Ok but the fact that I totally get Neytiri's hate for humans as a black/indigenous woman myself. Like yeah "Not all humans" but is always human...

Can we blame her? They destroyed her home, persecuted her, killed members of her family, her FIRSTBORN. She just wants PEACE, but they just keep testing her. Her rage is totally valid but Jake doesn't understand it, at the end of the day... yeah, he still an alien...

Avatar: Fire and Ash theory

Potential theory for the upcoming third film in the Avatar franchise regarding Neytiri and Varang:

So I’ve been looking into some of the stuff that James Cameron has been teasing about the newest Avatar film, and it seems he keeps hinting at how devastating the next film will be.

He claimed that his wife watched the film and had a very emotional reaction, and that she couldn’t stop crying for 4 hours. He’s claimed that audiences will be saying “Fuck, that’s not what I signed up for” when they’ve finished the movie, and has hinted that this film will obviously be a lot darker than the last two.

So obviously everyone’s first assumption is that someone else is going to die. While this may still happen, I just don’t think they would kill off another Sully member after the last one’s ending. Who knows, maybe Aonung or Tonowari will get killed off?

But I feel like those deaths wouldn’t be that devastating to leave someone crying for 4 hours and have everyone teasing how emotional the next movie is going to be. It may not be the loss of a character James was hinting at, but an emotional and spiritual loss instead.

My theory?

I think Varang and Neytiri are going to face off against one another, and Neytiri will lose, resulting in Varang cutting off Neytiri’s Kuru.

This would be the most traumatic, emotional loss that any Na’vi could go through. It’s already been hinted that Neytiri will get injured, and it’s been speculated that she will lose her arm, but what if it’s her kuru instead?

Varang has been quoted saying “your goddess has no dominion here” and Ronals quote to Neytiri from the last movie “it seems Eywa has turned her back on you” could be foreshadowing this as well.

This would ultimately mean: Neytiri will lose her entire connection to her home, Eywa, the spirit tree which would mean she could never see Neteyam, her father, or her sister ever again. She would never be able to bond with her ikran, or anything on pandora. Her connection would be completely severed.

They’ve already teased the image of Varang wearing a kuru necklace, and from memory, they cut a scene from the first avatar movie where Tsu’tey had his kuru cut off and it was described as a fate worse than death? Maybe they cut that scene out because they were going to use the idea in a later film?

I just think that would be the final nail in the coffin for Neytiri’s sanity - shes hanging on by a thread after Neteyams death, and this could be the thing that totally has her go off the rails.

I just think that would truly be the most shocking and absolutely soul crushing thing to happen to Neytiri, and I wouldn’t rule it out as a theory. It seems VERY possible to me and would change her whole dynamic. She could turn on Kiri and become envious of her connection to Eywa, she could turn her back on Jake, etc.

I, at first, believed that this part of the trailer was showing Neytiri vs Varang in the final battle but I think these are two different scenes from different time points in the film.

Just look at those charged particle streaks behind Neytiri. The crazy magnetic flux they are in. How could VArang even hold onto a metal weapon in this?

It also looks like Varang's eyes are on the flame itself not on anyone in front of her. And the person behind her is too relaxed. I think this is much earlier in the film. I think it's just the part where Quaritch isshowing her human weapons and she loves the flamethrower instantly. Like this (Oona is holding the prop version of the same gun).

So who is Neytiri aiming at? Maybe it's still Varang and they are hiding something about her at this point. Maybe there are just more people there.

Or if I can speculate something crazy.

Maybe it's Quaritch. Maybe he and Jake rescue Spider but Jake gets stuck or Quaritch screws him over again and then tries to take Spider with him. And then Neytiri, Kiri and Lo'ak arrive and they just don't let him. It would be so awesome if Neytiri was the one who stopped Quaritch here.

I am probably completely off but I want this so bad. Still, it has to be something they don't want to spoil in the trailer and just standing against Varang wouldn't really be spoilery enough. So maybe, maybe...

Arrow to the heart

So can we talk how Neytiri gets shot in basically the same spot as Neteyam?

It's the same shoulder. It also goes through. Also close to the heart.

But she is shot by an arrow that stays in the wound and helps stem the bleeding (do not ever take the object from your wound no matter what they do in movie).

And Neteyam was shot from a recom rifle probably with those bullets that splinter on impact so there might've been more damage inside.

And it looks more to the side so it missed the vital part in Neytiri just by being a little bit off. But this is so close to that wound.

Seeing Neytiri with almost the same wound as the one that took her son. Her getting pierced almost in the same place as Neteyam as to manifest the wound in her heart and soul in her flesh. Her being in all this pain in her flesh and her mind and still fighting so fiercely to protect her other kids.

This is so heartbreaking but also so beautifully scripted 💔

Do we think Neytiri getting shot in an almost similar way as Neteyam was Jake’s moment of realization that Toruk Makto needs to come back and finish this? You can literally see the arrow pierce right through her shoulder and then that scene of her passed out in her ikran who’s flying her home. Now imagine the moment Jake finds her like that, not knowing if she will make it. The flashbacks of his son dying in almost the same way aaaaaa 😭

I saw some movie edits from tuk and Neytiri and I think they have a special relationship, but then I also wanted to draw Tuk with Jake 🥺 I think Tuk needs a lot of hugs and love! We also need more art from her! I love this girl 🫂

Jeytiri’s dynamic would have been so much better and interesting if it involved human Jake too instead of just his avatar. these two scenes are literally the purest and sweetest in the whole movie, there is such an absolute and incomparable authenticity when Neytiri is with human Jake. I get that him being in his avatar is fundamental to the story, but it’s when she interacts with his real, human body that we know their love is so true and deep. I do love Jeytiri in the first movie, but I just think their love story would have been even more genuine and meaningful if she had interacted with real Jake more.

Look at them walking together in matching battle outfits and paint Whatever differences they have during the Fire and Ash movie by the end they are back to being the ultimate couple. So completely in sync. So cool .

Neytiri is GOING THROUGH IT MY POOR GIRL. She's still very clearly grieving, and trying to process the death of her son and the ongoing danger her family is in. The second to last photo appears to be her after she's been shot with an arrow, which is why I'm guessing she's in the hospital.
