Yes yes yes!! Although…. I got so caught up in messing around with a new brush and colour planes that I missed the waist part and Jimmy is instead going straight for that chest grab. I hope that still suffices…. Whoopsie… I promise next time it’ll be the waist!

Among the many things that I love about mouthwashing is the way it handles Swansea’s alcoholism. Gun to his head, the thing that he didn’t want to die before getting off his chest was that he was happier before he got sober, and that none of the achievements in his sober life felt as good as he expected them to. His alcoholic days were the best of his life, and he says this like a confession, like it was a terrible weight on him. I feel like it’s easy to fall victim to the fallacy of treating drugs as the whole problem, rather than a self destructive solution to another completely separate problem. Swansea effectively stopped self-medicating and replaced it with nothing better. He got help to quit but not to find out why he drank in the first place. So he could drop the physical dependence, but he could never lose the need for whatever alcohol did for him. I just imagine him growing older with this gnawing feeling of dread, knowing that he was doing the right thing, and simultaneously knowing it felt worse, and wondering what it even means to do the right thing, and why he was doing it in the first place. That’ll make you bitter. Swansea is such a tragic character I love him
