I realized something really kind of depressing about Incredibles 2 So you know how when Bob gets the call that Helen might be in trouble he immediately rushes out to go rescue her? Yes, you say. What’s so weird about that? Well I remembered that in the timeline of the movies, it’s only been a few months since everything that happened with Syndrome. So basically in the span of maybe 6 months or fewer, Bob has had to deal with the possibility that he might lose Helen more than once. First when Syndrome fired the missiles at the plane, and second when the Omnidroid landed in Metroville and he was trying to convince Helen to stay with the kids. Evelyn’s call was the third time in less than a year that Bob was confronted with the fact that his wife could actually die and he’d be helpless to save her.  Like…wtf Pixar I didn’t ask for these feelings

Syndrome’s eyes widen as she continued on, explaining herself.

He couldn’t believe what he was hearing. Was she right? Was he really only doing this for…any sort of attention? Was that what it boiled down to? …it did appear to be that way.

He wanted to shout. Debate. Explain to her that she was wrong. That he was as malicous as he claimed. That he wasn’t doing it for attention.

But how do you argue when you aren’t even sure for yourself?

He instead keeps oddly quiet for once, a frown on his face. He…didn’t know what to say. How to respond.

Soon, blue eyes become a glare at her. He runs at her now. “You’re wrong about me. There is no ‘good’, by your definition , in me, and I want to hurt all of you. Not just Mr.Incredible!!! ” he shouts now , hands up looking just about ready to grab her by the throat. Choke her out.

But before he even managed to grab her, he freezes up. Hesitates. Again, thinking of her words. It was holding him back. Confusing him too much. He frowns and sighs, lowering his hands once again.

       Helen didn’t move.        She knew he was smarter then that. Then to lay a hand on her. She instead just watched his actions. Watched as he lowered his hands. Watched his facial features shift and allowed his own words to sink into her mind. But she didn’t let them stay long. If he truly wanted to harm everyone he would. He would hurt her or do something to her while he has her in front of him. But he wasn’t. He didn’t make his own choice to or make his own move to no he resigned his own body movements. He decided not to.          “ See? Syndrome you couldn’t hurt me just now and you didn’t. “ She slowly moved so she’d be eye level with me. “ You’re just angry at the world. But it’s alright. Its not too late to change your mind. “  There was a saying she remembers someone telling her. Which was Every Villain is a hero in their own story. In this case she could see it. His anger was childish but made sense.

        Hazel hues locked with his blue orbs. Her legs were drawn up into a position so she could carefully have him on her legs. She could feel his cold skin against her warm palms. He was in a very bad condition, he seemed almost unstable. She watched all the emotions cross his features. The confusion in his eyes as he listened to her. She swallowed hard as she pulled him closer to her. Her hands slowly going down to put pressure on the spot that was bleeding to try to clot it. He was her baby boy. She saw him in a light most didn’t and despite his hard ships and his way of behaviour she was able to accept him as an INCREDIBLE. But right now, now was too soon.         He had just redeemed himself and looking at him, seeing all his scars hurt more. It hurt her like she was truly his mother. Seeing him in this condition made her heart throb and tear. Her eyes moved to glance up. To see the mayhem around them due to the confusion of the children and Bob. But it sounded like a muted movie to her. The air felt overly heated due to her blood pressure increasing, due to her worry, and due to her feeling to blame for this. She bit down into her bottom lip. Her eyes going back down to see him.      “ It’s ok Syn. “ Her voice was soft, gentle. “ Mommy’s got you. “ She whispered as she tried to shift him but stop so she wouldn’t cause pain. Mentally she was cursing at herself. Mentally she was yelling at herself. “ Vi. Call an ambulance please. “ Her voice cracked as her daughter stared at her. As she watched Violate’s mouth opened to argue Helen felt herself snap. “ DON’T ARGUE WITH ME! Just please call an ambulance. “ Why was she shaking? After everything that had happened between this family and Syndrome why did she want to care so much? Maybe cause she saw him as one of her own... Or maybe it was because she mentally believed that he doesn’t deserve this pain or the fact the jet harmed him like it did was their fault.

       Helen finally let go of the Android.  Slowly she took a set. Her shaking hands being placed on her knees. Her eyes looking down at the ground. Could it be a   D E V I A N T.  No she didn’t think it could be. Then again they were children of a RETIRED employee of Cyberlife... So maybe they could’ve... Mistaken them as a huge chess piece in this whole revolution type thing.           “ I used to work at Cyberlife, my family was also a target to a Deviant the previous year.... So they might have been targeted again. I... They are just kids... unless they want ransom or “ Her eyes looked to the boxes that were still unpacked from their last relocation. “ Or if they want us to try to influence Cyberlife then I don’t know. I don’t have that authority anymore.  “ She looked back at him. “ Please you must understand how important they are. Humans are fragile creatures and... I just want you to see that. I’m worried sick about them. If it helps any, Vi was interested in a boy in her grade. Maybe start there. “

But she could make out the voice despite the ringing in her ears. Connor.  She could feel a wet liquid on the side of her head. She must’ve scrapped it on her way down. A curse eased past her lips as she tried to sit up. How far did she drop? How was she still functioning? She grimaced as she placed a hand on Connor’s chest. 

    “ I … I’ll be fine Connor. Are you alright? “

Syndrome growls as she continued her little rant on the GREATNESS and IMPORTANCE of Family. He shakes his head ready to start a rebuttal. Call out a disgreement. Challenge her words.

But then her tone changes. She steps closer. And he begins to look rather…confused.

“…what…what are you saying? What are you trying to imply?” he hissed defensively. “I’ve already done great things. I’m so much stronger than I was!!” he shouts in anger before tilting his head when she mentions his intelligence. Having someone notice his talents…that was rather new.

His expression soon changes, from anger to a look of utter confusion by her words. He loses the battle stance, not sure whether to walk closer or farther. What if it was some sort of trick?

      “ What I am trying to say ... Is... “ Helen trailed off a little as she breathed out. If she could turn this around. Turn his thought process around. Make him understand and not... Hate supers. Then her children would be safe and he would be safe. He would be with people who could understand and help society. Even despite how he looks from that jet. “ Maybe you aren’t getting the support you need. It seems like you just.. Want attention no matter if its negative or not. As long as you can get that recognition its fine... When in actuality its not. “         She kept her eyes on him.         Still kept her voice level.          “ Syndrome. I have a feeling that you don’t actually want to hurt my kids or hurt me. You just want to hurt Mr. Incredible... And badly. Cause he didn’t believe in you. But despite that --- I still believe there might be some good in you that you might not see. Even when you had Jack Jack in your hands you were still didn’t drop him. You could’ve choose to do something terrible to him but you didn’t. With someone with true malicious intent would’ve harmed the defenseless infant in front of it’s family to show they weren’t playing around. But you you didn’t. “

Dash and violet

      Helen’s hands were tied. Not literally, more so figuratively.      Her red, puffy eyes looked at her two children. Looked at Dash and Violet. Staring at them for what felt like as time was frozen. She watched Violet bet against the sound proof  ( and more so bullet proof ) glass as. She watched her mouth move as she screamed at her mother. Her eyes then looked over to Dash who just stood there. Wide eyed. Tears rolling down his freckled checks as his hair was messy. His mask askew.       Over the intercom a timer was loudly beeping as well as a computer generated voice telling her to pick. She closed her eyes tightly. Hands trembling at her sides as she walked up to the glass panels in a daze. It was pick one or neither ... Something would happen to the city. She was so mentally out of it she couldn’t remember. She felt the glass against her gloved palms, her forehead touching the cold surface. 

     This is why she didn’t want them being Supers.     This is why she wanted to remain a secret.     THIS is why she told Bob not to try to be a hero.       “ I’m sorry.... “ She muttered, knowing they couldn’t hear her. She knew the rooms were built to not able their powers. Which meant they couldn’t... Save themselves. Her children would have to live with survivors guilt and they would remember. They would remember... They would remember she chose between her children that she loved equally. Her eyes burned as she started to cry and clench her eyes shut. “ NEITHER! I CAN’T CHOOSE! “ She screamed, it ripped from her as she slid down the glass and planted herself onto the floor. The counter was still going and she was going to stay planted right there. If Jack Jack was here she couldn’t live with herself. In fact she couldn’t live with herself if Bob was here either. She already knew the logical reason if she had to choose between one of the older children and her baby boy.          But still. No Parent should have to bury their children.

        Mentally she was fighting herself. Mentally Helen didn’t know what to do — who to choose. They were both her children. She loved both equally. She could feel her chest tighten up with a weight that felt as if there was an elephant sitting on her chest.  She loved them equally. She would die for both of them. She would hurt herself just to make sure they were safe…         But now she was given a situation where she had to choose. Her hazel eyes flashed to the blonde boy who she had watched grown from an infant and develop into such an amazing child who was on track. Then her eyes went to the strawberry blonde haired child who was years younger, who had no clue what was happening just look at her with those giant innocent eyes. Her heart felt like it was ripping in two. Her eyes then went to the person who held both of them captured.         “ Please. “ Her voice cracked as she balled her hands against the cement flooring. Gloved hands scrapping across the hard surface. Tears burned at the corners of her eyes. “ Please. PLEASE. Release…. “ Her voice cracked more as she looked at Jack Jack then back at Dash. “ …. Dashiell. “ The tears slowly rolled down her cheeks as she bit into her bottom lip. “ Jack Jack… Mommy loves you…. Mommy loves you so much…. Please come to mommy….  “  More she spoke more her voice cracked.
