'This footage, from a project called Tears, was inspired by a love story that Sierra told me...She told me about looking at her lover and having a full conversation, silent and in tears. And this image stuck with me, even thinking about it now gives me goosebumps, and we agreed to make a film about it...a film shot on film. This film, called Tears, has won 12 awards and counting. 3 of the most important women in my life, Leticia Llesmin, Tini Yakira, and Sierra Ferrell helped me build this exquisite world. Obviously I had the work of Marina Abramović in mind as well.
