This is just my point of view. I need to let it out.

I find it funny (not funny) and bizarre, that bar Taiwan, same-sex marriage is still not legal/recognised in many Asian countries compared to Western countries yet there's more shows/movies being produced with queer representation and they almost always never bury their gays. In fact, they almost always give them a happy ending. There's a formula to them that is refreshing because at the end of the series they do make you feel good (more often than not) [Side note: I love Asian dramas, too, because they tackle some serious shit but they also almost always have a happy ending or at least a mostly satisfying one and I'm a sucker for it]

Asian media are producing more LGBTQ+ shows are a bit closer to mainstream than what Western media does (e.g. fan meets, concerts, product endorsements/ads, etc - and they go across countries). Yes, there are issues (i.e. fan service) and they do take it OTT at times. But have you ever had to scream at an Asian TV show to make a same-sex couple canon for X number of seasons only for the carrot to be dangled in front of you but never get anything (and they probably killed off one of the same-sex pair in the end)? If you have, how many times have you done it compared to Western media(Looking at you Supernatural, Xena, Teen Wolf, 911 on Fox, etc.)

I'm not saying the BL/GL industry does not have its problems. It's far from perfect and it's got a lot to work on. But it's giving us something; in my opinion, in many ways, it giving/providing more queer representation and queer media.
