VUUR announce their debut album release and pre-order

Anneke van Giersbergen´s new progressive metal band VUUR will release a long-awaited debut album on October 20th. “In This Moment We Are Free - Cities” tells stories of 11 cities all over the world, such as Paris, London, Berlin, Helsinki, San Francisco, and Rio.

“In This Moment We Are Free - Cities” was produced by Joost van den Broek, who was also involved in the writing process. Other co-writing partners are Mark Holcomb of Periphery, Esa Holopainen  of Amorphis, Daniel Cardoso of Anathema, and both VUUR guitarists - Jord Otto and Ferry Duijsens.   

Anneke says:  "The lyrical themes of this album revolve around cities and freedom. Exposure to big cities can be overwhelming and you can feel engulfed by everything around you. At the same time it’s easy to be a stranger in a big city and for me that brings out a feeling of freedom as well. This past year I’ve thought a lot about the virtues of rural versus urban life, since me and my family are moving back to the city. It’s very exciting, but at the same time I know that sense of urban solitude from past experiences. The cover artwork represents this duality.”

Ruud Jolie, a guitar player for Within Temptation and Maiden UniteD (the acoustic Iron Madein band), presents a new song from his side project For All We Know. “We Are The Light” is the first single taken from the project´s second studio album “Take Me Home”. The song features guest vocals by the Dutch singer Anneke van Giersbergen. “Take Me Home” comes out September 8th.

There´s a new Eluveitie material. “Lvgvs” is the name of the new song which comes with a video clip. Eluveitie´s second acoustic album, a follow-up to Evocation released 8 years ago, is titled “Evocation II - Pantheon”. This is the first studio album after the lineup changes in 2016, with Fabienne Erni on vocal duties. The release date is set for August 18th.

Masters of Rock 2017 review - The Charm The Fury

Who: The Charm The Fury @ Masters of Rock festival Where: Vizovice, Czech Republic When: July 13th, 2017

This years´ edition of Masters of Rock was rich in female fronted metal bands. There were five of them I was super excited for, starting on Thursday with the Czech live premiere of the Amsterdam based metalcore quintet The Charm The Fury. The band played early that day, being only the third act to play the festival, but it didn´t change the fact that many people came to see them and had fun watching the charming yet furious Caroline Westendorp with her bandmates. They released their second album called The Sick, Dumb & Happy earlier this year and played mainly songs taken from this record. It all started with a banger Weaponized which got the crowd in the right mood for more heavy, and energetic tracks. Energy is what characterizes the band perfectly. Caroline is not only a skilled and flawless singer but also a great leader who knows how to entertain an audience. It´s song like Echoes where she makes people involved in the show by singing simple eh eh eeh. To represent their earlier days, Colorblind was played, closing an intense show with Carte Blanche. The band solo is worth mentioning as well. Famous Metallica riffs accompanied by crazy moshing in the crowd fit the set perfectly. These new songs are kicking ass. It´s so easy to get lost in space and time, moving to the rhythm and banging your head together with this lively band on stage. There´s a bright future ahead for The Charm The Fury!

Hollywood Undead have dropped a new single and released a video clip for it, including some disturbing images. “California Dreaming” is taken from the upcoming album called simply “V”. It comes out October 27th, 2017 with these following 14 tracks ready to be heard:

Another news is the absence of Da Kurlzz in the video. Moreover, he´s not mentioned at the beginning of the song when band member´s names are said. Rumor has it that he´s no longer a member of Hollywood Undead because of inner conflict with the band. There is no official statement available at the moment.

Check out this video of Evanescence performing “What You Want” at Rock for People festival in the Czech Republic. The video was recorded by a metalshop.cz team on July 6, 2017. The hit song comes from the band´s third eponymous album released in 2011 with the official video clip counting over 46 million views on youtube.

► The Agonist have released new music video for “The Raven Eyes”. This emotion filled dark acoustic song comes from their recent album “Five” released last year. 

The band comments:  "Writing this was a departure for Vicky and I but it may have been one of the most rewarding as songwriters. It allowed us to explore sounds and emotions we've always wanted to but could never quite get to in a metal setting. Also, working with Igor Khoroshev (Yes) really helped bring out the full depth of Vicky's piano and string arrangements. The lyrics were originally inspired by stories of the renaissance plague doctors. FTB Visuals was able to take these themes and create a modern world storyline with an equally dark overtone that captured the painful emotions in the song."
