After oxygen at the emergency vet, the sneezing (which started to sound like a horrible cough-type noise) subsided. This morning, we went to his avian vet, and has his nasal cavity flushed with no big surprises. Doc suggested x-ray imaging since his breathing is still a bit labored, however, I've opted against it for now. It was suggested that he inhaled a seed hull (that's what came up after his shower), causing some inflammation which should resolve on it's own. He's still active and annoying as ever. His head is buried in his food dish. I leave for vacation soon, so here's hoping he only improves when I'm away. His bird-sitter has all the emergency contact info. *stressssssssssssss*
Breathing Problems
After a sneezing fit last night, Einstein's breathing has become quite labored. We've just arrived at the vet. Cross your fingers for no bad news!
Another vet visit! I was concerned as he had gone from an already heafty 115 grams to now 131 grams (which he has maintained for three days) over the course of a mere 22 days.
Turns out it’s all muscle mass! He really is the Mr T of cockatiels! Doc wants to see him stay steady around 131g, and be back in a few months for one more round of radiographs. He’ll likely be able to come off his medication! Doc said she didn’t think he would ever recover fully much less be this healthy! Then she attributed it to my amazing care *brushes invisible chips off shoulder* 😏
ACTION EINSTEIN! He weighed in at a muscley 129g this morning. He's the Mr T of cockatiels.
