As a lover of buff women, a trope I haaaate in fantasy is magically strong woman is still delicate and Not Buff At All. Sometimes it's explained away with magic and I kind of thought that was the deal with Vin. She's always burning pewter so maybe she can't build muscle? (dumb reasoning so I imagine her at least super toned)

BUT THEN in hero of ages it's explicitly stated that Elend now has a warrior's body and had to get his clothes refitted because he's buff now. But at every turn Sanderson has to comment on how TINY and SLIM and PETITE Vin is and I won't stand for it

As someone who is (still) figuring out gender vs gender presentation, Vin's struggle to find who she is in the world and how her clothing choice affects that is very relatable. I hope it concludes in a satisfying way.

I love women in pants but I also love women who want to be feminine finding that balance. Fighting in dresses is cool as hell is what I'm saying.

Reading the Mistborn trilogy for the first time and my 2 friends who have read it, read it a long time ago and we don't text often so I think I must scream into the tumblr void

Currently on Well of Ascension and loving it. I could change my mind but the first Zane POV made me love his character. Just... every damn person he meets, God says "Kill him." Without fail. And he just has to ignore this. It's not funny haha but it's funny in a way that I just get a kick out of reading, knowing this mysterious figure is an edgy troubled young adult. I feel like he's a better version of that dipshit from Philip Pullman's The Secret Commonwealth/Rose Field (books that DON'T EXIST because they suck ass).

Anyway. More to come.

What can we say about this project? What a time! This was our first underwater photoshoot and it was a phenomenal experience. Working with Solita Photgraphy was incredible. She was so funny and kind and guided us through everything. Not only did she bring the story to life but she also left our pool as a friend. Please check out her work!

We kept in constant contact with Venessa from the very beginning of this project (When we were literally picking fabric for Baz’s tail). Thank you for all of your help and encouragement. We loved your story and were honored to re-create it in real time. Water really adds a level of romance to everything. We were floating yes but at times it really felt more like a waltz 💕

I’m out of words to describe the beauty of this photoshoot (though not out of tears, it seems). Ai, Blue, and Solita have honored the hell out of me with this breathtaking cosplay, and seeing the finished photos has been such a bright spot in the midst of this difficult September. I can’t stop looking at it because, I still can’t really believe my eyes.

Love that the cover synopsis of Harrow the Ninth is like 'they're back 😍 and GAYER than ever 😘' and this is referring to Harrow vomiting profusely at the mention of her ex-situationship, hallucinating the mysterious girl corpse she's been in love with since age 10, and whatever psychological toxic horror is occurring with Ianthe. Need I mention the brain surgery

the removal of all mentions of the crows ages from the dregs editions is genuinely one of the worst choices leigh bardugo has ever made. the youth of every character is so crucial to their stories.

kaz is not an angry adult man who can’t let go of a grudge, he’s a teenager who lost his brother only a few years ago who’s still grieving, but is still naive enough to believe that fathers must love their sons.

inej is not a strong adult woman, she is a child still, forced to grow up too fast and fend for herself. her optimism despite the shitty hand fate dealt her has so much to do with her youth.

jesper is not an adult man who can’t control himself. he is young and reckless and grieving his mother and suppressing one of the most important parts of himself.

wylan isn’t a grown man too sheltered to leave his fathers house despite being well past the age he should’ve left by. he was sixteen when his father tried to kill him the first time, young and still hopeful that his father must love him enough to send him to school to make music, the one thing he truly loves.

and nina and matthias were carefully groomed by their countries to maintain their biases from a young age, but they are still young enough to change.

and kuwei?? a literal child being held captive by the fjerdan government for the actions of his father, frightened and too intelligent.

it infuriates me to strip these characters of their youth when their age is so tightly woven into their personalities and character arcs.
