Another unpopular russingon opinion is that we need more fucked up Fingon. He is often depicted in the fandom as the more level-headed and emotionally wise one, and it's nice, but. I don't think we have any evidence of him being like that?(his personal philosophy is sound, but that's different). Maedhros(and the rest of feanorians for that matter) canonically worries, that Fëanor might kill himself, suggesting some level of psychological knowledge in their house. So I propose russingon becoming friends because Maedhros knows what adhd is and how to deal with it and Fingon feels seen and free in expressing himself for the first time.
This also makes their dynamics in Beleriand much more interesting, because Fingon's had his adhd thing going on since the very begining and suicidal tendencies joined in after Helcaraxë and Maedhros is fresh out of captivity, somewhat depressed and somewhat homicidal. And so they need to completely reinvent their relationship and their understanding of each other.
Last thing I wanted to say is that Maedhros' own suicidal tendencies start to show face after Fingon's death and become more and more apparent with time. Which adds to his personal tragedy because for the first time in his life he understands Fingon better than ever before(because his understanding this time comes from personal experience and not just praised noldorin scientific mindset) and Fingon is not there.
