@elquatrogrande
i think about this a lot
when someone calls me their friend my heart skips a beat itās like i won at being myself
important reminder that most people you follow online are significantly lamer than you think they are including me. and if you feel insecure comparing yourself to someone online: DON'T. theyre probably also lame and weird. most people on the internet are
reblog if you're also lame and weird.
undiagnosed autistic people will be like "I don't get upset when my routine changes though!!" and it's because they've built a set of if-then loops in their head to pick from one of 6 different strict routines and they do get incredibly upset when they're unable to keep to any of the 6 scripts. I'm john normal
This is called a fault tree. You will always know how to act if your fault tree captures all possible scenarios. In NASA Mission Control during mission critical events like landings there are huge binders with fault tree protocols, kind of like choose your own adventure books except youāre not the one making the choices, the universe is making them for you and youāre just trying to keep up.
The engineers who develop fault trees, I am told, often imagine new ways for their precious spacecraft to die (new branches on the fault trees) either while in the shower or lying awake at 3am, because human
Was just thinking about this the other day. Yeah I have a favorite seat on the bus (middle of the bus, near the back doors, slightly elevated, facing forward), but I donāt get upset if someone is already sitting there, I just pick one of my other favorite spots. Then I realized that most people probably donāt have a favorite bus seat, let alone a series of backup favorites.
ended up making the funniest possible two item goodwill purchase entirely by accident
"oh i'm just practicing"
Huh im still a beginner but this guys life line does uh it does not look good

there is nothing quite like asking a cat in a doorway āin or outā
The cat:
my mom warned me about these kinds of internet users
"[Y]our Harry Potter games are Cybertrucks" is such a good way to put it.
Justin posted the 1956 house he and his wife bought in Jasper, Indiana. It is a complete time capsule. Absolutely NOTHING has been updated or touched.Ā Ā
Everything is still here- look at the appliances. All original. This is not like the classy expensive updated mid century homes weāve seen before.Ā
The furniture has to be the original pieces and sets the previous owners bought.Ā
The wall hangings are aged.
This is an interesting piece, this bar.Ā
Look at the bathroom- pink fixtures.
Those lamps!
The master bath has a yellow tub and fixtures.
A 2nd bdm. Even the bedding is vintage.
And, this bath has blue Fixtures. Wow, I would definitely keep them.
More cool lamps and original furniture in the knotty pine family room.Ā
Wow, look at the built-ins in the office.
The lower floor.
The basement is cool- look at that floor! And, the TV. The bar is classic. I wonder if they were leaving any of this.
Off the rec room is a 2nd kitchen. A pink fridge!
And, thereās this room, too. Look at the stone wall.
for the love of old houses
Iām reblogging this just because itās great reference. Who knows if i ever get the chance to draw a fifties living room?
@teatotally ā please join me in whimpering with a strong need to go to there.
Wow, honestly this is the first time Iāve seen a pristine 50s house that made me go āOh THATāS why they made those choicesā??? Like, you usually only see old houses looking VERY worn-down and kinda sad, but this looks like we time-traveled into the past when it was new and tidy, and suddenly some of those choices that feel odd today make SENSE, because while they were new and loved, the now-odd furniture and appliance colors and whatnot look NICE. Itās still an āoutdatedā style but it doesnāt look āold.ā Very neat glimpse at history!
will be thinking about this probably for the rest of the week
"But how can you justify a player character with a (non-disinherited) noble background in a dungeon-crawling fantasy game" well, the most obvious approach is a fantasy setting whose nobility practices cognatic primogeniture where, instead of "first son inherits, second son goes into the military, third son becomes a priest", it's "first son inherits, second son goes into the military, third son becomes an adventurer". From the player's perspective, it handily explains why the title comes with little material support from the family; from the family's perspective, there's an unspoken understanding that most of the spare heirs will be eaten by a dragon (or whatever), thereby simplifying the inheritance situation, and the few survivors will become great assets.
(There is, of course, the possibility that a surviving third son, having grown powerful and understandably harbouring some slight resentment, may return, kill his elder brothers with dark magic, and take over the dynasty, but in practice this almost never happens.)
Alternatively, maybe it's a "only the most capable and worthy child may inherit the throne" kind of merit-based system, and to avoid all the heirs secretly stabbing each other to simply take out the competition, the head of the family sends them out into the world to become adventurers instead. Some might die, sure, but surely at least some of them will be successful.
And the resulting new ruler will have gained wisdom and strength of character from dealing with hardship on the road, will have travelled far and wide and met all kinds of different people from all the different walks of life, and will probably have learned a great deal of knowledge that they would've never encountered within the walls of the palace. It's a good system... If you disregard the couple noble kids that end up in a dragon's stomach every generation. š Pssh, details!
Saw someone online recently be genuinely annoyed that Achilles Achilles' Heel was in fact his heel. They were like "what a clichƩ!" And it took 3 separate people to make them understand that this is where the term originated.
So I LOVE language and also this kind of shit makes me hyperventilate and nearly fall back into the horrible classist addiction that is prescriptivism. Like I wanna clack peoples heads together like erasers to try to clean out the stupid dust. Iām gonna go breathe into a paper bag now.
