Like woah like yeah medieval au (I know merlin is kinda just a ‘whatever suits’ period which is fine because the Arthurian takes don’t/really/ have a set period), but specifically merlin au of superbat is interesting and like who are the other characters and also which one is the prince snd who is the wizard, I am intrigued

I’ll start by saying that it’s not a hard and fast BBC Merlin AU - I’m not sticking to most of canon, I’m mainly using it as a jumping off point.
Clark is Merlin! I’m interpreting Kryptonians as sorcerers/fey folk. Just like in the show, magic is forbidden in the kingdom of Camelot. He was a fey child found in the forest and grew up in a Small Village with his adoptive peasant farmer parents. Just like in DC and BBC Merlin canon, he knows he has strange powers but doesn’t know where they came from, only that he needs to hide them from the rest of the world. As the story goes on, he learns how to better control his magic and uses it to help others when he can
Bruce is Arthur! He starts out fearing and hating magic like his father taught him - Thomas is still alive, and is King of Camelot (Gotham is the capital city) - but over time learns it can be used for good, and it might be the only way to save his kingdom from a terrible war …
He also acts as a mysterious masked vigilante at night, the “Dark Knight”. He knows he can be doing more as the crown prince to help his city/kingdom, but his father and the crown’s advisors are very set in the current systems, and he decides to take matters into his own hands if the King and his Men won’t help the common folk.
Dick, Jason, and Tim are all collectively “Robin”. During the day they’re all wards of the king, and squires training under Bruce, but at night they join him in patrolling the streets and defending the poorer citizens of Gotham. Over the course of the story as they older they end up becoming something like a Round Table of knights for Bruce

I’ve taken a lot of inspiration from Tolkien’s Elves for how the people of Krypton (this world’s version of the Isle of Avalon) speak and interact with the world

Kara shows up and is able to help Clark hone his abilities. She’s sort of a combo between Gaius/Aglain/Kilgharrah for Clark’s Merlin
Damian enters the story in chapter 2, before things get super crazy. He’s presented to the court of Camelot as the son of Bruce and Talia, daughter of the infamous Jinn King. Even though he’s technically a bastard, he’s welcomed as heir to the throne of Camelot, but the Robins have a feeling there’s more to him than anyone is being told…
I really like “The Green Man” being the villain in Dark Knights of Steel (don’t love that they combined Luthor and the Joker into one character, but whatever). The Green Man is an ambiguous figure from english folklore similar to a Wild Man. I’m taking this idea and tweaking it for my Main Bad Guy except it’s just the Joker, not a fusion with him + Luthor
