Neurodivergent Things
Did you kNoW?
Stimulants affect people with ADHD differently because our brains are not processing the naturally produced dopamine as effectively as a neurotypical brain would. The stimulant helps boost us to a 'normal' feeling level.
This is why when a neurotypical person takes ADHD medication they have extreme bursts of productivity and write their thesis in one night or I dunno remodel their house, while an ADHD person might just take them and be like 'Hooray I managed to wash my clothes and hang them up in the same day!'
Jokes on them though, because I can drink coffee at 11pm and sleep right after. Take that society.
Having ADHD feels like I'm parenting a child in my brain
-"I know it's tough but if you sit down and just get this one more little bit of writing done for me, you can play Minecraft and watch a show when you get home! Doesn't that sound fun? Alright just a bit more!"
-"Yes I know washing the dishes is very boring, but guess what! You can listen to that funny video you really like while you do it, doesn't that sound fun buddy?"
-"You wanna buy a treat? Hey y'know what else would make you super cool tho? if you could save money this time! You're gonna be sooo rich! And there's a really tasty treat you can have when you get home! Wow yes that's it you're so good at saving money! You can have a treat next time, okay?"
-"I know it seems really boring and scary, but let's just go and see how you feel when you get there, okay? We can listen to that song you really like on the way!"
Sometimes the kid in my brain just stops listening and has a tantrum and then I feel like an unsuccessful parent to that child or I get really mad at the child for not doing enough, but sometimes the kid needs an easy fun play day to calm down, sometimes I gotta slowly ease the kid back into an activity that seems daunting
-"You only got a little bit done today? That's okay! At least you tried your best and did something! We'll try again tomorrow!"
My ADHD Rejection Sensitivity Dysphoria be going hard. Like I know that the people I talk to on Tumblr aren't always able to respond because they have lives outside of Tumblr. But I can't help but feel like if I don't get a response or reply then they hate me, I've done something wrong, I'm annoying, ect.
When it's me, I'm always like I have stuff going on irl. I can't be on Tumblr all the time. But if I don't get a quick response from people I go down a whole spiral of all the different things I could have done to make them made at me.
I can't handle rejection. I can't handle criticism. I can't handle failure. My brain refuses to allow me.
One of the symptons of ADHD is emotional dysregulation MEANING I get to tell people "I love you so much I need pills to manage it".

I’m ADHD. It along with many other mental and physical disabilities I have cause me to suffer a lot with a lot of things. It is often misunderstood and invalidated which makes things a lot worse for me and others with the same affliction, so here are some adhd icebergs I wanted to share, both to spread a little awareness as well as hopefully make some fellow adhd-ers feel seen, heard and validated if I can! I love you, and please never stop fighting and give yourself the kindness and validation you deserve my stars!
The two ADHD moods:
I can't do it.
I can't stop doing it.
The two types of ADHD time:
Now.
Not now.
The two ADHD memory modes:
I literally cannot recall the words that just came out of my mouth.
I can recite the opening paragraph of every single magic treehouse book.
