My buddy wrote a cookbook -Isn't waiting for some publisher
My friend Hana is waiting around for some agent or publishing house to value her work. She's taken matters into her own hands and decided to crowd fund the publication of "Let's Cooking!" Her japanese cookbook.
I am so Stoked for her. I can't wait to see her make a milli doing what she loves.
"For the last two years I’ve been collecting, testing, and revising recipes, and have had the dishes photographed and the book designed. Now it’s time to make this book a reality.
All that’s left to do is to come up with the money to print it, and that’s where I’m going to need your help. I need to raise $7,000 to print the book, so I’m launching an Indiegogo crowd funding campaign to do it. For those of you who haven’t heard of crowd funding before, sites like Indiegogo, Kickstarter, and other crowd funding platforms are sites that let ordinary people (like me!) raise money to start a project.
Here’s how the campaign will work:
The Let’s Cooking campaign will run for a limited amount of time, and I’ll try to raise my goal of $7,000 within that time. Supporters (like you!) can contribute online from anywhere in the world.
In exchange for donations, supporters receive “perks”. I’ll be offering the cookbook as a “perk” for any donation of $25 or more, and even cooler perks (like signed copies or even a private cooking lesson) for donations at higher levels. That means everyone who supports the campaign receives something in return.
If I reach my campaign goal by the deadline: Indiegogo will give me the money, I’ll be able to print the book and give my supporters their “perks”.
If the campaign is unsuccessful: You won’t be charged, and I’ll be back to square one.
The beauty of Indiegogo is that for supporters, there’s no risk. If I don’t meet my goal – you won’t pay. Then again, if the goal isn’t met, you won’t get a copy of the cookbook either!
