Noodle had no concept of personal boundaries at the best of times- and to ask her to keep her curious attitude in check when she came across a game she had never seen before would have been just cruel.

“What are you doing?” she asked, peeking around the corner to see the other girl amidst a collection of boards, dice and figurines. “Can I come watch you?”

She was tempted to ask if she could play as well but…she had no idea what was going on.

nerris was more than used to other campers deciding to avoid her, leaving her to sit alone and play pixies & pythons with mr. waffles and friends. it was nearly an every-day situation, and she was perfectly content with that set up. although, admittedly, she did get excited when somebody showed interest in what she liked.

she found herself jolting a little bit when noodle showed up, surprised for a moment before excitement overtook everything else.

“ sure ! “ she wasn’t even sure she knew who this was, but hey! they were showing an interest in pixies & pythons!! she quickly reached out to push a few of the stuffed animals closing together, clearing out a spot just big enough for another person. “ i’m playing pixies & pythons ! it’s a roleplaying game involving things like magic and fights and adventures - the board’s just so i don’t get confused about where everybody is . “

The male looked softly to the other as he smiles “I’m fine Nerris! How are you~!” he responds cheerfully as he was joyful as usual, his eyes curiously watching the other.

“ i’m fine , you just .. look a little paler than normal . “ yeah, the smiling and cheerful personality was majorly off-base, too. having played a max-inspired character in one of prestons plays before, she knows what he’s like. (or, well, she has a certain image.. and this is nothing like it.) “ did uh ... did something happen ? “

“ hey max , are you sick or something ? “ blue eyes looking the boy up and down, inspecting him, trying to figure out why he seemed so absolutely o f f today. sure, he was wearing a different coloured hoodie, but she just figured he was finally aware of how dirty his blue ones were getting and switched it out so the counselors could wash them. (although why not just ditch the hoodie all together? it was SUMMER after all.)

“ yes ! ! “ an excited yell as nerris dropped down from the tree she’d just been climbing, squirrel held triumphantly (but gently- it wasn’t struggling and she didn’t want to hurt it,) in one hand. “ nikki , look at this ! “ she let the squirrel rest on both her hands, holding it for nikki to be able to clearly see. “ i have a new familiar ! “ yeah , grabbing them from trees isn’t how that works, especially with your history of wildlife interactions, but sure, nerris.

“ why would you ? “ asked in all seriousness, appreciative glance taking in nerris from head to toe. dark navy with bits of gold and glitter, not nearly as short as the skirt tabii herself was wearing. the neckline dipped a bit and accentuated the curves … it was almost like a cinderella moment.

“ you look h-a-w-t, hot. “ tabii spells out in a sing song. “ and i didn’t even make you wear heels. “ tabii’s own being a full four inches that could literally be used to shank a man. “ you look fine, boo. “ a pat to the cheek is all nerris gets before she’s being dragged along by the tiny ex-flower scout.

“ i dunno . . “ the only words she managed to get out before tabii was pulling her along, words dropping off into some sort of undignified squawk. no, she was under prepared to go out in public in this. she couldn’t kick ass in this outfit, she was going to spend the entire time she was in the damn dress worried she was going to flash people just by walking. even though tabii was wearing something noticeably shorter and was perfectly fine.

“ how long did i have to stay out in this again - “ oh yeah, you can hear the regret in her voice. you can hear the hope that there was no set time so the moment she stepped foot outside she could run back inside and change into the usual attire. you can actually probably hear her stubborn determination to follow through with bets wavering. don’t let her do it, tabii.

Maxwell looked at the bird as he looked annoyed, to the bird as he quietly went to go help Nerris but making a animal noise that sounded like a wolf “awo awo awoooooooooo!” he yelled at the bird.

a shriek as nerris tries not to fall off the tower, peering over and frantically waving one arm in the general direction of the bird, trying to see just what was making such a noise. there were wolves in these woods, nikki had spoken with them before, they’d all seen it. but, no, it was just another kid.

“ hey ! “ a squeak as the bird bypasses her foam sword- violent motherfucker wouldn’t back off! it was determined and her sword wasn’t strong enough to ward it off with pain. “ that’s not working !! maybe try getting a stick or something ? ! “ she’d get one herself , but every moment not paying attention to the weirdly violent bird was a moment of vulnerability she couldn’t afford.

“ nooo ! “ quickly, nerris is reaching to grab her sisters hand, clutching it between her own and dropping to one knee next to the faux-deceased body lain upon the ground. “ i will avenge youuuu ! ! “

her gaze swooping to look in the general direction of the sun- clearly the evil here,- before she’s standing up, leaving her sister to simmer for a solid minute before returning and spilling a full cup of water all over ris. completely intentional.
