do you ever have periods where your entire soul is like i cannot take on new narratives. i keep thinking there are all these shows i would totally be up for watching but i just cannot take on a whole narrative right now with new characters and new worlds and…
I have whole years like that. Especially if I’m stuck deep into a story I’m writing. Sorry no room in my head for ANY other media.
Yes! It’s called mental fatigue and it happens mostly after either 1) a major trauma to the nervous system, which can be physical or emotional or 2) sustained periods of stress, generally associated with heavy cognitive work. Basically, anything going into your brain feels like too much, whether it’s just a book/TV show, conversation with someone or even being in a loud and busy place.
It usually comes with a lack of focus, memory loss, irritability and a need for long periods of ‘recovery time’ so… yeah
Give yourself a break, your brain’s already operating at full capacity

George Floyd was killed by an officer while being handcuffed. He was PLEADING for breath.
A black man asked a woman to put her dog on a leash. The woman then threatened to call the cops on HIM and accuse him of threatening her.
A white pastor claimed two black men kidnapped him to cover up the fact that he was in the hotel room because he was cheating on his wife.
A white woman drowned her nine-year-old son with autism, and said a black man had done it.
Regis Korchinski Paquet was shoved off the balcony by an officer. She died.
Tony McDade, a transgender man, was shot and killed by an officer.
These are all under 72 hours. 3 days. Now, realize what happens in a month.
I feel like I’ve made this very clear on my blog but fuck the police. Fuck your cop daddy, fuck your cop uncle, fuck your cop sister, and fuck your cop characters. All cops are evil and participate in a system of violence and murder to protect white supremacy and wealth. There are no good cops.
Don’t talk to me about Brooklyn 99, I ain’t gonna hold your hand like a fucking child’s cut that shit out. Stop supporting propaganda because they fed you a gay character what the fuck is wrong with yall.
black communities have been witnessing executions like the one that happened to George Floyd throughout generations of oppression. this is terrorism, and it is not the burden of these communities to demand change. so, white people. how can we show up to support our black communities during this time?
1. call the mayor of Minneapolis, Jacob Frey: (612) 673-2100 and the DA: (612) 348-5550. demand the prosecution of all of the officers involved in the murder of George Floyd, including Derek Chauvin (badge 1087) and Tou Thao (badge 7162).
2. text “Floyd” to 55156 and demand that the officers in charge of George Floyd’s death be charged with murder.
3. black people are asking that we STOP sharing the video of George Floyd’s death. we do not need to witness a murder in order to care about it. cruelty like this exists and it is REAL. period.
George Floyd was face down on the ground with a grown man’s knee in the back of his neck, begging them to let him breathe. the officer’s knee remained there even after losing consciousness. the officer continued to kill him. no one deserves a death of that manner and we should all be outraged. to be black in the U.S. should not be a death sentence.

I see #MidnightSun trending on Twitter, and as a recovering Twilight fan myself, I just want to urge fans to consider making a donation to support the Quileute Tribe’s Move to Higher Ground Project: a project dedicated to moving the community from a tsunami disaster zone at the edge of the Pacific Ocean to a safer, better and higher ground. –and also to support other causes that directly benefit Native people such as the Navajo Hopi Covid Relief Fund. https://www.gofundme.com/f/NHFC19Relief As we speak, the Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe is fighting against disestablishment by the Trump administration- you can learn more about how to help on their website and this great article in Teen Vogue: Native Tribe’s Rights to Permanent Homelands Are at Risk. As someone who LOVED the Twilight series, read fanfic, made fanart, and will most definitely have a raucous, drunken read-aloud party of Edward’s inner monologue if Midnight Sun does actually drop… I think it is so important to never erase that Twilight perpetuates racist and othering ideas about Indigenous people, and the series’ success did not benefit the Quileute Tribe monetarily while SMeyer and the franchise rocketed to mega-success, fame, and wealth. There’s a lot of talk about the series’ misogyny, which is important, but I think that in 2020, anybody who’s White and who’s still participating in the fandom should centralize critiques of the series’ racism, learn about the issues, and more than that, should back that up with funds and material support.
Truth vs. Twilight
In collaboration with the Quileute Tribe, this site seeks to inform Twilight fans, parents, teachers, and others about the real Quileute culture, which indeed has a wolf origin story, a historic relationship with the wolf as demonstrated in songs, stories, and various art forms, as well as a modern, multi-dimensional community with a sophisticated governance system. We also hope to offer a counter narrative to The Twilight Saga’s stereotypical representations of race, class, and gender, and offer resources for a more meaningful understanding of Native American life and cultures.
More from this website:
Misconceptions and Appropriations from Twilight: Their community gets fucking NOTHING from the Twilight Franchise, despite Stephenie Meyer using their name to abandon as one of the major plot points.
Racial and Class Stereotypes in Twilight: How Stephenie Meyer reinforces racist and classcist dynamics in her stereotypical depictions
Cultural Theft in Twilight: Wherein a white woman profits from a Native American community and STILL can’t be bothered to do basic research.
