Now that I’ve had time to stew, Game of Thrones finale thoughts (spoiler alert: it was trash)
All of the spoilers are ahead so…
What we’re NOT gonna do is stan Sansa Stark.
She betrayed her brother, her family, risked compromising the allegiance between the northern armies, the Unsullied, and Dothraki, and created the entire conflict that led to the destruction of King’s Landing.
Her actions ultimately led to Jon feeling forced to kill a woman he loved, breaking his loyalty that we’ve all seen he cares about more than anything else.
Sansa did all of this with the intention of seating the “rightful heir” on the Iron Throne because she believed Jon/Aegon would be a better ruler.
She spread the truth that Jon was a Targaryen intending for him to rule, to undermine and subvert Dany’s claim, and when the moment came to actually follow through on those intentions, she was… silent..?!
So Sansa compromised the safety of the ENTIRE REALM, compromised military allegiances, compromised Jon’s love and happiness, betrayed her family, was the catalyst for the deaths of hundreds of thousands of people with one goal in mind, and when achieving that goal was at her fingertips, she did NOTHING.
Why go to all that effort, why reveal Jon’s true identity, and why try so hard to affirm his claim for the throne only to disregard it when the high lords of Westeros came together to decide on a ruler?
In the end Sansa gets rewarded for being the literal worst kind of person and nobody holds her accountable for her actions and she just gets.. forgiven?? 12/10 should’ve been executed in the episode.
DAENERYS TARGARYEN DESERVED BETTER
Tf happened to Drogon? He’s flying east, has Dany firmly in tow, and yet everyone knows how Dany died? Nobody was there to see it so Jon must’ve confessed.
If Jon confessed, you’re telling me Grey Worm wouldn’t have cut him down on the spot? That the Unsullied and Dothraki that are loyal to a fault and better fighters than the Westerosi armies wouldn’t have slaughtered people to avenge their queen?
So you’re telling me the Unsullied and Dothraki just lay down their arms and piss off to nowhere without a fight. Riiiiight.
Bran trying to warg into Drogon would probably kill him but go off I guess.
Brienne finishing Jaime’s entry in the Kingsguard histories and being nice about him after he acted like a fuckboy to her and broke her heart? Foh with that nonsense.
Drogon is flying east towards Essos. Essos, where red priests and priestesses championed Dany’s cause and touted her as the one who was promised, and you think for a second one of them sees her dead body in her dragon’s claw and doesn’t resurrect her? Not digging the loose ends.
Drogon is alive. Dragons can presumably asexually lay viable eggs in ASOIAF. Drogon is flying towards Essos, again, rife with red priests and priestesses, can potentially lay eggs, and there’s potential for a resurrected and justifiably pissed Dany to raise more dragons. Again, loose ends, and the potential for a peaceful realm looking less and less likely. This makes it look more like an “eye of the storm” peace than true peace.

Literally the only good part of the episode was Jon finally petting Ghost.
Would’ve been nice to see Ghost and Nymeria reunited since the (living) Starks ended up surviving. Having the direwolves reunite and survive together the way their owners did would’ve been a poetic moment.
All in all, terrible finale to a terrible season. -37/10 would not recommend.
