1. I work for a PACE program (program of all inclusive care for the elderly). The participants in the program are our communityās marginalized and vulnerable elderly. Basically everyone is over 55, qualify for Medicaid and are frail enough to meet the criteria for living in a nursing home. The program goals are to provide wrap around health care and keep them living in the community. Some of our most complex and frail live in adult foster care homes (not all states have these but should). Some stats on these homes:
And 54% have dementia.
Well, this week ICE pulled one of them out of their care home. No medications went with them, no information on their care needs was gathered. Just disappeared them because their legal residence card had expired.
I thought it was bad a couple of weeks ago when we were scrambling to figure out how to make sure all of those who still lived in private homes and lost their snap benefits were going to have access to food.
2. The Department of Education has also been disappeared. And in their efforts to keep women out of the workforce and in their homes as baby machines, there is a proposal to make it impossible to get loans to cover most health professions schooling. How? first you change the definition of what professional education is so that suddenly nurses, PAs, nurse practitioners, physical therapists occupational therapists, speech language pathologists, social workers and masters or doctorates in public health are not considered professionals. Then you limit annual federal loans for non-professional degrees to $20k. This way all the women who usually go into healthcare suddenly canāt afford it. If this happens you can kiss your future Health goodbye because no one will be there to provide care. Imagine how long you will have to wait to see a doctor??? Hospitals will fall to shit.

im so serious about this but if youre autistic and especially if youre chronically ill creative labour cannot be your only way to relax. working on a creative project is still working. take time to do nothing. its good for you i promise.
I'm so glad. It's definitely a process for me, too. The brain's pressure to "create, create, create" and the way it equates 'chilling out' with 'losing' or 'wasting' time.
But I just have to keep reminding myself that resting is NOT a waste, it's nourishment and enrichment. I can't grow my creative crops if I don't nurture them with idleness.
Excluding the crucial fact that office jobs pay you an incomeā¦.if staying home to raise children and do chores and bake bread was really so much easier and more joyful than working in an office on some objective level, why arenāt men doing it? Why arenāt they chomping at the bit to be ~leisurely house husbands~ to a working wife? Why arenāt they stepping up to depend solely on someone elseās income in exchange for round-the-clock domestic labor, if itās really as blissful and their propaganda suggests? Curious.

My bestie and I talk about living on the same floor of the same building just so we could walk into each others apartments like sitcom characters, complete with cellphone-aided leitmotifs and laugh tracks.
