idk how strange this message is, but i hope it makes you feel something good. i've been reading your fanfic (You can almost see the strings) about four times, i feel completely in love with and drawn to the theme; it's truly the most beautiful thing i've read in the fandom these past few months, sometimes i create scenarios in my head from the fanfic itself because i'm really enjoying it. your work is beautiful, i hope you keep it up.

seeing dan go from just cringing and yelling at his younger self, genuinely hating to watch old footage to seeing him react with such love and softness for his little self is everything to me. seeing the softness he has for baby dan, no matter how cringe he still may find himself, is just so lovely!! i feel like so many times in the past, dan just wanted to go back and smack his old self in videos. now, he looks at himself with such a softness and love and i just adore that!

i think a lot about dan’s journey over the last like decade like outside of his relationship with phil (i mean as much as you can because his journey even just as an individual person has been heavily influenced and maybe even at times driven by his relationship with phil). but like in terms of his self image more broader than his sexuality (again as much as it can be as it’s all connected) and how he talks about his past self. how he watches him. and it just makes me so happy and proud and emotional that he seems so much more visibly comfortable with and fond of his younger self. more compassionate and kind and loving. wahhh ;__;

Sometimes Phil feels the mattress dip in the middle of the night, and he keeps still, afraid to scare him off. Other times, he wakes to the other side of the bed empty, and he doesn't remember Dan coming in at all.    Part of him understands the reasons why. Even here, in their own bed, the idea of lying down beside each other feels like stepping into a spotlight. Knowing the reasons doesn’t make it hurt any less.

"Has it occurred to you,” older Dan says from the other side of the bed, “that I'm just happy to see Phil?" Dan glares back. "Has it occurred to you to leave?" "Not really, no." Even as he says it, Phil can see something soft in older Dan's face, a familiar warmth underneath the teasing. Older Dan catches him looking and holds his gaze for a second. Then, his eyes travel slowly down Phil's bare chest. Phil swallows.  Beside him, his Dan lets out a sharp breath. “Oh my god.”
