We love the idea that Lucien has been glamouring himself to hide his Day Court powers, especially while growing up in Autumn, for his own self-preservation. We wanted to commission an art piece that depicted his powers surfacing, and all the inner conflict and angst that must make him feel.

One of SJM’s old Pinterest board posts had artwork of a lady with a rose tattoo on her back. Of course this made us think of Elain. How maybe Elain would have a rose shaped bargain tattoo with her mate in future books.

DMONYART did an absolutely INCREDIBLE job! Elain looks positively gorgeous! We love her cute little smile and blush 🩷. Lucien looks insanely handsome. We love how he’s tracing Elain’s tattoo with such love and reverence.

Lucien saw Elain was starving herself.

Lucien was the one to say to get her out of that house.

Lucien was the one to say take her to a garden-somewhere she would love.

Lucien was the one who told them she needed sunshine.

Sure, he may not have immediately recognized Elain was a seer. But he sure in the fuck didn’t sit by for months and not bat an eyelash at Elain withering away.

Azriel didn’t figure out what was wrong with her. He only pointed out her powers. And even then—Lucien was the one to take her visions seriously and put faith in her. Just like Lucien has been the only one to credit Elain for killing Hybern.

No, Azriel does not see or understand Elain anymore than anyone else in the inner circle.

Lucien does though.

And it’s no coincidence that when Lucien came is when Elain started getting better.

Because he’s her mate. Something Az will never be. Just like he was the one to spend time with Papa Archeron. Something Az never did. Coincidence? I think not.

A reminder: If Elriel was written to be endgame and was as obvious as people scream it to be, there would not be this much pushback from TWO other prominent ships. Feysand was so obviously endgame that Feylins died out. Nessian was obvious from the second they met and their chemistry, even without needing their own POVs, translated strongly throughout the books. Elriel, despite the few significant scenes between them, read as flat and without chemistry because that is how SJM intended for them to read as.

I was once a casual reader—the ship war what brought me into doing analysis posts and videos—and even I could tell that they were a marketing tactic. The ship war is what has kept ACOTAR as popular as it is after Feysand’s POVs were removed; the love triangle and the uncertainty from the interviews is what is keeping profits and anticipation for the following books high. It is all about engagement in the “off-season.”

But some of ya'll aren't ready for that conversation...

Personally, I feel like it’s more Pro-Elain than the people who want Elain to stay tied with a man in the NC who lurks in shadows and does nothing else.

Wanting Elain to BE someone outside of a man is Pro Elain. Sarah said she’s a quite dreamer. It’s says in the books that she always wanted to travel the continent and see the gardens there. She is always associated with spring and the SC literally exists. She thrives in light, positivity, and social events. To me, that sound like someone who’s free spirited. She’s not supposed to be at one place for a certain length of time. And we know that Azriel would never take Elain along with him to spy because, canonically, he doesn’t want her in harms way. And he is always in harms way.

So what’s wrong with wanting Elain to leave the Night Court and find out who she truly is, when she literally wants that for herself too? 🤔
