When did male characters lose the ability to be soft and pretty femboys while still being cisgender?
Stop force trans-ing my man. Let him wear a skirt without calling him a woman.

Gio's article is not at all about what people seem to think it is about.
I'm honestly so shocked to see how many people are writing off Gio's claims and acting like Hussie can do no wrong. especially on the forums, of course. I think it is in part because of the title of Gio's article - in my opinion, this story is not particularly about the UHC being taken down (and when framed that way, the assertion is made, rightly, that it's still accessible and also Gio sucks, end of story).
This is a story of Andrew Hussie's entitlement toward the creative work of others, stretching all the way back to the early days. This is a story of how Andrew Hussie behaves when not able to control the behavior of others. This is a story among several, if not many of Andrew Hussie's continual weaponization of legal maneuvers to manipulate people. And in fact, it sure sounds to me like part of Gio's assertions of Hussie's shady behavior has already been confirmed in Miles' statement, where he said:
"gio was Not trying everything he could to make this work, because by his own admission in the article he refused to sign a license to continue to publish the Entirety Of A Body Of Work That Didnât Belong To Him, and i also strongly suspect did everything in his power to dissuade bambosh from licensing when it was bambosh andrew was doing the initial negotiating with, Precisely Because We Were Worried About Situations Like This. at the time i actually thought that was TOO paranoid, believe it or not, but holy shit was i wrong about that, lol."
From Gio's article - In the messages from Miles during the early communication, Miles says that after giving Bambosh the NDA and a private conversation between them and Andrew, Gio would also receive an NDA and have a similar conversation, sort of an interview before the negotiations began. If it is true that no NDA was presented to Gio and Gio was not stalling, this was just an excuse to get Bambosh alone and not have to deal with Gio. Sure sounds like it tracks, at least to me. They cornered Bambosh, tried to only work with him and cut Gio out of the deal while weaponizing legal documents to do so. The NDA/non-NDA dynamic between Bambosh and Gio meant that they could not discuss the negotiations between them, and Bambosh then left the project.
Please don't think that just because Gio's article is dramatic, that it's not credible. To be honest, if I had been jerked around that much for that long I'd be pretty uncharitable too. The most credible part to me is how familiar it sounds. I know people are discrediting Gio and calling them biased...well, everyone has bias - I think it'd be worse had Gio pretended to not feel the way they feel about things at this point. The idea that language used with regards to abusive relationships is overblown - divide and conquer and DARVO are very real tactics people use to have power over others in many situations, like in cases of medical or financial abuse. Domestic violence is not the only arena in which these things happen.
Finally, I personally am not only interested in how Andrew Hussie treats their friends. I'm far more interested in how they treat people they don't respect. And the answer is...extraordinarily poorly and unprofessionally.
needed to get that post-chapter 3+4 playthrough energy out somehow

(Are they non-binary? â Analyzing Undertale/Deltarune's trans representation.)
The quint essential video on Undertale and Deltarune's trans and non-binary representation. If any video is going to end nearly a decade of discourse/arguing over if these games have non-binary characters or not, it's probably this one!
(Oh what am I kidding people are still going to scream about the gender and pronouns discourse but one can hope!)
Every argument is tackled!
Someone on Reddit claiming that Legends of Localization supposedly confirms that the character's genders are up for interpretation? We analyses what the book actually says!
Someone says that they/them pronouns aren't exclusive to enbys? We'll take every other logical explanation for they/them pronouns (besides an enby gender idendity), and analyses almost every single they/them character in UT/DR, to see if their pronouns can be explained without a non-binary gender identity!! (Spoiler alert, most can't be explained without an enby gender!!!)
If someone tries to argue why Kris is non-binary, this video likely debunks their argument! It's probably one of, if not the most extensive video analyzing, and arguing for Undertale and Deltarune's Transgender/Non-Binary Representation!
This is a video I've spent many long and hard months making so I hope it makes a difference!
Below is a list of all of the sources, videos, and music used in the essay.
If your theory's load-bearing assumption is "Toby Fox is a massive fucking coward, and he forces everyone who works with him to also be a massive fucking coward", I suggest rethinking your theory.
The new Mario Kart looks awesome but I'm really tired of the "Evergreen" approach when it comes to the roster, where even new characters from mainline Mario games are pushed out and the only thing they feel confident in adding are generic enemies.
Mario Odysssey introduced a ton of new stuff notably characters like Cappy or the Broodals but the only thing allowed to be taken from that game into the spinoffs was Pauline, who wasn't even a new character but had existed from the literal inception of the franchise and they still wouldn't give her the time of day until now.
Like sure, I'd love RPG characters like Geno but that's a pipe dream. But can we not at least get characters from the Mario platformers? We can't even spring for E. Gadd? Really?
It even looks like they cut the Koopalings, come on man.
Autopsy Notes
Greetings all,
Well, it's been about a year since the last Of The Killer game came out. I had some notes on my harddrive on the development of each episode, that I was originally going to include in the loader but which ended up feeling a little much - I didn't want to crowd out anyone's impressions of the games themselves. But for the pseudo-anniversary I figured I would try cleaning them up and reposting to my website, for the curious.
You can read the autopsy notes here: http://harmonyzone.org/text/killernotes/autopsypile.html
Alternately you can browse my webpage of interesting mahjong game screenshots here: http://harmonyzone.org/mahjongloveaffair.html
Best wishes to all on the road of killing and mahjong.
oh boy, now i have even more places where i can say the creator is wrong about their own game!
Cyberpedia - a non-Fandom wiki for Undertale and Deltarune - a call for editors
https://cyberpedia.miraheze.org/wiki/Main_Page
It is becoming increasingly clear that Fandom is no longer a suitable place to host wikis - the Undertale Yellow wiki has already abandoned it, along with plenty of high-profile non-Toby Fox-related wikis. In addition the existing Fandom wiki is not of the best quality. Because of this, I have decided to create a new wiki for both Undertale and Deltarune, hosted on Miraheze. I originally posted about this wiki about a year ago - this is a reminder of its existence.
The wiki has now had the pages from the Undertale and Deltarune wiki imported into it. It now needs your help to clean up and improve these articles. I do not have the time needed to do this, so I am asking for help. This wiki cannot function without your support in editing it. In addition, any help spreading the news about this wiki would be greatly appreciated.
In making this new wiki, I have elected to institute a few policies. The policies are not complete and nothing is set in stone - as with any wiki, these policies can be changed if there is consensus. In particular I would like to draw attention to the policy banning speculation and requiring sources for information found outside the games - I feel these are necessary policies.
I should also mention the policy on gender in the rules. I know this is likely to be controversial, but I am open to changing it if there is a clear consensus among editors to do so. I just feel that the no-speculation policy should apply to gender as well.
I should note that the backend of the site is basically just me throwing together something that seems to work if you squint at it - if there is anyone here who knows more about how MediaWiki/css works, your help would be greatly appreciated.
If you have any questions or concerns, please let me know. I hope to be able to find support in building a new and better wiki.
A sentence I've grown wary of is "This seems like something Toby Fox would do" because you'll see it and the "This" in question is always something completely absurd like "Leaking the entire soundtrack on soundcloud years before development is done" or "Spend significant time foreshadowing and teasing characters and plot points that don't actually exist" or "Stop using leitmotific storytelling altogether" and the reason given is always that it would subvert people's expectations.
Like guys I know Undertale was subversive but are we forgetting that it was also good.
There are deep spiritual affinities between Ambition and Anthology of the Killer
Made many months ago and only now I realised Tumblr would probably appreciate it
Why do so many Sims 2 modders insist on using Tumblr rather than a dedicated site like the excellent ModTheSims to post their content?
Understand this might be a bit of a live hand grenade, but I genuinely do not understand it. Tumblr is a terrible site for hosting mods - it's extremely difficult to find anything, while ModTheSims in particular is an excellent site.
What baffles me even further are those creators who used to post to MTS etc. and now only post to Tumblr.
Spent today checking out The Amazing Digital Circus and Murder Drones, and god, the kids today have it so good when it comes to this sort of content. When I was a teen, I was obsessed with Red vs. Blue and RWBY, which I think it's fair to say are the equivalents of the time, and the sheer gulf in terms of writing quality and production value is stunning. I hear there were some rumblings of unprofessional conduct from the production company, which would hardly be surprising considering this is yet another guys-working-from-their-basement success story, but much bigger companies with much shittier business practises consistently put out much worse content than this.
The Amazing Digital Circus is definitely the better show of the two, thanks to its slam-dunk premise and some great writing from Gooseworx. The producers have talked about aiming to fill a perceived gap in the market between kids' cartoons (The Boss Baby) and adult animation (Bojack Horseman), and I think they have successfully threaded the needle to create a very unique tone. There's a sense of these works existing totally outside the mainstream media machine; they're not getting BBFC rated, but you just know millions of kids are watching them. It's on YouTube and the fact that it looks like some Frozen Spider-Man kids' slop just means da parents won't question what their kids are watching.
But truth be told, there's nothing objectionable about the content of The Amazing Digital Circus whatsoever. It's unusually metatextual and loosely apes the aesthetics of much darker media, touching on slightly more existential themes than your typical kids' cartoon, but it still has a lot in common with those same cartoons. The zany characters are all fairly one-note, and the emotional arcs of the episodes are honestly quite straightforward. The second episode in particular has an absolutely textbook plot structure to it. It's a far more self-assured and traditional style of writing than you ever see in this kind of independent workâcertainly far more so than Murder Drones, which is written by an insane person.
More than anything, I'm reminded of how I felt watching Puella Magi Madoka Magica: that it's a very solid work of fiction, but that the people who'd get the most out of the work are isolated teens struggling to make the transition into adulthood. Certainly if nothing else, the fandoms of these shows must be bringing a lot of kids together around the world. I adore this soundbite from Goose: "Above anything else, I just wanted it to feel kind of lonely." You see Pomni's worldview shatter, she suddenly finds herself in a body that feels completely wrong, and she has to construct a new kind of belonging for herself.
As for Murder Drones, that show's absolutely fucking nuts, yo. The writing is at once painfully basic and utterly incomprehensible. If someone just sat down and explained the plot straightforwardly, it would be fantastically boring. But man, the presentation, the sheer delight the animators seem to approach every scene with...! I'd say it's clearly trying to use "the characters are robots" as an excuse to expose da kids to some absolutely shocking levels of gore, much like the Transformers movies, but midway through the series it starts straightup swapping the oil and wires for blood and bones and you've got to respect that.
The writing itself is so excruciatingly irony-poisoned that it goes beyond cringe and somehow wraps back around again to being sincerely funny. The show kind of wants to have its cake and eat it in terms of constantly lampshading how flat and clichĂŠ the emotional plotting is, but also clearly aiming to genuinely tug at the heartstrings and whip fans into a frenzy. And it kind of succeeds, I think! The way it veers between bizarrely high-effort implementations of memes, seriously cool fight scenes and horror visuals, and big emotional moments is very disarming. If The Amazing Digital Circus is an attempt to faithfully rework the American-cartoon formula for a slightly older audience, Murder Drones aims to crib the aesthetics of high-school cartoons while actively rejecting every traditional narrative technique used in those stories. Which means it's kind of bad, which means it's also kind of great.
If it's not already, then within a couple of years it will be deeply cringe to have ever been into Murder Drones in particular or (to a slightly lesser extent) The Amazing Digital Circus, in much the same way that everyone seems embarrassed to admit they were ever a Homestuck fan. But like with Homestuck, I feel like these series are genuinely pushing at the frontiers of storytelling in a way that's commendable and might inspire new kinds of writing once the fans grow up.
ENA is also pretty good, for the record.
This post got me to watch Murder Drones, so thanks for that.
It's... I'm not sure I would call it "good," exactly, especially the writing, but... god, the fucking visuals!!
The whole thing is just gorgeous. Every frame looks like an ad for the advanced lighting capabilities of some piece of 3D rendering software. And it moves like an animator's demo reel, extended into an entire show. Every little thing, every motion and stray detail, goes the extra mile and then goes the extra-extra mile after it.
If you strung all 8 episodes together, made some cuts for length (!), and played it in a movie theater, it'd fit right in next to CGI films made by 100+ person teams at big-name studios.
How do these people finance this stuff?? Are they making back their budget? Just from, what â the usual Youtube monetization?
(I do have one complaint about the visuals, though â mostly remarkable because the rest was so professional. Many of the characters look way, way too similar to one another, to the point that it makes the show frequently difficult to follow.
They're mass-produced robots, sure, fine. But they aren't really identical, they've got different eye and hair colors and stuff... except the designers, having hit on the perfectly good idea of distinguishing the characters with hair/eye color, then decided that there would only be two possible configurations, purple/purple and yellow/yellow, and a big roster of major and minor characters in each configuration. Following the plot often requires determining which purple/purple or yellow/yellow character (or pair/trio of the same) you're looking at in some, like, 1.5-second shot, heavily obscured by spooky shadows and/or magical glowing effects, placed in the middle of a hyperkinetic, rapid-fire series of similar shots. Baffling.)
"How do these people finance this stuff?? Are they making back their budget? Just from, what â the usual Youtube monetization?"
Merchandising. They pump out a lot of merch and advertise it heavily.
So not that different from kids shows on TV, though for some reason in the past couple of decades most kids shows aimed at the above-preschool demographic - at least the ones that get any attention - don't go very hard on the merchandise front. Glitch have hit a sweet spot with their focus on teens - an underserved group that's old enough to have some disposable income and young enough not to have fiscal restraint.
