Did some scene redraws from The Mummy with Gale and my Tav Taranlas/Tarry since I’ve been rewatching the movie lately and always felt Tarry had a lot of characteristics that were similar to those of Eve in the movie (scholar gone adventurer).
In the post BG3 events in my Tarry story, she and Gale are professors at Blackstaff Academy but also adventurers who go off exploring to find relics and ancient scripts, which is a perfect way for them to pursue their academic careers while also get a chance to travel and adventure together. So I imagine they’d have a lot of moments where they get themselves into some dangerous situations. 😄
I also threw in a more cutesy sketch of a scene redraw (also from the same movie) where Gale is checking Tarry for injuries. 👀🤭💜 Hope you like them and be prepared, because I may have a few more scenes in mind. 👀
Imagine your Tav/Durge and their LI in matching outfits.

For a ranger and a wizard, their clothing style is very different, as you can imagine. However, Nimriel would make him wear chainmail from time to time when battles are tough. He has 12 STR for it, duuh. Not to mention, to me, full-body chainmail is very hawt. 😩 Also, I know that this chainmail is not accurate, let me live in my delulu. And no shoes because shoes ruin everything :3
Those who slay together stay together :3

Still obsessed with this VP esp when Odilia gets to wear her cultural Nyonya Kebaya attire for a gala or something be it in her home in Baldur’s Gate or her husband’s home in Waterdeep 🥹🥹
Thank you for the tag @kt-catt and @eliwyntorleth 💖
Get to know Emmy on a goofy level.
So, she likes to try and take her brothers' things that she thinks are neat. Don't worry, if she succeeds -- which she never does -- she has full intentions on giving their stuff back.
This is only her millionth attempt at taking Fanden's badass dagger.
Characters: Gale, Tara, Mirabella, Althea, Ian
Rating: Gen
Warnings: None
Notes: So here's the start of a few chapters without our dear Lia. She needs a bit of time to recover from her rejection and perhaps some other things 👀. But that's okay! Because this story is about Gale and all of his relationships, not just his love interest! Enjoy!

Gale was humming as he made breakfast. He was in such a great mood.
A wonderful evening with a good friend. She had been so kind and charming. And her pie? Absolutely phenomenal. When he saw Yrelia next, he would have to ask for the recipe. He hoped that once autumn was in Waterdeep, she would be interested in making apple pie. Was that rude to ask for a specific pie? Surely she wouldn't mind…
"Ah, Tara," Gale greeted as Tara flew into the room. She flew onto the counter and swished her tail. "How are you this morning?"
"Well," she replied. She stared at him silently for a moment before speaking again. "I assume you're satisfied with your dinner yesterday?"
"Very. Ah! And I see that you are no longer calling it a 'dinner date'! Thank you for the correction. It was simply a dinner between friends."
"Yes," she sighed out, "I certainly see that now. Far be it from me to expect you to be interested in such a nice woman."
"There's no need for sarcasm, Tara," he huffed. "Am I not allowed to have nice friends without the need to seek out romantic comfort?"
"Of course you are, Mister Dekarios," she sighed again. "Miss Rosewood seems as if she would be a wonderful friend."
He grinned. "I'm glad you agree." He turned from the stove and presented a sausage on a fork to her. "Besides, Yrelia deserves someone grand. She's a sweet thing, and deserves someone who earned that sweetness."
Tara slowly blinked before taking the sausage. "Are you implying…that she is too good for you?"
He didn't answer and then turned back to the stove. "No," he lied after a moment, "I am simply saying that she deserves someone who would care for all of her needs. I don't believe I could do that. Besides, I have no romantic feelings for her, so it's all moot."
"Of course, Mister Dekarios, you know yourself better than anyone else."
Gale finished cooking breakfast for Tara and himself. Nice sausages, some leftover sourdough toast with strawberry preserves, and a gooey fried egg. Hearty and a bit simple, but delicious either way, especially with his rich, brewed coffee with the right amount of sugar and cream.
He was filling up for a day at Mirabella's. He had an appointment with her for new robes and some repairs. A simple mending spell wasn't quite repairing all of his teaching robes to perfection. He knew that he was quite the scamp while he was an apprentice, but did these children really need to be so rowdy? He had been told more than once by his old professors that it was karma.
Which wasn't the first time he had been told similar things. Morena and Tara had both told him that when he had his own children, he would understand what it was like to have someone like him growing up. Every time he would tell them he had zero interest in raising his own children. He never understood why so many people were determined to convince him to have children. Why were children the default for married couples?! What of romance? Of travel? Of sleeping through the night in peace?! That was simply far too tempting than cleaning up the inevitable vomit from a child.
After eating, he dressed in light clothing. The temperature was starting to slowly drop, and the breezes were heavenly as he walked through the streets of Waterdeep. A casual purple linen shirt with silver buttons and a pair of purple linen trousers with a silver woven cotton belt. He pulled his growing hair into a bun. He accidentally brushed his hand against his earring. He stared at it in the mirror, thinking about Mystra.
He often wondered where he would be if the Orb incident had never happened. He would still be in a romance with Mystra, and he would still be chasing power. Godhood. Acceptance. He wouldn't be content the way he was now. He wouldn't be close with his mother or sister; he wouldn't be a professor at Blackstaff; he wouldn't have all of his friends. Hanzi, Jun, Mirabella, Allurea, Yrelia…he wouldn't have become close to any of them.
And that made Gale sad.
To think so many people wanted to be in his life, and he had so easily tossed these relationships aside for glory. His heart ached as he thought about such foolishness. He sighed. He wished he could write Velnora. He had the overwhelming urge to thank her again for all the work she put in to convince him to love his life and himself, both of which were still works in progress.
"Will you be joining me today, Tara?" Gale asked as he slipped on his shoes by the front door.
He heard the flapping of wings. Tara landed on his shoulder and then yawned. "I believe I will. It's always nice to visit Miss Mirabella."
He grinned and walked out of the tower. He made sure it was locked up tight. Despite the many, many wards around his tower, he was still uninterested in dealing with even an attempt by a thief to break into his home. All of his new artifacts from his adventure, Blackstaff, and even some gifts, were all precious to him. He used to have so many that he collected for the fun of it; then he had consumed every last one. Now he held those items close to his heart. He no longer tossed aside the Weave in any form, even simple trinkets with a single glow.
He walked to The Market, noting that the cooler weather was being enjoyed by many people. There were far more people in the streets; shopping, eating, relaxing. It was always wonderful when the weather was agreeable. He made a note to write Allurea—he still couldn't believe she had so easily changed the weather. How skilled she had become! He really should read her theses and notes.
He passed by Rosewood's, thinking he could at least wave to Yrelia through the window before his appointment, but the shop was dark, and the sign on the door had been flipped to "CLOSED". Well, she did say she was hunting that morning, and if he recalled, she typically didn't work on the days she hunted. Besides, he had just seen her the night prior, and it's not as if he would never see her again.
"Mira!" Gale called as he walked into Mirabella's shop. He had a wide grin on his face. He was just in such a good mood! He couldn't believe how good of a time he had with Yrelia the previous night. He couldn't wait to tell someone about it, and he knew that Mirabella would be the perfect person to tell, as she was their mutual friend!
"Gale," Mirabella said his name with a smile as she brushed past her velvet curtain leading into the back. "I see you're early for your appointment. That's unlike you."
He chuckled. "I suppose working at Blackstaff has taught me the importance of punctuality."
She giggled. "That's good," she said softly, and let out a very small sigh.
His enthusiasm died a bit, and concern grew. "Is everything alright, Mira?"
The gnome blinked and then grinned. "Oh, yes, darling. I had a bit of a long night. Some friends and I got together and had drinks late into the night," she chuckled. She quickly looked him up and down, as if to evaluate him. "How was your evening?" She motioned for him to follow her.
"It was lovely," he replied, his concern for Mirabella completely forgotten as he thought about dinner. "I had invited Yrelia Rosewood over for dinner, and I had a wonderful time." Mirabella didn't answer, and he took that as her way of saying to continue. He walked to the table in the back room, noting there were whiskey glasses on it. "She's a genuine joy to be around."
"She is," Mirabella agreed and walked to the table, collecting the whiskey glasses. "She's one of my closest friends, and I'm happy that you think of her so kindly." She motioned for him to sit at the table. "Would you like some tea?"
"Please," he said with a nod. He sat at the table in the small green velvet chair. She smiled at him and walked away to grab the tea. "You say that she is close to you. How did that come to be?"
"Oh, well," she cleared her throat. "Us merchants in the Market either become close or ignore each other. Yrelia is so kind; she tries to befriend everyone. It doesn't always work, but she tries all the same." She appeared again with a plate of small snacks. Cookies, small chocolates, and seeded crackers. "The tea will be ready soon."
"I find it hard to believe anyone would dislike her. She's always so…supportive."
"Hmph," Mirabella responded, clearly irritated. "You would think so."
Gale's brows rose. "Does she have people who find her distasteful?"
"She does, but that is not my story to tell. She is a complicated woman behind her sweet personality, and she will reveal that complexity when she is ready." She smiled. "I can tell she values your friendship. I'm glad."
A triumphant grin grew on his face.
Tara took that opportunity to fly from the front of the shop into the back. She landed on one of the mismatched chairs—a cream colored wood that had white upholstery with small printed pink roses. She sat at the table as if she were human, waiting patiently to be served in a restaurant. Gale heard Mirabella laugh and then walk to the table, presenting Tara with a can of packed sardines in olive oil.
Mirabella presented him with lemongrass tea. He complimented the cookies that she had given him; they were a butter cookie dipped in dark chocolate with a small candied orange peel. They were lovely. Tara happily ate her sardines and then flew up high for a nap.
Tailoring appointments were always long. They would sit down and drink tea, catching up since the last they had spoken. Then, after tea and snacks, Gale would tell Mirabella everything he wanted. She loved complimenting him on how detailed he was. He usually knew exactly what he wanted, very rarely asking her to surprise him. He presented her with his teaching robes, letting her know that since there was a tenday break for Blackstaff, he finally had time to get some proper repairs done on his robes.
Then he mentioned the big project. It was his first New Year's Revel party since his younger days. There was to be a grand ball. Everyone at Blackstaff was invited, naturally. The nobles enjoyed asking wizards for their simple spells and tricks. Gale was excited to go; it had been so long since he had been to a ball. Between being a Chosen, his lack of any real friends, and his relationship with Mystra, he wasn't exactly invited to such events.
"Oh, yes!" Mirabella clapped her hands. "That ball will be wonderful! There will be so many of us there. I will certainly make an enchanting ensemble for you, my Gale of Waterdeep."
He laughed. "Thank you, Mira. I assume you're going as well?"
"I am, with my friends. You saw them that night in the tavern. There's Gwen, the textile producer where I buy my materials from. She was the orc. Then there's Taress, our drow gemworker. She's the one who gives me the stones that are often in your robes. Finally, Dvren, the dwarf metalsmith. You've seen his intricate button work." She blinked. "And you know Yrelia."
He felt himself become excited. "Lia will be there?"
"She was invited by the Delafontaine matron," she said slowly, carefully. "She's invited every year."
"Oh, how exciting," he bubbled with joy. "I must speak with her about it when I see her next." He smiled brightly. "But that's for another time. Mira, let's go over what I'd like. First, it must be black and…"
*****
Gale yawned as he walked home. He had spent most of the day with Mirabella, and then treated himself to a nice steak dinner afterward. It had been a lovely day, and he had the rest of the evening to himself. Tara had decided that she would spend the evening elsewhere.
"Probably at my mother's," he grumbled. "Ah, well, I'm sure I will be hearing whatever it is they talk about soon." He stretched as he walked into the Sea Ward. He stopped as he passed by the street that would lead him to Cover Stories. He felt a temptation to go inside.
He found himself walking to the strangely white bookstore. He saw in the window that they had a copy of Throne with Immortality. That was an exceedingly rare find!
He practically rushed in, the clear doorbell ringing out. He could see Althea from behind the counter, holding what seemed to be a child. She looked over to him and grinned. "Gale," her soft voice said, "it's good to see you again. How can I help you?"
He walked to the counter and saw the child in her arms. He was young. No older than a year and a half. He had black hair and was quite pale, much like his mother. "It appears that you have a copy of Throne and Immortality. I'd love to purchase it."
"We can do that," he heard from afar. It was Ian. "Gale! Wonderful to see you! I see you're starting to become a regular."
Oh, gods. Gale clenched his teeth, making a note to visit Second Story the next chance he had. "Thank you," he said with a smile. "It's good to see you, as well."
Ian grinned at him. He was just as attractive as Althea. They were an incredibly attractive couple. Strange how these types always find each other. "The book is behind the counter," Ian said. "We kept it back here for safekeeping. Such a rare book is a target for petty thieves. Even here in the Sea Ward." He sighed. "It's quite expensive."
"The price doesn't matter. I can certainly pay."
"Oh, I didn't mean to imply you aren't well-off." Ian smiled nervously. "Only that many have come by and decided to pass."
"Trust me," Gale smirked. "When I have a book in my sights, nothing will come between us."
"Just the kind of guy I like," Ian said and smacked his back. "Althea, please, the book?"
Althea and Ian presented him with a pristine copy of the book. Gale hadn't felt this excited about something in so long. A mint-condition rare book! And Ian and Althea seemed like nice people. Sometimes nobles could be kind and not at all self-important.
They wrapped the book in a soft cloth for transport and then placed it into a wooden box for protection. He was thoroughly impressed; his apprehension about Cover Stories was starting to fade. Of course, it was nowhere near as wonderful as Second Story. Never! But he couldn't deny that he was pleased with the option of pristine rare books.
"Please, come by at any time," Althea smiled sweetly at him.
He felt himself smile back before leaving the shop with a happy hop. He couldn't wait to show this to his friends! He was meeting up with Han and Jun in two days, and he knew the two wizards would be quite happy to see this book.
He let out a breath, realizing how happy he was. A wonderful dinner with Yrelia, a long day chatting with Mirabella, a rare book in pristine condition, and in two days he would see his friends. He felt his eyes become misty with joy.
"I'm…finally happy," he whispered.
He quickly wiped his eyes and grinned at his situation. He started to walk home, ready for a glass of wine and a bubble bath. The perfect way to end his wonderful day.
Just me continuing my bullshit of playing the game and attempting to take pictures from my fic.
Chapter 16: The Spores
In which the gang defeats some duergar and get invited to a myconid celebration. They get blasted with some party spores, causing Gale and Wren to forget some very important details about the nature of Gale's orb and causing me to attempt sexiness in my writing for the first time since that one job I had where I had to write descriptions of male strip shows for a website.
Happy Sunday! What are you indulging in today, my mutuals?
Thank you to my dearest @kt-catt for inviting me to indulge. Go see her awesome Underdark pics of Wren and Gale here!
I’m going to be extra indulgent with a special post I am calling:
Kelwin Appreciation!
I love this guy. I definitely love him way more than Eliwyn does. I might even love him more than Gale.
So today I’m giving you all his bio and some VPs I’ve taken of my darling dawnbringer.
Name: Kelwin Fullthorne
Birthday: Tarsakh 1444 DR
Race: half-elf, wild
Class & Subclass: Light Cleric
Background: Soldier
Occupation: Cleric of Lathander
Background: Kelwin was born to Erich Fullthorne (human) and his wife Merethyl (a wild elf from the Misty Forest). The family lived in Erich’s hometown of Amphail until his unexpected death in 1450 DR.
After the passing of his father, Kelwin’s mother took him back to her small community in the Misty Forest. Wild elves are perhaps the most reclusive of all the Tel’Quess, and the people of Merethyl’s home were especially averse to half-elves. She and Kelwin were forced to live on the outskirts of the society as more or less outcasts. The toll became too much for his mother to bear, so after a year she returned to Amphail. Still broken from the death of Erich, she decided to retreat back into the seclusion of her home. So, she left Kelwin with his grandmother and returned to the forest.
Kelwin never heard from her again.
Despite the early hardships, his youth was a happy one. His grandmother doted on him and he helped care for her as she aged. When he was twelve she passed to The City of Judgement and Kelwin was looked after by his aunt and uncle. Being Lathanderian, they had a large family. Kelwin spent the next four years working alongside his aunt, uncle, and seven cousins on the horse farm owned by the noble Jhansczil family of Waterdeep. It is during this time that he grew in his faith, inspired and spirited by Lathander’s teachings of change and new beginnings.
At age sixteen, feeling as though he had become a burden to his poor relations, Kelwin left Amphail. He took up work, room, and board at Goldenfields, the vast farming abbey of Chauntea. He worked various jobs there, everything from a kitchen boy to a farmhand so as to earn his keep. Just after his 37th birthday a dawnmaster took up residence at the abbey and took on Kelwin as his dawn priest.
In 1485 DR Kelwin began his training as a dawnbringer at The Spires of the Morning in Waterdeep. He passed his training at the top of the class and was ordained in Mirtul of 1486. During this time, the Cult of the Dragon was gaining power across Faerûn. Allied forces were mustering to take on the cult, including the Order of the Gauntlet. Kelwin and his friend Zeb joined Ontharr Frume’s order of paladins and clerics immediately following their ordination and were sent to the surrounding lands of Elturgard.
For the next several months Kelwin and his company patrolled the lands, protecting the villages and towns there against any cult attacks. In Marpenoth of 1486 they were summoned to The Well of Dragons where they joined the armies of The Lord’s Alliance and other allies to fight against the cult. Following the victory, Kelwin remained with the Order and was sent to patrol the area between Greenest and Iriaebor.
It was during this time that he met a young woman named Cybille in Berdusk. He paid her court, and while he liked her very much he could not bring himself to ask her hand in marriage. One evening in Eleint of 1487, while he was on leave from his duties with the Order, he finally ended his relationship with Cybille. As he was returning to his inn he was set upon by a dark and brutish force. He was knocked unconscious, and when he awoke he found himself caged in the lair of a hag.
Kelwin’s story continues in Shores of Will!
Kelwin is also a singer! I imagine his voice sounding something like this:
