I finally got an ADHD assessment 🥳 , turns out i have autism instead just major executive dysfunction lol , now i have to wait for an autism diagnosis appointment 😵‍💫

Over a year later and i have heard nothing 🥲 when they said theyd put me at the top of the list for a diagnosis i didnt expect to be waiting over a year with absolutely no contact or confirmation😬 Thanks NHS 🫶

Its now year 6 since i started my diagnosis process and i am yet to receive one.

I was told roughly 3 years ago that i would be put on the autism diagnosis waitlist and haven’t heard ANYTHING since.

What the actual fuck is the point at this stage in my life .

April 2nd is Autism Awareness Day. People are aware of autism now, some of them even accept it, but how many actually appreciate it? So many people see autism appreciation as “this science/acting/musical genius has added so much to society! We must appreciate them!” Okay, but what about those of us whose talents aren’t as easily seen, or marketable? Those who aren’t in the spotlight?

We should appreciate the autistic people we know in our day to day life. Every autistic person is awesome, and it’s not in spite of our autism, but because of our autism. It’s because I’m autistic that I am who I am. If someone appreciates me I would want them to also appreciate my autism because it’s part of what makes me me.

To reach autism appreciation it’s going to be a fight. We’re going to have to keep climbing. There are so many who want to drag us down. They see us as different and in need of fixing. They see having an autistic child as something to be mourned instead of celebrated. We need to celebrate. We need to drown out their cries of sadness with our cheers of joy.

We are autistic, and we will never stop climbing!

Working in retail as an afab non-binary person:

Trying to mirror mens demeanour/ tone of voice and actions because you HATE the stupid pet names such as babe or darling or girl and it just comes off as rude because they see you as a woman.

Men get away with attitude and not giving a fuck because they’re men and its seen as normal for them, whereas i get shouted at if I’m slightly off in my customer service because I’m tired, hungry and sick of being treat like shit at my job for shit pay.

Neurotypical people making fidget toys a trend really annoys me. Using the example of fidget spinners, look how quickly shops everywhere we’re selling them as soon as they became wanted not needed. It shows the capacity to do something for nd accessibility but not wanting to till it’s beneficial to them . Another thing is due to nt people bringing fidgets into schools and getting them banned it takes away resources for nd people again, just because they wanted their unnecessary toy to play with.

I’m not best at expressing what I mean with this but I hope you get the idea. Society only caters to nt/able bodied people and not nd.

The colours are fun and personally helped me visualise that there is enough time to study relax etc in one day when I though there wasn’t
