TLDR: I don't tag consistently and can't. No aid solicitations or urgent news (except sometimes funny news).
I write image IDs as I can, they're under #described; you can request particular ones (especially please if you're an artist to put as ALT text; no credit needed!). No promises of speed.
I love cheer-reading!! and talking infinitely about shared interests; please g-d indulge me. List of fandoms and beloved shows below.
Enter at your own risk. Be kind and I will be kind to you.
My jame is Jay, or remaining jjay if that's how you got to know me; and on AO3 my handle is endrega_Turtlesse.
Icon by the wonderful @difeisheng & header is my screenshot.
I don't tag things most of the time, I have no energy for it. Requests to tag things aren't going to be fulfilled. I do try to tag spoilers with new shows but it's inconsistent at best, so step within with that knowledge.
Inconsistently doing image ID-ing, as my energy happens to be. Feel free to request an ID on any post, your own or not - I don't promise to be quick, but I promise I will do it. Artist mutuals, this is for you! I'd love for our shared fandoms to be a haven for people who for whatever reason use screen readers —and anyone with shitty internet.
(As for ALT text vs. image ID, from what I know from someone who uses them, screen readers deal with ALT text much more smoothly.)
And if you have insight on writing IDs better, I'd love to hear from you so long as you're kind, especially if you have lived experience!
Any art I've posted is under #my art, and any writing under #my fic or #my writing, though these days I rarely post what I made. If you're curious, I'm happy to share with you, but the utter silence is just painful.
I block and unfollow freely and don't apologise. I'm curating my own playhouse! You have yours! I love my social group here and I intend to keep it so; you should too!
I love cheer-reading stories, both of a fandom I'm in or original! (If you ask me to cheer-read you're doing me a favour!) Once again the caveat of energy, but if you want someone to yell at you excitedly, I'm raising my hand!! I love yelling excitedly! And not to brag, but I am very good at it. (<- bragging)
If you'd like to just chat, my DMs and asks are both open! I love hearing from other people. (I know people are shy, but here's your blanket permission!) I'm open to any and all questions & conversation starters, I might just tell you I won't answer it - but you can't offend me with any of it. Questions and attempts to learn are good, whatever the topic of it is.
A non-exhaustive list of my fandoms, of which I am entirely insane:
Mysterious Lotus Casebook;
Word of Honor, & Faraway Wanderer & Qi Ye;
Fangs of Fortune;
The Untamed;
Spirealm; &
the sleeper agent that is Marvel.
A non-exhaustive list of other shows and topics I love to talk about:
Anything and everything that relates even slightly to history!!!! Just prepare that I will infodump on you ;D
DnD in general omg. Tell me about your characters or your campaign or your mechanical character concepts or anything else at all!! My DMs are open for any and all DnD related shenanigans and infodumping, pleeease. I will be so unhinged with you I promise.
Shows & books that I have watched / read:
Leverage, Leverage: Redemption, & Almost Paradise (S1 for now);
Dimension 20 —absolute favourite is Escape from the Bloodkeep, but I adore deeply almost all seasons (all regular ones, most short ones) —& CritRole Campaigns 2 & 4;
Count of Monte Cristo, & works of Jules Verne & of Rejtő Jenő;
Halfway through but loving it: Vengeance of An, Chasing Jade; &
Have not finished but am obsessed: Love Between Fairy and Devil.
Things I'm not interested in, in any form or shape:
Please do not tag me, send me a post or ask, or DM me about the following, because I will ignore it, & block & report you as spam. As a reminder, this is my own playhouse:
World and urgent news except for tumblr meltdowns, and where it pertains directly to my life (if you're not sure, assume it doesn't);
Mutual-aid, crowdfunding, etc., requests in any form;
Any conversations about the works of the chief transphobe of the UK. Leave me alone. Let her sink to irrelevance. Forget her on purpose. Hate only makes her stronger. (Politics, fund-raising.) If you don't know who I'm talking about, good. Let it remain so. The strongest way to fight in the modern mediascape is with irrelevance; &
Christianity. If we're mutuals and you want to talk about your life I'm absolutely glad to, but I'm not interested in anything beyond that.
(If you need to understand the logic for treating such as bots: I post or reblog none of these topics. There is literally no reason for a human person to seek me out regarding them. If you don't want to be treated like a bot, don't act like one and we'll be grand. I don't expect this to be a problem, but then, I've blocked all blogs who sent me such things.)
Y'know, I'm kinda surprised I haven't seen Jack Chains more in fantasy tbh, like it's a really interesting and low budget armor style, I'm legit surprised I've almost never seen it in media
Actually kind of! It's built with a very interesting principle behind it and I'm gonna explain it below because it's neat
So, say you've got a sword or axe or something and are fighting some guy who can't afford a full suit of armor, and like someone who thinks it's a good idea to protect their brain from harm, they go into battle with a real good helmet, but don't have enough money for a full breastplate
So, obviously, this guy's helmet is solid, well-built, and strong. You're absolutely not getting through that with anything short of a mace or warhammer, which you forgot at home or something. So, you want to instead throw some cuts at their torso and arms, since if you can't get at their brain or throat, the entire torso is a pretty good target, and without arms your opponent will have a much harder time both hitting you with their weapons and shielding that torso of theirs
So you start throwing cuts, probably like so, since these are usually the most common, instinctive, and usually efficient cuts to throw (or a rough MS Paint approximation of them lol)
Normally, on someone unarmored, those'd do a lot of damage! You'd probably even win the fight!
However, with even something as small as these weird little guys on, it just sort of...
Obviously these things are like, clearly less effective than most styles of armor, doing little to protect against things like thrusts or trebuchets, but even with as minimal as they are, the humble Jack Chains are bizarrely more effective than one would think just by looking at them!
They work because they close off the most common angles of attack, essentially trying to get the maximum value out of minimum materials. Despite their rarity in media they were pretty common, mostly because of their low cost, but also because they did their jobs surprisingly adequately
In a weird way, it kind of reminds me about that one post about army planes, actually
[First 4 images show a string of armour down people's arms. There's a shoulder plate, an elbow plate, and a strip on both upper are and forearm, all linked together with loops. They're over top padded tunics.
The next image is tags saying, "#this is like bikini mail for arms #i love it".
The next three images show a silhouette with a fancy helmet but no other armour. The second one has red lines through his arms into his torso. The third shows how the thin strips of metal are blocking those lines, with a fourth image that shows a close up of the tiny bit of metal stopping a sword and labeled, "blocked lol".
The final image shows a diagram of a plane with a whole bunch of red spots. These mark places where a plane was shot and was still able to limp back to base. The original post with this image talked about how people originally wanted to strengthen the areas of the plane with the most red marks, until someone pointed out that the areas with NO marks are the spots that meant the plane DIDN'T come home.
If you guys don't start behaving I'm going to turn off reblogs for this post. This post is about launching matchbox cars into your wall at high enough speeds to lodge them there. Nobody cares about how strong the walls in your house are, and I'm suddenly learning that a lot of people on this webbed site don't know what drywall is, but none of that matters.
The only thing that matters is shoot cars into your wall.
Love every single one of these eggs. No yeah of course it's still okay to write your vampire story or whatever, even if a thousand people have done it before you. Your art will still be uniquely yours and people will find something fresh in your perspective. Paint your egg.
A continuation of my comic about Philippe's high heels, which you can find here! Next pages below the cut! (Ainsi, comme d'habitude, de la version française, sous la coupure donc !)
This isn't based on any historical anecdote, me and Zennie just thought it'd be funny if Chev happened to want to buy very high heels as well just to mess with Phil, except, well... he definitely doesn't have the balance to pull it off :P
(also, in my head, this is pre-relationship, so they're good friends but not there yet, which is why Phil is so flustered by the proximity lol)
hey white people . if u dont know how to pronounce an ethnic persons name *google it* or if its someone ur talking directly to *ask them*. dont fucking do that "erm i dont know how to pronounce but __" or "im gonna butcher this haha" or "im not even gonna bother trying" . ur not funny. do u know what poc think when they hear u saying that ? u sound like a loser asshole and we dont want to spend time with u . im so fucking tired of watching youtube videos about media from my country and hearing those phrases. im tired of people saying that to my face . i respect someone who clearly looked it up and is tryong but says my name wrong over someone who just goes with whatever bad first guess they had without trying. u have too many resources at ur disposal to keep doing this. for the love of god just Fucking Try. if ur confused Just Try.
I highly recommend Forvo.com, the website where native speakers of a language contribute their time and voices to read words and names in their own language. It is a fantastic way to expand your world, open up your ears, and it's way more likely to nab a hit than just googling.
I promise you things will get so much better when you start processing people’s behavior as information rather than a verdict on your self-worth. If someone doesn’t text back, suddenly pulls away, whatever it may be, the solution isn’t to put on a tap dance for them and try to regain their approval. It’s not to crash out on them and try to force them to react a certain way. It’s just to take a step back, take a deep breath, and assess what this tells you. What’s this saying about them? What’s this saying about you??
