i personally love knowing a little field care, but not enough. knowing a tourniquet will stop major bleeding, not knowing having one for too long will cost a limb. knowing one shouldn’t sleep with a concussion, especially when you don’t know how bad it is, but not actually knowing how to fix it. just underinformed field care my beloved.

Favourite thing: When a character finds out just how badly someone they care about has suffered and you can see the immediate shift from shock/horror into a fierce, protective anger.
Especially:
The initial look of shock turns to horror. Then the full weight of what they’ve discovered hits them - their friend has been hurt. Someone has hurt them.
Their eyes narrow. Fury burns in their eyes, absolute unforgiving.
“Who did this to you?”
whumpee who dealt with torture/trauma related to drowning or water (waterboarding, having their head held underwater, put in a glass tank with rising water, etc) has nightmares about their experiences. during these nightmares, whumpee instinctively holds their breath. they wake up from these gasping for air with a pounding heart. the first time caretaker sees whumpee as they're having one of these nightmares, they take in the sight of them laying there not breathing and immediately freak out, and once whumpee wakes up they have to do a bit of caretaking themselves by comforting and reassuring the caretaker.
Whumpee collapsing right into caretakers chest. They’re both exhausted and trembling, threatening to buckle with every last tick of energy. Caretaker quickly hooks their arms around their waist before they both slink to the floor.Â
“Shh, I’m here. Rest now. “

 “Do you reckon you can carry him?"  “You’re kidding right? Have you seen the size of him?” “Then- I don’t know what else to do. We can’t just leave him here.” “All right, fine, I’ll try to lift him. Okay, yep. He’s definitely as heavy as he looks.”
“Before you lecture me for getting out of bed, I managed to walk all the way over here without falling over.” “Am I supposed to be impressed?” “You should be. Why are you looking at me like that?” “There’s blood on your shirt. Looks like you just tore open your stitches.”
Whump words TAT: I imagine this as two characters who are both the stoic type who don’t show their emotions or care for others very openly. Blunt comfort that isn’t exactly comforting or loving. One of them notices that the other is quietly panicking, maybe about to get lost in painful memories or their worst fears. They put their hand on the other’s shoulder, look in their eyes & just say “hey. You’re fine. You’re ok right now.” And the other character gives a shaky nod and takes a deep breath.
I'll admit, it can give me instant whumperflies if done well! I like to put this in my fics all the time.

The whumpee trying to calm themselves: “Come on, you’re alright. You’re alright. Stop shaking like an idiot.”
Hello..., any ideas for why would a whumpee need to be under caretaker's care for prolonged period of time? I need... To force them to bond... for found family reasons... thabk u for help (if u can't that's okay <3)
Heya :) Thanks for the ask!
There are a few ways you can go about this.
- Whumpee's injuries are too severe to leave Caretaker.
Here are some starting points for you.
Traumatic Brain injuries.
Spine and Back injuries.
Shoulder, Knee, Ankle injuries: Especially because at first they might not seem as serious, they can get worse and take a longer time to heal if Whumpee overworked their body before they are healed.
Fractured or Broken bones.
Here's some time periods of healing times for different parts of the body: [link]
- Whumpee's injuries keep getting worse because they push themselves too hard.
- Some mental illnesses can also seriously affect whumpee's ability to function in daily lives (depression, anxiety, PTSD, etc.)
- They are both stuck in the same place for a long time. This can evolve into mutual caretaking.
- Whumpee has no home or any other person to go to, and no way to find another place to stay that is safe for them.
- Whumpee is being hunted and it's not safe for them to go out, even when they have healed.
- They are both in hiding.

Near Death TAT: this is an excerpt from story idea I had, don’t know if it’s gonna become an actual story yet but here we go:
Next thing he remembered was flying, lights on the ceiling racing past overhead. There was the slam of something behind and in front of him along with the rush of foot steps and a quick repetitive high pitched tone. There was an intense burn all through his chest. He gasped for air but none came, just this suffocating syrup like feeling and a sickening metallic taste swallowing him from the inside. Figures of what he assumed were doctors swarmed him. He tried to lift his head but it was too heavy. His eyes started glassing over and it was going dark. Above all the chaos he could barely make out one thing : “ …losing him” - empathetic-whumper

Character A and Whumpee were stranded somewhere when Whumpee got badly wounded. Character A has been carrying Whumpee, walking for miles and miles seeking help. Whumpee stopped responding to them hours ago but Character A refused to stop walking, knowing that the second they stopped it was all over. Soon the last of the light begins to fade and Character A succumbs to exhaustion, collapsing to the ground still cradling Whumpee in their arms.
