Personality blurb: Renatus is calm and endlessly patient, always willing to give a helping hand and offer advice to those who ask. With his fellow Blood members, his personality shines more — making jokes and laughing easier. During missions, he's the first to initiate combat and will go off to fight Aragami on his own to lessen his teammate's burden, much to their chagrin. Though, the real question is: when is the last time he shared something about himself?

In reality, Renatus is hesitant to really express himself. All his feelings are surface level, bottling everything up to the point he doesn't remember the last time he allowed himself to really feel anything other than fear. He's afraid of his friends dying, of being vulnerable, and of anyone finding out just how scared and angry he really is.

Background blurb: His mother was always weakly, diagnosed with a chronic illness at a young age and never truly able to live life as she wanted. Countless medications and appointments, the thing she wanted most in life was to be a mother; to give someone the life she never got to have, even with Aragami running rampant.

When she was 20, she met Sui. From the moment they started talking, they knew they wanted to spend the rest of their lives together. Even after Vuokko told him how much care she would need, how it wasn't going to get any easier, it didn't deter him in the slightest. A year later, they married.

They lost count of how many doctors told her pregnancy would put too high a strain on her body. She did everything in her power to improve her health enough to be able to carry a baby to term, even if she only got worse afterwards. Finally, after countless weeks and months, one told her that her wish was possible.

But if one baby would put such strain on her, it would only get worse with two. If you do not give them the nutrients they need, they will take from you.

No matter how many times she was told she was having two girls, she always claimed she was having a boy and a girl.

On April 13th, 2055, at 8:07 pm, Ianthe is born. 4 hours later on April 14th, 12:03 am, Kassiopeia is born. Vuokko holds her children, cooing over how small they are and laughing with her husband.

An hour and a half later, she passes peacefully in her sleep.

Sui raises them in a shelter settled between two satellite bases. They're the only children there, so the first few years are a struggle until they're old enough to take care of themselves for short periods of time.

With Ianthe being the first born, Kassiopeia was born with a poor immune system and asthma. She was sick often, and had night terrors even more often.

 When the twins turn 11, their shelter is attacked by Aragami. Sui goes missing, and everyone else either dies, or leaves to other satellite bases. They're given no choice but to survive with just the two of them, stealing supplies and food from camps.

To combat the ever-growing sense of dread, they form an idol group called "Madly Malady" when they're 14. Being settled between bases, there's no shortage of trailers coming and going to watch and listen. They gain quite the fanbase, some claiming their popularity rivals that of Yuno Ashihara.

At 15, Kassiopeia first thinks "being a girl sucks and I do not like this". He hears about the "Fragging Gil" incident a year later, and his first thought upon seeing Gilbert is "wow, he's really hot. I wish I was also a hot guy". He settles on the name "Renatus", the name his mother had picked out.

With Aragami attacks increasing and their father still missing, his night terrors grow worse. He learns to muffle his panicked screams as to not worry Ianthe further. That, or he simply didn't sleep at all.

Even knowing it's mostly just propaganda, Renatus wanted to be a God Eater. He wanted to help people, to prevent others from going through the same pain he and his sister have. Ianthe was hesitant, but supported him wholeheartedly. She believed that he'd be "the best damn God Eater out there".

When he's 19, Renatus gets horrifically sick. No medicine, rations running low, but enough for one person. In the midst of a fevered haze, he hears Ianthe tell him that no matter what, he'll be okay and she loves him so much.

When he's the most lucid he's been all week, the house is empty. No lights, no sounds save for thunder in the distance. He searches around the area until he comes to a long-abandoned shed they'd hide in to have some alone time. The moment he steps in, he sees her. Swaying lightly in the breeze with a rope around her neck.

Everything blurs. Checking for a pulse, removing the rope, burying her with the lingering regret of "was there something I could have done to save her?"

Once the haze clears, he's sitting in Friar for his Aptitude Test.
