I had a dream one time where I wasn't allowed to use any physical magic because I didn't have a license, which I would need to go to magic school for, which I couldn't afford because I wasn't from a mage family (also I couldn't have been more than 11 in the dream)

Anyway the "no physical magic" rule was STUPID because there wasn't really any magic that could be classified as non-physical

Anyway I had been practicing in my free-time because like. Who's gonna get me. The magic cops? Anyway something caught on fire and a magic cop showed up. He couldn't have been more than like 13

He was like "hey. Do you have a license for that" so I was just like "I mean fire doesn't have mass so... don't arrest me?" so he let me go with a warning

Anyway l went back to working on my project, which was an illusion of a dog I'd been trying to finish. I didn't know it yet, but I was so desperate to do magic without getting arrested that I literally invented illusion magic.

It worked by "painting" the air with magic, changing the way light refracted off of it to give it color and shape

That magic cop was watching me "paint" the dog, but it got windy, distorting the illusion. Which stank. Because I had been working on it for so long. But apparently it was realistic enough that he really thought there was a dog there, and I was just petting it until the wind went and messed it all up

At that point he completely dropped his guard, just amazed and curious as to how I did it, so I told him. He was also impressed with how realistic it looked for something I had just been painting in the air

Right before the dream ended, he told me he might be able to sneak me into the entrance exam for the school he was going to, and that he knew I'd do so well they'd HAVE to let me in
