There are a lot of people who start creative projects with no business or financial plan, because "who cares, it isn't important, we'll figure that out later". And you can't let yourself become that person. Not because I'm a sneering finance bro who thinks your woke animated youtube series wont make money, but because if you don't you'll wind up financially exploiting your friends for years

Look, it's none of my business if you wanna work yourself to the bone for no money so you can make your dream project a reality. I think you shouldn't, but also let's be real that's basically a rite of passage for young creatives. But as soon as you start involving other people? You need a plan. You need to be able to compensate them for their time, and you need to have it in writing

For freelancers: I recommend getting yourself a copy of the Graphic Artists' Guild Handbook: Pricing and Ethical Guidelines for reference-- the newest one dropped last year (I have the 16th edition). It helps you figure out your pricing, how to create a contract for various projects (and you can access free PDFs of templates you can use to modify for your own projects)! It's a good place to start and refer to-- even colleagues who are decades in the business (and former Guild Members too) still use it.

El Hospital de Jesús Nazareno fue fundado en 1524 por Hernán Cortés y es considerado el hospital más antiguo de América. Es popularmente llamado el Hospital de Jesús. Cuenta la leyenda que el sitio fue elegido porque en él se encontraron por primera vez Hernán Cortés y Moctezuma II en 1519. En ese momento, era la cabecera de la calzada que conducía a Iztapalapa. El lugar era conocido entonces como Huitzillan, que significa junto al colibrí y hay un templo cercano dedicado a Huitzilopochtli, el colibrí zurdo. Fray Bartolomé de Olmedo fue el primer director y ha estado en funcionamiento como hospital desde 1524, aunque se dice que había otros dos hospitales funcionando al mismo tiempo. Gracias a que fue creado por Cortés como una institución secular, se salvó del destino de muchas otras instituciones eclesiásticas que desaparecieron durante la aprobación de las Leyes de Reforma en el siglo XIX. Originalmente conocido como el Hospital de la Purísima Concepción, a principios de la época colonial se conocía popularmente como el Hospital del Marqués. El nombre Hospital de Jesús surgió cuando la institución ganó en un sorteo entre hospitales, una imagen supuestamente milagrosa del Cristo Crucificado, donado por Juan Manuel de Solórzano. En la leyenda, la obra se atribuye a una mujer indígena, Petronila Jerónima, quien completó la escultura en 1663. El hospital fue renombrado en honor a la escultura cuando fue finalmente dedicada en 1665 como “Hospital de la Iglesia de Jesús de Nazareno” aunque en la actualidad la mayoría de la gente lo llama más sencillamente el Hospital de Jesús.
