I don’t know how people haven’t noticed but jaime and brienne are literally one of the biggest stereotypical tropes, and no i’m not talking about small guy x buff gf. they are the 40 yo dude having a midlife crisis x manic pixie dream girl. yes i will elaborate.

jaime is I believe 30 something when he meets brienne? nearing 40? he has ‘broken up’ with his sister who’s been manipulating him from the minute they were born and whom he has devoted quite literally his entire life to, he’s lost his right hand so he’s not even able to fight anymore when he used to literally be known as the most naturally gifted swordsman in history- he’s going through it, right? and he has no idea who he is now, because he’s lost the two things that defined him: cercei, and his sword. and here comes brienne, who’s like 18 and still believes the world is in black white and there’s always a clear distinction between good and bad and you should always be doing good and blah blah and she fking LOATHES jaime lol, she thinks of him as the kingslayer, oathbreaker, man without honour- and it’s jaime that ultimately breaks it to her (by revealing what truly happened with aerys) that the world is shit, all those oaths you’re meant to take don’t mean jack, people are awful, life sucks etc etc. and this is quite a shock to honourable, naive brienne of course, so like her worldview starts expanding, her judgement is not so harsh and simplistic. and jaime on the other hand, he’s getting bodily dragged out of depression by this ugly stupid teenage girl (his words not mine) and somehow he actually does become a better person along the way. they are the ying and the yang: jaime gave her the old man perspective and broke it to her that the world isn’t all good and easy and 90% of the time it’s just one big grey area, and brienne gave him back that fresh youthful outlook on life that he had when he was 15 and wanted to be a knight like ser arthur dayne.

so yeah. depressed man having a midlife crisis and his manic pixie dream girl for the win
