Some Edie Cadash Facts
Edie loves telling people wild lies about how she got the scar over her left eye. In reality, it was done upon her request. The Dasher was showing increased attraction to her, and knowing he was a very vain man, Edie had her best friend Lantos inflict the scar to dissuade the Dasher from continuing his advances. It worked.
Edie is a lesbian, although she hasn’t had any lasting relationship experience.
Edie hates the Carta as an organization, but not necessarily the average person working within it. She understands that most of them, like herself, were born without much other options of survival. But Edie doesn’t see that as an excuse for the leaders to be a bunch of assholes who backstab each other and rage over even the smallest loss of profit.
Another reason Edie hates the Carta is of personal nature: Her parents were murdered by her uncle in a scheme to rise through the ranks. The first person Edie ever killed was that uncle in revenge, which at seventeen years old landed her in debt to the Dasher who helped cover this up. Before this, Edie had dreams of leaving the Carta’s shadow to become an architect. Those dreams were ruined, and instead she wound up as a smuggler.
Edie can best be described as agnostic, believing there’s something grander to the universe, but isn’t sure what that is. She figures there’s more important things to worry about than whether or not the Stone is real, or if the Maker exists, or whatever happens after death. She’d rather focus on what she’s doing and where she is in the moment. Becoming Inquisitor forces Edie to question those things more than she ever has before though, and Edie starts to lean more into Andrastianism, (largely influenced by others).
Edie is severely afraid of deepstalkers, finding them to be horrific little creatures.
Edie has the best tits in Thedas.

I just really think they should have let Varric’s friends come hang out with him at Skyhold
Okay, OP, I 100% agree with you. But also, if Merrill was allowed anywhere around Skyhold, she'd have clocked Solas' bullshit immediately.
I think the fact that the census shows that only 1.9% of dragon age fans are trans women stems both from the text itself (one of two canonical TMA characters in the games is a transmisogynistic caricature and both are fairly minor npcs) and from the fandom (I've seen blogs get hate mail for hcing Alistair as a trans woman, for example). The former obviously can't be changed (though we can change how we talk about the text and its transmisogyny when talking about trans representation in the series as a whole ofc) but I think in regards to the latter, DA fans have a responsibility to center & celebrate trans women and loudly & vocally oppose the not-insignificant transandrobro and terf presence both in this fandom and in the website as a whole.
